🌿 We’re Hiring: 1:1 Support Worker (Additional Needs) 🌿
Children’s Lane Childcare

We are looking for a dedicated 1:1 Support Worker to support a child with additional needs within our afterschool and holiday club setting.

This role would particularly suit a Classroom Assistant or someone with experience supporting children with additional needs. (As this can work round your current position) 

This is a consistent, relationship-based role — we are looking for someone who can build trust, provide stability, and support the child to fully engage in play and daily activities.

💼 The Role:
• Provide 1:1 support for a child with additional needs
• Support participation in play, outdoor activities, and group routines
• Use calm, consistent approaches to support behaviour and emotional regulation
• Work closely with the team to ensure a safe and inclusive environment

✅ We’re looking for someone who:
• Has experience working with children with additional needs (essential)
• Is patient, calm, and emotionally aware
• Can provide consistency and structure
• Is confident managing challenging behaviour where required
• Is reliable — this role depends on consistency of staff

⭐ Desirable:
• Experience as a Classroom Assistant / SEN Support
• Relevant childcare qualification (Level 2/3+)
• Knowledge of additional needs (e.g. ASD, sensory needs, emotional regulation)

🕒 Hours:
• Afterschool hours from 2.30-6.00pm with one afternoon off (term time)
• Additional hours available during holiday club

🌿 Our First Day of Forest School…

What a start 💚

Today the children explored, discovered and got fully stuck into outdoor learning 🌳

From working with natural materials to trying new experiences, it was amazing to see their confidence grow throughout the session.

There were muddy hands, big smiles and lots of curiosity ✨

Forest School is all about giving children the freedom to explore, take safe risks and learn in a way that feels real and exciting.

And today… they absolutely loved it 🥹

We can’t wait to see how this journey develops over the next few weeks 🌿

Not your typical egg hunt… think nature clues, exploration and adventure 🐰🌳

Children will be introduced to simple tool use in a safe, supervised way – building independence and resilience

Because some of the best learning happens when children are free to explore, get messy, and just be children 💛

🌿 We Are Recruiting – Deputy Leader 🌿

Children’s Lane Childcare is currently looking for a Deputy Leader to join our team.

This role will support the day-to-day running of the setting and will involve working across our 2–3 year programme as well as our after-school and holiday club provision (ages 2–11).

Our current Deputy Rachel has made the difficult decision to step away from the role after much thought. We are incredibly grateful for the care and dedication she has shown to the children and families at Children’s Lane and wish her every success moving forward.

We are now looking for someone who:

• Holds a Level 3 qualification in Childcare or above, will obtain a level 5
• Has experience working with children aged 2–11 years
• Is confident in supporting a team and leading good practice
• Is passionate about play-based childcare and early years education
• Clean driver's license 

Salary: £13.00– £14.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.

I’m Staceyann, a mum of four and the founder of Children’s Lane and as we step into our sixth year, I’ve been reflecting on the journey so far.

This photo was taken on the day I graduated with my Master’s in Education Leadership and Management. That period of study, alongside leading the setting and raising my family, was both stretching and shaping.

When I established Children’s Lane, I made the conscious decision for it to be a social enterprise, not-for-profit organisation. That choice was intentional. I wanted to create something rooted in purpose something that genuinely supports families, not something driven purely by profit.

The past five years have brought challenge, growth and learning. There were long days and moments of pressure, but there was always clarity about why this work matters.

I’m incredibly grateful to the families who have trusted us and to the team who continue to support the vision behind Children’s Lane.
