Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a book gifting programme devoted to inspiring a love of reading in the hearts of children everywhere. We're lucky to have Baildon Imagination Library right on our doorstep.

They're looking for volunteers to get involved in promotion and fundraising, and welcome people who recognise the importance of encouraging children to read and enjoy books from an early age

This year marks a very special milestone: 10 years of Baildon Imagination Library - a decade of delivering the joy of reading directly into the hands of our youngest children.

Since 2015, we’ve gifted over 30,000 books to children under five across our community. That’s hundreds of imaginations sparked, stories shared at bedtime, and early literacy skills nurtured - all thanks to supporters like you.

Now, to celebrate our 10th anniversary, we're launching a bold appeal to raise £10,000 - enough to provide a full year of free, high-quality books to over 250 children in Baildon.

Why It Matters

Research shows that early access to books:

Boosts language and literacy skills
Improves school readiness
Builds confidence and imagination
Parent Jennifer Marsh said, “the Imagination Library has been a wonderful resource for my two children. Not only are the books lovely quality and super content - they so look forward to the delivery addressed specially to them every month”.

How You Can Help

We’re asking our community to mark this milestone by investing in the next generation of readers. Every £26 raised provides one child with a free book each month for a whole year.

Parent Oliver Hudson said, “we got our first book this week and my little boy (he’s 2) was so pleased with it. We’ve read it together at bedtime and it made for a really happy story time. It’s such a simple thing but already feels special, and I think it’s a brilliant idea”.

Baildon Imagination Library is calling on Bradford shoppers to support its bid for funding by casting their vote during their weekly shop at Tesco.

Tesco Stronger Starts supporting Baildon Imagination Library to Fire up Imaginations!

Encouraging children to read, by providing free books to under 5s living in BD17, in order to improve levels of literacy and encourage a love of books from an early age.

From Wednesday 1st October until mid January local Tesco stores (including Tesco Express in Baildon and the big Tesco off Canal Road) will be supporting us through the blue tokens available when you make a purchase. Please ensure you receive a token and put it in our collection box.

The project with the highest number of votes across our region will receive up to £1,500, the second placed project up to £1,000 and the third placed project £500. Our funds are currently at their lowest ever level so it would be fantastic to come first. We need to raise over £600 every month to keep providing books to over 250 children living in BD17 every month.
