🛍️ Community Stalls & Local Traders 🛍️

One of the best things about the Backwell Walking Carnival & Fayre is bringing together so many brilliant local businesses, charities, clubs and community groups in one place.

From delicious food and drinks to handmade crafts, wildlife charities, local organisations and activities for all ages, there was something around every corner to discover.

Every stall helped make the day what it was—a true community celebration. Whether you came away with a new plant, a handmade gift, some delicious chutney, treats for your dog or simply learned about an organisation doing amazing work in our area, we hope you enjoyed meeting the incredible people behind them.

A huge thank you to every exhibitor, trader and community group for supporting this year's event and helping create such a vibrant atmosphere.

🎶 Performances, Entertainment & Family Fun 🎉

The carnival may have ended at the Playing Fields, but the fun was only just beginning!

Throughout the afternoon there was something for everyone to enjoy—from live music and dance performances to the ever-popular Bubble Show, fantastic face painting and our much-loved Dog Show.

It was wonderful to see so many families enjoying the entertainment, cheering on performers, laughing together and making memories in the sunshine.

A heartfelt thank you to every performer, entertainer, volunteer and organiser who helped create such a welcoming, fun-filled afternoon for our community.

🎭 Backwell Walking Carnival 2026 – A Look Back 🎭

The official photos are in, and what a fantastic day it was!

Our Walking Carnival once again brought the village together, with an incredible procession of imaginative floats, colourful costumes and smiling faces making their way through Backwell before arriving at the Playing Fields.

This year's theme, Rewilding, inspired so many creative interpretations, from nature and wildlife to sustainability and community. A huge thank you to every school, community group, organisation and family who gave their time, imagination and enthusiasm to create such an unforgettable spectacle.

The Walking Carnival is at the heart of our event, and seeing so many people lining the streets to cheer everyone on was a wonderful reminder of what makes Backwell such a special community.

🎉 The procession is underway! 🎉

We hope everyone taking part has an amazing time and that everyone lining the streets enjoys the fantastic creativity, colour and community spirit on display. Good luck to all of our entrants! 🌿🎭

Once the procession reaches the Fayre on the Field, the celebrations continue with an afternoon full of entertainment for all ages!

💚 Before the celebrations begin, we'd like to say a heartfelt thank you.

The Backwell Walking Carnival & Fayre on the Field is a true community event, organised entirely by volunteers who have generously given their time, energy and enthusiasm over many months to make today happen.

A huge thank you also goes to our amazing sponsors and everyone who has donated raffle prizes. Your generosity has made such a difference – quite simply, this event wouldn't be possible without your support.

And to our fantastic float judges… good luck! With so much imagination, creativity and hard work on display this year, choosing an overall winner is going to be a very difficult task!

Now all that's left is for everyone to come together and enjoy a wonderful day celebrating our amazing village. Thank you for being part of it. 💚

🎉 Today is the day! 🎉

The Backwell Walking Carnival & Fayre on the Field is finally here, and we can't wait to celebrate with you all!

The walking route can be found on the attached map, with the procession finishing at the Fayre on the Field.

🎶 The fabulous UKeBox Band will be there to welcome the floats into the playing field, setting the scene with plenty of musical fun before an afternoon packed with performances, activities, delicious food and drink, and entertainment for all ages.

Whether you're walking, watching the procession or joining us on the field afterwards, we hope you'll have a fantastic day.

Come along on Sunday 28th June - join the route, cheer everyone on, and enjoy an afternoon in the playing fields.

📍 Procession starts at the SPAR at 12pm
🏁 Finishes at the Playing Fields
🌿 Fayre on the Playing Fields: 12–5pm

Backwell Walking Carnival 2026 — Rewilding 2026 🌿

🎶🌍 Performance Spotlight: Ozcan Ates, Ali Elmubarak & Michael Loader 🌍🎶

We're honoured to welcome Ozcan Ates, Ali Elmubarak and storyteller Michael Loader to the performance stage at this year's Backwell Walking Carnival & Fayre on the Field.

Together, they will share music, storytelling and conversation, offering an opportunity to hear about lived experiences as refugees and the journeys that have shaped lives. Through traditional music and the power of storytelling, this promises to be a thought-provoking and uplifting performance.

Born in Istanbul, Ozcan began playing the bağlama from a young age. His musical journey started in Turkey and has continued in the UK, where he now performs and teaches. His repertoire includes traditional Turkish and Kurdish folk songs alongside his own original compositions.

As we celebrate this year's theme of Rewilding, we're reminded that thriving communities are built not only through our connection to nature, but through understanding, inclusion and celebrating the diverse experiences of the people around us.

We hope you'll take some time during the fayre to enjoy this unique performance, hear inspiring stories, and experience the power of music and storytelling to bring people together.
