WARNING NOTIFICATION TO ALL PARENTS
It was most concerning and alarming to discover on Thursday 30th October, further evidence of anti social behaviour at the Recreation Ground.
In the very right hand corner of the woodland (at the rear of the two grass mounds) it was discovered that fires had been lit in that corner. A children’s book was clearly used to light the fire as part-burnt pages were strewn, seemingly, in a carefully placed circle around the source of the fire.
Whilst a fire in itself is, of course, really worrying, what is even more concerning, was that an aerosol canister (a Sure deodorant can) had obviously been placed into the fire and seemingly had exploded. The consequences of the grave harm that an exploding canister could have caused, just doesn’t bear thinking about.
A few photographs taken on Thursday are attached. You will see that the canister is to the left, a little away from the central point of the fire. The top part of the canister could not be found. The canister was moved to the centre of the fire area to take a couple of closeup photos. The canister has been removed.
May we ask you please to bring the dangers of messing with fire and the enhanced hazard of introducing combustibles, to the immediate attention of your children.
To ensure continued safety of all users of the Recreation Ground this very concerning matter has been reported to the Police.
With our grateful thanks, Trustees Atworth Village Hall and Recreation Ground
