After enjoying our group visits to the Waterloo and Taunton Conservative Club for Crown Green Bowling and Indoor Bowls (on the snooker tables), a couple of our guys, Nev & John have now joined the club as members. They now join four of our other guys as members of this great club!

We’ll have to have a GG members meet up over the summer months!

A few of our guys have joined us today at St Gabriel's Church, Ashton-Under-Lyne Spring Fair.

We’re here until 2pm if you wanted to pop along and support ourselves and the other community groups, including St Gabriel’s Place of Welcome here at church.

We’ve got plenty of stalls, home cooked food, cakes plus a tombola and raffle. We’d love to see you!

Apologies for the delay in posting our recent activities, but I’ve been tied up workwise and have been working away!

Going back to the 16th April, we were back at “home” at St Gabriel's Church, Ashton-Under-Lyne for Free & Easy.

The guys enjoyed plenty of chat 💬, refreshments ☕️ and Champions League football ⚽️ on our television’s 📺, before enjoying a lovely Guinness Stew 🥘 prepared by our very own Sandra, along with some crusty bread 🥖 and red cabbage & beetroot. For dessert, we had apple pie and ice cream 🥧🍨

As always, a big thank you to our volunteers, Josie & Marjorie who looked after everything in the kitchen and the washing up. Both Kurt and Jonathan helped set up for the day and were always on hand to help out during the session.

We also enjoyed watching a classic Laurel & Hardy film and some Scalextric car racing, before “Frank’s Quiz” to end the session.

What another good time we all had!

Lastly, on the day, we were able to show the guys our 1st birthday feature in the Tameside Reporter.

Last Thursday, we met up for one of our favourite activities, which is Snooker and where we visited the Pyramid Snooker Club in Dukinfield.

As always, thanks to Owen for looking after us during our visit. It was also great to see Jay too early on.

Plenty of good fun, laughs and refreshments were had ☕️🥤

For one of our guys it was his first visit in approximately 30yrs plus!

A good time was had by everyone!

This Thursday, we’re back at St Gabriel's Church, Ashton-Under-Lyne for “Free & Easy” and of course “Frank’s Quiz”!

Last Thursday, we were back at Tameside Cycle Circuit for cycling 🚴‍♂️ and lunch, all kindly provided and jointly facilitated by Active Tameside through Sharon Was Mcleod Walls and Tameside Council through Marie Hare.

Our guys enjoyed the fresh air, exercise and refreshments and we’ll be back again at the end of April for another session. A big thanks must also go to Gary Keefe (Cycling Coach) for his assistance to our guys throughout. Nothing was too much trouble.

We also welcomed our second visit from Mark Andrews - Community Reporter from the Tameside Reporter/Tameside Radio who along with Eva and Erin spoke and interviewed our guys. Everyone enjoyed it!

After the cycling, we enjoyed a relax, a brew ☕️ and some tomato soup 🥫with some crusty bread 🥖

There is no session this coming Thursday 2nd April as we’re having an Easter break. We return on Thursday 9th April, when we’re off to play snooker at Pyramid Snooker Club.

Lastly, we’re at the Healthwatch Tameside event tomorrow, Monday 30th March at The Highfield Pavillion Cafe in Stamford Park, between 10-1pm. If you’re at a loose end, please pop down and say hello to us! 🙋‍♂️
