This World Cup, football will bring people together across our communities ⚽

From pubs and workplaces to community spaces and homes, match days can be a time to connect and celebrate. But not everyone experiences them in the same way.

At Jigsaw Homes, we’re committed to creating safe, respectful communities where everyone can feel comfortable in their home and neighbourhood. Sexist comments, harassment, intimidation and abuse should never be dismissed as “banter” or passion for the game.

We’re proud to support White Ribbon UK in sharing practical ways to speak up safely, support others, and help create positive environments – on and off the pitch.

If you, or someone you know, is experiencing harm, Jigsaw Support Bridges Partnership service offers specialist support for those affected by domestic abuse:

Tameside Council is running a number of community forums starting next week, giving you a chance to have your say on issues that matter in your town.

Our new Community Forums launch this month across Tameside – your chance to have your say on the issues that matter in your town.

They’ve been developed from the former Neighbourhood Forums to provide stronger opportunities for town-level engagement between residents & the council.

They’ll provide a space to discuss borough-wide developments, town-specific issues, & funding opportunities.

Everyone’s welcome! Find out more, link in the comments 👇

This Hoarding Awareness Week, what is the most important thing to remember?

Behind every situation is a person with experiences, emotions, and reasons that matter.

When we focus only on the environment, we risk missing what’s really going on. When we focus on the person, we create the opportunity for real change.

See the person, not the hoard.

How can we make a difference to someone who needs support with hoarding behaviour?

What helps most is:
• Building a consistent, trusting relationship.
• Being non-judgemental.
• Working collaboratively.
• Setting small, realistic goals.
• Progress is often slow and not always linear, and that’s okay.

Relationship-based support leads to lasting and sustainable change.

It's Hoarding Awareness Week - and one common question is 'do people choose to live like this?'

It is closely linked to mental health, and often linked to experiences such as trauma, loss, or grief.

A helpful shift in thinking is:
• Not “What’s wrong with this person?”
• But “What has happened to this person?”

Understanding reduces judgement and improves support.

If you, or anyone you know, needs help with hoarding behaviour, please visit our website for more information on who to contact https://ow.ly/Ivxp50YVXXL

Hundreds of our tenants have used our Better Off Calculator to check their finances.

Check yours here: https://better-off.jigsawhomes.org.uk/

So far this year:

847 households have completed a check
574 households were found to be eligible for support they were not fully claiming
£340,676 in benefits has been identified as unclaimed

In some cases, people were already receiving support but not everything they were entitled to. In others, they were not claiming anything at all.

If you have not checked recently, it may be worth taking a few minutes.

Whether you work, receive benefits, or a mix of both, your circumstances can change.

If the calculator shows you could be better off, you can choose to send your details to our Money Advice team for help and guidance with next steps.

It's free to use. Confidential. No obligation.

This we’re raising awareness of how illegal lenders operate.
Illegal lenders adapt - moving online, using social media, or pretending to be someone you trust.
But their aim is always the same: control and intimidation.
