πŸ“– REPLANS STORY πŸ“–

There was once more than one Replan.

Back in the 1980s, REPLAN was part of a national movement created to help people whose lives had been turned upside down by unemployment and industrial change.

And in 1988, Replan came to Moira.

It became a place where people could learn new skills, retrain, rebuild confidence and find a way forward.

The years passed.

The national programme disappeared.

Replan projects around the country closed.

But here in Moira…

Replan survived.

It changed with the times. It grew with the community. It became a place for pottery, creativity, learning, volunteering, friendship, heritage, support and simply somewhere people could walk through the door and feel welcome.

And incredibly, research suggests that Moira Replan may now be the last surviving Replan from that original national initiative.

Think about that.

Something that once existed across the country may now survive only here, in our little corner of Leicestershire.

And now it is our turn to protect it.

Our building may be changing.

Our future home may be changing.

But Replan does not have to disappear.

In fact, we believe this could be the beginning of something even bigger.

New activities.
New partnerships.
New opportunities.
New generations walking through Replan’s doors.

But for that to happen, we need people to stand with us.

Because Replan isn’t just bricks and mortar.

Replan is people.

It is the person who came through the door not knowing anybody and left with a friend.

It is the person who discovered a talent they never knew they had.

It is the volunteer who gave their time.

It is the potter who found their happy place.

It is the person who came in for a cup of tea and a chat when they needed one.

It is nearly four decades of memories, skills, friendships and community.

So this is our message:

Let’s fight to keep Replan alive.

Not because we are afraid of change.

But because Replan was created to help people through change and that purpose matters just as much today as it did in 1988.

Let’s protect its history.

Let’s build its future.

Let’s make sure that if Moira really is home to the last surviving Replan, we are not the generation that lets it disappear.

We are the generation that keeps it going. ❀️

Please stand with us.
Please share our story.
Please support our activities.
Please get involved.

Because Replan’s story is not finished yet.

MOIRA REPLAN, SINCE 1988.
LET’S KEEP IT ALIVE. ❀️

06/10/2026

Please don’t let Replan become a place we only talk about in the past tense. πŸ’”

For nearly 40 years, this little building on Ashby Road has been so much more than bricks and mortar.

It has been somewhere to walk into when you needed company.
Somewhere to learn something new.
Somewhere to make friends.
Somewhere to laugh, create, talk, have a cup of tea and simply feel like you belonged.

Thousands of little moments have happened inside these walls β€” moments that would never make the headlines, but meant everything to the people who lived them.

Children have grown up here.
Friendships have been made here.
People have found purpose here.
People who were lonely found somewhere they were known by name.

And now, the future of the building Replan has called home for decades is uncertain.

To some, it may simply be a property on Ashby Road.

To us, it is home.

We don’t want to look back one day and say, β€œDo you remember Replan?”

We want to be able to say:

β€œIt’s still here.”

Because once a community place like this is lost, recreating what grew here over nearly four decades is almost impossible.

So please, watch this video.
Share it.
Talk about Replan.
Tell people what this place means to you.

And if Replan has ever touched your life, even in the smallest way, leave your memory in the comments.

Let people see that this isn't just about saving a building.

It’s about saving a piece of Moira.

The doors are still open.
The people are still here.
And the heart still beats. ❀️

*Please help us keep it beating.

πŸ“Έ NEW AT MOIRA REPLAN, PHOTOGRAPHY IS COMING! πŸ“Έ

We’re really excited to announce that we’re planning to start both Photography Classes and a regular Moira Replan Photography Group. ❀️

Whether you’ve just bought your first camera, have had one sitting in a cupboard for years, take everything on your phone, or already love photography and simply want to meet other photographers, we want to create something for you.

Our photography activities could include:

πŸ“· Getting off Auto and understanding your camera
β˜€οΈ Light, exposure, aperture, shutter speed & ISO
🌿 Composition and making ordinary places look amazing
πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§ Portrait photography
🌳 Photo walks around Moira and the National Forest
🏘️ Local landscape & heritage photography
πŸ’» Basic editing
🎯 Photography challenges and projects
πŸ–ΌοΈ Sharing images, friendly feedback and exhibitions
β˜• And, importantly, meeting other people who love taking pictures!

We’re looking at starting with a Beginner Photography Course, alongside a more informal Photography Group that can continue throughout the year.

But before we set the timetable, we want YOU to tell us when you’d actually be able to come!

πŸ“… WHAT DAYS/TIMES WOULD SUIT YOU?

Please comment below with what would work best:

Weekday morning – around 10am–12pm
Weekday afternoon – around 1pm–3pm
Weekday evening – around 6:30pm–8:30pm

And if you have a preferred day: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday , tell us!

You can also tell us whether you’re interested in:

πŸ“š Beginner Photography Course
πŸ“Έ Regular Photography Group
❀️ BOTH!

You do not need an expensive camera to be part of the photography community at Replan. We want this to be welcoming, friendly and accessible.

Photography is about learning to see, not simply about what equipment you own.

Drop your preferred day/time below πŸ‘‡ and help us build the new Moira Replan Photography community!

❀️ AN UPDATE ON THE FUTURE OF MOIRA REPLAN

We have now received formal confirmation from North West Leicestershire District Council that our bid to purchase 17 Ashby Road has been unsuccessful.

The Council has told us that Cabinet carefully considered our offer, including an independent assessment of the community value included within our bid. While they recognised the contribution Moira Replan has made to the local community over many years, they concluded that they could not satisfy themselves that our offer demonstrated the level of best value required under the Local Government Act.

Of course, we are incredibly disappointed.

But please don’t read this as an announcement that Replan is closing, because it absolutely isn’t. ❀️

Moira Replan is much more than one building.

It is the people, the friendships, the pottery, the creativity, the heritage, the volunteers, the ideas, the support and almost four decades of community history.

And whatever happens next, Replan will continue.

Our Trustees are already working tirelessly behind the scenes looking at the options available to us. There are several possibilities being explored, and although this wasn’t the outcome we had hoped for, it has also opened the door to some genuinely exciting opportunities for the future of Replan.

We are determined not simply to preserve what Replan already does, but to build upon it, expand it and create something that can serve our community for many years to come.

The Council has also confirmed that it will continue to support our search for alternative accommodation where it can.

So this isn’t goodbye to Replan.

It’s simply the end of one chapter.

And, actually, we’re becoming rather excited about what the next one might look like. 🌿❀️

Over the last few months we have discovered just how many friends Replan has, individuals, organisations and people we didn’t even know were watching and supporting us.

When you’re fighting for something you care deeply about, discovering that so many people are standing beside you is an extraordinary feeling.

Thank you for every message, donation, signature, letter, share, conversation and offer of help.

You have reminded us exactly why Replan is worth fighting for.

For now, our activities continue, our Trustees keep working, and Replan keeps going.

There is much more to come.

Watch this space. ❀️

πŸŽ‰ OUR GRAHAM IS A FINALIST! πŸŽ‰

We are incredibly proud to announce that Graham Knight of Moira Replan has been named a finalist for Trustee of the Year at The VAL Awards 2026! πŸ†

Graham never seeks recognition and would much rather quietly get on with helping others, but his dedication, kindness and commitment to Moira Replan and our community deserve to be celebrated.

This nomination means so much to all of us who see how much he gives, often without expecting anything in return.

Please join us in congratulating Graham on this thoroughly deserved achievement. We are all so proud of you, whether you like the fuss or not! πŸ’™πŸ’›
