๐Ÿ’ฅUpdate ๐Ÿ’ฅ
I have decided that I will be taking a temporary step away from hedgehog rescue for the next few months.
Rescue is hard and draining and I need to take some time to reorganise myself and how I work the rescue around a full time very demanding job.
I will still be on the end of a message to offer advice and help direct to the best possible places. I will be back and function as soon as I possibly can.

So as I'm sure most of you will remember the tiny baby conker that came in weighing just 48g.. Well look at him now... a big re-wild hog ready for release now that nasty rain has past.
He will be going in the next day or two just confirming arrangements for him.
It's been amazing seeing him go from a tiny weak baby to a big and strong healthy boy.
Good luck buddy.

With the crazy weather im thinking that there is going to be alot of late letters this year. Please please keep feeding and supporting them. There's still time to gain enough weight at the moment.

So conker has left the incubator and moved into his big boy box. He's still supported with a heat mat and will be until in sure he isn't needing it.
From yesterday we are hands off and no further contact other than cleaning, feeding and weighing. Already in just 24hrs he's developed an attitude and at cleaning this morning he was huffing and balling on me.
It's lovely to see them go from tiny 48g dependant baby to independent thriving young hog.

On the 12th August, I was asked by another local rescue if I could take a baby in.
Baby being a mere 48g.
He arrived and was the most beautiful little boy, far more developed than weight would suggest.
He was so weak that getting 2ml of milk into him was a challenge. Every 2hrs alternating milk and rehydration fluid I hoped we were winning. By next morning we were up to 51g but so so weak. The hours turned to days and he carried on fighting. We got to 61g and I was amazed.... but we then started loosing weigh, then gain, then loose. 4days he yo-yod his weight, which had me stumped. Nothing seamed to work or help and I feared we would loose him.
Suddenly a corner turn and we started gaining again. We suddenly had a character and attitude appear.
Now today we are a massive 71g and are just realising we can eat for ourselves.
A long way to go still and not out the woods yet but going the right way.
So here's conker as he was named at the vets from day 1 to today!!
Il add some videos of him today too in another post

Sadly we have lost the last 2 of the babies.
It's been a really tough battle but sadly as we know babies of that age very rarely survive. I gave it my best, but sadly it wasn't enough. ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”

So today I've had a new girl in tonight called Carrie. She's come from Bray House Vets. I think she's got some internal bleeding, caused by intetnal parasites as she's quacking. However she was treated at the vets so now we just have to wait and see.
Sadly we lost another of rhe babies, but the remaining 2 are hanging in there. There not out the woods and survival is still very slim but I'm doing my best for them.

Sadly I lost 2 of the tiny bunch over night.
Hand rearing from this age never has much success rate unfortunately, how ever we still try and give it everything.
It's heart breaking and after 3 days you really think you stand a chance.
