Thankfully government have stepped back from the massive environmental severance and pollution which this bypass would have caused: but they have yet to take action against National Highways for their widespread existing pollution damage - including to our life-giving waterways. Here is an initiative to try to change that:

Dr Beccy Cooper has it exactly right - a sustainable integrated approach to transport planning is necessary, right across Sussex, correctly understood as a primarily local network. National Highways are wrong to treat the A27 in isolation, and worse, to 'improve' individual sections in such a way as to add to congestion in other sections. Why do they do that? To make a case for getting more taxpayers money to throw at the next section. They see themselves as, and act as, a company that makes profit by building major roads, nothing else. It is time for change.

A newly-appointed MP said there needs to be a ‘Sussex-wide approach’ to tackling the A27 problem.

Fully costed? Andrew Griffith is having a laugh. Laughably poor value for money at budgeted £320m for a few minutes possible time saving, but National Highways themselves admitted their scheme could have ended up costing nearly 4 times as much. Come on Mr Griffith, time to change tack and support a more conservative proposal like the Arundel Alternative. More conservative of money, rural communities, the environment. And on rural communities - its Mr Griffith and this Arundel Bypass scheme that were proposing to wreck them. The route went through four village communities.
