Lawnmower racing is a form of motorsport in which competitors race modified lawnmowers, usually of the ride-on or self-propelled variety. The Sport is now 50 years in the running and was originally started in 1973 in Wisborough Green by Jim Gavin and a few of his friends over a few drinks in the Cricketers Arms. And the best bit we believe is he was an Irishman from Co.Cork no less and was living in England at the time. Because after all only an Irishman could think of whacky racing like this !! For more information about this look up the BLMRA website. The home of UK mower racing.

ThrowbackSunday: Ballymena Festival of Steam 2018 🚜💨
For today’s throwback, we’re looking back at the epic moment NILMRA took over the arena for a parade lap at the legendary Ballymena Festival of Steam! 🏁
we strip these mowers down, modify the engines, and push them to their absolute limits—all while keeping it safe, family-friendly, and completely non-profit to support incredible local charities.
No cash prizes, no massive sponsorships—just pure mechanical skill, a massive passion for racing, and the best craic on grass! 🙌❤️
