Our Valuing Forces Families Overseas programme researchers are looking for volunteers to share their experience of overseas postings. Your views will be shared via online focus groups and will help to pinpoint where improvements are needed in the overseas space.

📩If you are sending parcels to loved ones outside of the UK via Royal Mail with a British Forces Post Office (BFPO) number, there are some things you may need to know before you post.

✅If you send gifts from England, Scotland or Wales, make sure you complete a customs form.
✅ For items posted from Northern Ireland, customs forms are only required for locations outside of the EU (excluding the UK).

You can complete the customs form via the link in our comments or collect one from your local post office and complete it using BLOCK CAPITALS. A few minutes spent completing the form correctly will prevent disappointment with items being returned to the sender.

Whilst heating your home may be your last thought over this hot summer, prices could rise again this winter. On 23 August, suppliers will use your records to see if you are eligible for the Warm Home Discount.

This government scheme reduces the cost of your heating costs by £150 if you are on means-tested benefits such as Universal Credit. Eligible households automatically receive this if your provider has more than 1,000 customers.

It is essential that your name is on the heating bill to receive this discount- please check this before 23 August.

✅ Ask your lender if they have signed the Armed Forces Covenant Motor Finance Protocol
✅ Tell the dealer or finance provider that you're a Service person or family member
✅ Not all companies support this option and those that do may require comprehensive insurance during the assignment
