We are a charity with an active team of volunteers maintaining and improving Alva Glen for the benefit of community and wildlife. We plant and tidy.

We commission events and art works. We also put on events, including the Illuminations every 2 years.

We'd love you to join us for our June volunteer session this Sunday from 10am-12pm! 😊

Our wonderful team of volunteers will be busy keeping the Glen beautiful, with tasks including planting, litter picking, bridge repair, w**ding and more.

If you come along a little earlier, you'll also have the chance to see some marvelous moths from our moth trap at 9:30am!

Our volunteer days are a great chance to give back to your local community, enjoy a chat with some lovely folk, and have some delicious cake! All are welcome 😊

Alva Glen was looking beautiful and green for our monthly volunteer session yesterday! 🌿

After checking our moth trap and recording species including early thorn and least black arches, we got to work on our tasks. Our volunteers had a busy morning building some new steps to improve the zigzag path, litter picking, and w**ding & planting up the car park and lade gardens. All that hard work was rewarded with some delicious cake 🧁

Anyone is welcome to join us on the first Sunday of the month to help care for the Glen 😊

Things are looking up! Spring is truly here and we have a busy morning on Sunday (3rd May) with lots planned to help keep Alva Glen looking gorgeous. There are paths to tidy and build, plants to plant, fences to paint, drains to unblock, w**ds to w**d and litter to pick. If you get here early there may be some amazing moths to admire from our humane moth traps. And of course, there will be tea and cake to restore us after our efforts!

The moths are from 0930 at the picnic benches above the car park, and the work "day" (well, 2 hours!) starts at ten am outside the container in the car park. Hope to see you there......

April Work "day" will be this Sunday. It may be a tad breezy (!) but we are planning on our usual couple of hours of tidying, path clearing, ditch unblocking, w**ding and cake eating. All welcome. Meet at the container in the car park just before 10am.
