A growing number of young people are leaving care without a place to call home. When they struggle to meet their basic needs, they face barriers in finding jobs and apprenticeships or continuing their education.

Through our Supported Lodgings service 95% of young people are able to progress positively in life. Supported Lodgings hosts make an incredible difference to young people’s lives, helping them to realise their potential and showing them they have someone who cares.

A team from Step by Step and the University of Southampton recently attended the Houses of Parliament to present the findings of their collaborative research project, Moving Towards Independence.

We're at the UK House of Commons! A team from Step by Step and the University of Southampton are meeting MPs to present the findings of our joint research project, Moving Towards Independence.

This unique study collected the thoughts and experiences of young people leaving supported accommodation and produced a number of recommendations for policy change.

Today is a fantastic opportunity to take these findings - and young people's voices - to some of the country's key decision makers.
