Morris dancers have been BANNED from a much-loved Midland festival dating from the 12th century - for being too slow đ€Żđ«
Organisers of the Lichfield Bower claimed the traditional folk performers, who have long been a feature of the late May Bank Holiday procession, caused âdelaysâ in previous years by ignoring instructions.
They banned the Three Spires Morris group from taking part this year - sparking fury.
Explaining the lack of morris dancers in the line-up, organisers said online: "Last year and in the previous Bower, the morris dancers delayed the procession by not following the directions of the chief marshal.
"In 2025, this was particularly disruptive. While we appreciate the contribution of Three Spires in recent years, we could not allow this to continue."
The Three Spires group hit back at the claims and said they were not aware of any issues before the announcement.
