Holme Farm’s Keith and Sarah organised another apiary visit and honey extraction on Tuesday evening, in the Holme Farm kitchen.

Many thanks to another beekeeping husband and wife duo - Jackie and Peter - who along with Steve, rolled their sleeves up to help get some honey harvested!

Everyone involved in beekeeping at Holme Farm is registered with the British Bee Charity (BBC). Holme Farm is passionate about bees! 🐝 If you would like to learn more about beekeeping, then please do get in touch.

Holme Farm honey is available to purchase by popping in any day between 10am-2pm and asking the supervisor for a jar - it’s priced at £8.00 for a 340g (12oz) jar. While stocks last! 🍯

We might be biased….but as well as the potential health benefits of consuming local honey, we think it tastes exceptional! 😋

For the first time, we have tender shoots of asparagus on the go at Holme Farm…..but however tempting it may be, we’re leaving it well alone!

The first and second seasons’ asparagus is not for harvesting - the crowns and foliage need to strengthen for a year, before it can be enjoyed. Asparagus is a labour of love.

It makes sense then - that as well as being delicious, full of prebiotics, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants - Holme Farm’s plant guru Annie tells us that delicate, feathery asparagus ferns have long been used as foliage in wedding floristry - for groom’s button holes/boutonniers, and bouquets.
