It’s that time of year again! The annual Celtman triathlons will be here in June and the Celtman organisers and TDCA are looking for people to help.
These are prestigious events that act as valuable showcases of our area and bring considerable benefit to local businesses. Included in these is TDCA which is once again providing Loch Torridon Community Centre as the main venue. TDCA will also benefit by selling refreshments on race days and at the Celtman prize giving, and by running a cash bar at the ceilidh on 14 June (to which everyone in the community is warmly invited!).
Following feedback from previous years, the TDCA team has worked hard with the Celtman organisers to come up with arrangements that aim to ensure the events run smoothly, while at the same time minimise disruption for local residents. This includes, for example, the Celtman organisers being responsible for managing traffic, and agreeing a rota whereby TDCA community members will be briefed by the Celtman organisers and work alongside the Celtman volunteers as part of a single team.
We recognise the success of events such as these rely heavily on local support. Therefore we really hope as many people as possible will be able to step forward and help. Celtman is a large income earner for the Community Centre, so helping at the events supports the centre and the community.
If you have worked at Celtman before, things may feel a little different this year, but we hope in a good way!
Everyone who steps forward will be entitled to £13.45 per hour. Depending on what you are doing, this will either be paid by Celtman (via TDCA) or by TDCA directly. It will then be up to you to decide whether to receive this amount or, if you wish, to donate it to TDCA.
We are looking for members of the community to work in shifts within the following time slots. The length of the shifts can be as long or as short as you like, any time you can give will be hugely appreciated. Just let me know which dates, times or roles you prefer. If you would like more information about what the roles will entail, please contact me using the details below.
Please note the Celtman organisers have decided to bring in food trucks to provide the athletes’ meals this year, therefore we do not need anyone to work in the kitchen, other than for brunches, see below:
