Tomorrow Tuesday Friends are off out. We are hoping for good weather as we head off to Ormskirk and Southport!

We share something of faith and life each week at the start of our lunches. This is what I (Ian) shared today

"I had a lot on last week and as a result this week I feel a really deep weariness and am struggling to do what I need to this week.

I wonder if you notice the same after a week where you have worked at full speed for the whole week.

What does a week like this make you and me realise?

Maybe it helps us see that we have limits

Isnt that soooooo frustrating…it would be so much easier if we didn’t have limits

● Physical limits

● Emotional limits

● Financial limits

We do eventually hit a wall.

● We get tired

● We run out emotionally

● We run out physically.

● We realise we are not self-sustaining.

And maybe that is one of the most significant parts about being human.

For me, I find massive comfort in the message of Jesus that was never built around pretending people are limitless.

Jesus didn’t come for people who had endless strength.
He came for tired people.
Burdened people.
People carrying more than they could sustain on their own.

That’s why his words are so compelling:

“Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

Not “come to me once you’ve sorted yourself out.”
Not “come to me once you’re stronger.”

Just: come weary
Just: come

And as we do we find the depths of God

We discover that God is deeper than our exhaustion.

Deeper than our anxiety.

Deeper than our limitations.

Not just information about God.
Not just religion.

But the presence of God.
The peace of God.
The love of God that meets people right in the middle of weakness.

Maybe our limits are not just interruptions to life.
Maybe they are invitations:

invitations to go deeper into dependence,
deeper into trust,
and deeper into God.

The poem we shared at Tuesday Friends today was The Answer by R.S.Thomas.

In it he explores our search for meaning and truth. The poems writer seeks answers from God but receives silence.

The silence is not emptiness but something more. The understanding that the person comes to is found in prayer, patience, humility, and connection with God.

The poem suggests that we want clear, immediate responses, yet truth, like the light shining into the tomb on Easter Day is sometimes found by simply experiencing it. That may at times mean putting aside the deep questions or doubts (like the grave clothes) and instead experiencing the truth (the stone rolling away).
