Urgent ‼️ Juno needs a new home as soon as possible after a difficult health diagnosis with her adopter. She has been moved to a foster home on a very temporary basis but she needs to be in a calm home where she can relax after the emotional rollercoaster of the last two weeks. She is feeling very anxious and over stimulated at the moment finding it hard to switch off with the resident quail in the house.
Juno is a friendly, sociable, neutered girl who is good with other dogs and people, she has lived happily with children and very recently was an angel at the pub when meeting her foster parents and children who came to give her some fuss and attention.
Juno is currently in foster in the South Croydon area she has just turned 6 years old last month but behaves like a puppy.
She loves the beach and playing in the sea. She can bark when she’s excited and if she thinks she isn’t getting enough attention. Juno’s original owners explain.
Juno is a beautiful, friendly, affectionate, petite girl, she is great with children and other dogs. We regularly have visitors and their dogs to stay and Juno gets on well with them.
Her recall is good, we usually walk her on the beach or in the sand dunes, she loves having a splash in the sea or jumping into rivers after sticks, she is a good swimmer. She loves playing fetch with a ball or sticks and chasing bunnies (she has never caught one!). She also loves to go on runs with Dad, or run alongside us on family cycle rides.
When off lead, Juno will run ahead or in wide open spaces run large rings around the space, but she always checks back in with us frequently. She always returns when called. If we reach a gate or there are different path options, she will always wait and check which way she should go.
Juno is also a bit of a herder, if we are on a walk with several peopleshe will constantly be checking the group to see that everyone is present and correct, running to check on any stragglers at the back!
She will go and say hello to people or other dogs when out walking, she is always very submissive when approaching other dogs, crawling on her tummy until she knows she’ll get a warm welcome. She loves nothing more than a stroke or rub under her chin and she always gets a lot of compliments when we are out as she is so friendly and pretty – we always laugh that a walk is not complete unless somebody has told us: “she’s got a lovely coat!” – she is always very glossy!
When on lead in the village she does pull so we use a figure of eight rope lead which she is perfect on. When returning home from a walk or when coming back in from the garden she knows to sit on the mat and wait to have her paws wiped / rub down with a towel if wet. She will also jump into the bath if we give the “hup” command, so she can have a shower after any particularly muddy walks.
She knows lots of commands, and if we had the time, she is so clever, she could easily learn many more. One of her party tricks was knowing the names of her different toys and selecting the correct one to command. Unfortunately, the stuffed toys never last that long as she is always determined to extract any squeakers! I think the record one birthday was destroying a new teddy in the first 30 seconds!
She is very funny and if she’s lying down with you, if you stop stroking her sooner than she would like, she will give you her “Princess Di” eyes! She can also be very vocal with her grumblings of appreciation and her snoring when snoozing!
She is a good eater, not at all fussy, she has kibble twice a day and any suitable leftovers. She is also used to doing the pre-wash of our dinner plates before they go into the dishwasher, she will sit waiting patiently for us to finish so she can do her duty.
Juno is used to travelling in the car and staying in different houses /meeting different people. She will sleep in the car on long journeys and has never been car sick. We will usually take the crate if staying with people or in holiday homes and she sleeps well. At home she sleeps in her bed in the kitchen, with her blankets on top.
On week days while we are working, she will sleep on a sofa in the sitting room, she likes to be snuggled up in a blanket. In the evenings she sleeps on the sofa with us, under a blanket, head on one of our laps.
In the summer, she loves nothing more than sunbathing, she has her own bench and cushion and will be happy lying in the sun all day.
Juno’s only major dislike is having her claws clipped. It is the only time we have ever heard her growl. Even the vets have struggled to do it. We clipped them from when she was a puppy with no issues at all, but as she got older she disliked it more and more. We tackle this by pavement walking to keep them down naturally and have never had any problems.
She has also recently developed a fear of loud bangs. We think this is from a holiday last year when we visited a castle and they let off a cannon, she was terrified and we ran back to the car with her as fast as we could. However since then, after never being remotely bothered by fireworks or bangs she is much more sensitive to them.
Juno has never had any medical issues at all.
Juno is a very vocal girl, when in the car approaching any of her usual walks, she will bark loudly until we arrive. She will also bark when visitors come to the house or if the doorbell rings. Our children’s friends call each morning on the way to school and they are all used to Juno barking at them, she just wants to stand on her hind paws and lick their faces to say hello and then she’s happy to lie down and go back to sleep. She will also bark at you when first seeing you in the morning, partly to say good morning and partly to say “please can I have my breakfast”!
Juno is in the South Croydon area and will be rehomed with her 5 weeks free agria insurance and her Adoption Contract.
