Motorcycles make up around 1% of traffic on Scotland's roads but account for 18% of fatalities.
This highlights the disproportionate vulnerability of motorcyclists on our roads.

Our national aims to
•Promote safe and responsible motorcycling/driving.
•Address the behaviours that could contribute to the risk of road traffic collisions through engagement and enforcement where necessary.
•Reduce the number of casualties and improve driver/rider behaviour.

If you’re a rider looking to refresh your skills, Rider Refinement courses for 2026 are ongoing.
These one-day sessions run across the country between April and October and are delivered by Police Scotland’s Road Policing Unit, supported by IAM RoadSmart.

If Scottish bikers don't attend these events then we'll lose Knockhill Skills Days.
It's the best circuit, it's a brilliant way to improve motorcycle skills, it's great value (Knockhill is the most expensive track to hire).
You won't spend your biking money on anything better.

We’ve had several texts from our members saying they had a brilliant day at Knockhill with Police Scotland, IAM RoadSmart and with plenty of familiar faces flying the flag for safer riding.

But here’s the real question… did anyone spot our very own Gordon Advanced Motorists member sneaking in with an on camera interview and some track time with his wife?
Not all heroes wear capes…..some just disappear onto the circuit when no one’s looking 👀

All jokes aside, it was a cracking event promoting road safety for motorcyclists of all levels.
If you get the chance, definitely think about signing up.

Seven bikes, one mission… fish & chips! 🍟🐟

A great turnout from Gordon Advanced Motorists for our Tuesday night run out to Hook, Line & Sinker in Portsoy. Perfect riding on the way up, good company, and top notch food at the end of it 👌

The ride back? Let’s just say it was refreshingly cold 🥶 but nothing that could dampen a cracking evening on the bikes.

All in all, a brilliant run.
Same again next week? 🏍️💨

Gordon Advanced Motorists were proud to attend the first Rider Refinement North East event of 2026 this weekend 🏍️

It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with riders from across the region, share knowledge, and promote safer, more advanced riding skills. Events like this are a great reminder of the importance of continuous learning and development on the road.

A big thank you to everyone involved in organising the day and to all the riders who took part, your enthusiasm and commitment to improving standards is what makes the riding community so strong.

We’re already looking forward to the next one!
