🌿 Grampian and Tayside Birth Partners SCIO is recruiting people to join our board of charity trustees.

🌿 Trustees meet four times a year either online or in person, and have a unique role overseeing policy and strategic direction rather than getting involved with day-to-day operations.

🌿 We need people who share our vision and values, and can look at the big picture.

🌿 It's an important responsibility and one which will really make a difference within Grampian and Tayside Birth Partners.

🌿 Your main duty will be to uphold the legal requirements of the charity in line with OSCR guidance, helping to decide how public funds are allocated, and communicating with our small management team.

🌿 Anyone with enthusiasm for the role will be considered however we're particularly keen to hear from those with experience in accounting, fundraising, HR, psychology or obstetrics. We're also actively seeking representation from people of colour and members of minority ethnic communities.

🌿 Applications should be made in writing either via the link in our bio, email to [email protected] or DM.

Our next Grampian training starts in ONE WEEK! It has really crept up!

We're so excited for this one and road testing our new training model.

To recap, all of our new volunteers will be required to attend TWO DAYS of training in person at Aberdeen Central Library on the 27th and 28th April.

Volunteer birth partners with no previous birth support experience will also qualify for funded doula training with at a value of £850 per person - all we ask in return is that you commit to volunteering with us for at least a year before taking on any private clients.

Our red tent sessions will take place on Saturday mornings via Zoom throughout May and June.

We've also got a couple of bonus sessions on local plants to forage now and essential oils to use to support people in the childbearing year. 🌿😍

DM us now or email [email protected] for the full list of dates or to arrange a chat and find out more.

We're extending our closing date by an extra day so you've got today and tomorrow to drop us a line before registration closes at midnight on Sunday 19th April.

This training is funded by the wonderful .shire and for that reason, places will be prioritised for volunteers who can support women and families living in Aberdeenshire, who are likely to have their babies at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

Have you looked into our volunteer doula training? Because it’s had a bit of a glow up!

We wanted to make this training as accessible as humanly possible. We get it - we parent, we work, we volunteer, and we want to make this as easy for you to fit into your life as possible.

Do you have time to dedicate to attending a birth? If you do, then this might be the opportunity for you. Our Grampian birth partner training is taking place on the 27th and 28th April at Aberdeen Central Library. It's followed by six Red Tent Doula Training sessions which are all online. We may also be able to facilitate joining online for the library sessions, though we'd really love you to attend in person if you can!

Our training is fully funded by the Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund via Aberdeenshire Voluntary Action, which means it is free for anyone who can support clients in Aberdeenshire.

If you ever felt called to attend a birth, or help someone vulnerable or at risk of birthing alone, we would love to hear from you.

We're not asking you to complete an application form at this stage, though you can if you like. Please just DM us or email [email protected] so we can arrange a chat and get you signed up!

Can't wait to hear from you!

Cassie and Arleen 💖🫶🏼

Have you ever felt called to support people giving birth? Perhaps you have already looked into training as an independent birth partner or doula.

At Grampian and Tayside Birth Partners this is exactly what we do, offering the highest quality birth partner and doula training in return for your time supporting disadvantaged and marginalised women who might otherwise have to go through labour and birth alone.

Our next training is fully funded by Aberdeenshire Voluntary Action, which means that it is completely free to access for those signing up to volunteer supporting women and birthing people in Aberdeenshire.

Places are limited, so join us on a call to see if we are the right fit for your skills and capacity!

We will be running two calls, we have Saturday 7th March at 10am and Thursday 19th March at 11am. We would love to welcome you at either one of these, however if you are extra keen to train with us, let us know if you can’t make these dates, and another would be better. We understand that childcare isn’t always abundant and life is constantly happening!

We only have TWO calls left before we finalise our April training cohort, so this is your opportunity to meet us, find out what we're about and ask any questions about the birth partner role. We're always looking out for volunteers behind the scenes too, if that's something you'd be interested in.

WHAT A WEEK.

We have had to sit and let it all sink in.

First of all, massive thanks to all the wonderful women who participated this week. Many more than in the photos!

Massive shout out to for joining us and spending the end of the week delivering the most amazing, group tailored training.

We are completely astounded by the commitment and the hive mind we have here in Tayside. These beautiful people banded together, had their (AMAZING) contacts come to talk to us and offer us help to steer us in the right direction.

Cassie and Arleen spent the first half of the week discussing the role of a volunteer team member within our wee charity, the policies and procedures we have in place to keep us and our services users safe (which was actually a really interactive and rewarding session!) and chatting about the basics of birth, common interventions and helping clients to create a birth plan.

The second half of the week was led by Nicola Goodall, and it’s safe to say that everyone is excited to be part of the Red Tent community. Some are already planning take their learning further, whether that's joining Nicola's Herbarium or diving into postpartum study.

Honestly guys, we are so beyond grateful and proud of everyone of you for showing up and bringing your fire to make the good stuff happen.

If you are inspired and keen to get on the next round of training then please use the link in our bio to get involved, or click here if you're viewing this on Facebook: Volunteer Application Form https://forms.gle/fq87gPjeRgQwMpaA8

Our next info call is on Thursday 11th December at 10am, and the next training we have scheduled is in central Aberdeen in the last week of April 2026. Places are being booked up already, so now is the time to start thinking about it if you would like to join us!

Calling everyone who has been thinking of joining us!

Hello! The response to the Dundee training has been immense, so thank you to everyone who has been in touch 😍🙏🏼

Did you miss the group calls?
Do you have FOMO?
Were you keen to offer support to pregnant mums and folks, but life got in the way and you forgot to apply?
Maybe you want to be involved but can’t commit to birth support?

Don’t worry, we’ve got you! Parent helpers and trustees are also needed, as well as birth partners.

If you wanted to be added to the birth partner training waiting list, get in touch and let us know. If you're considering being a parent helper or another behind the scenes role, we will likely be able to squeeze you in last minute (as we're now in a much bigger venue the first two days, which is fully wheelchair accessible!)

We know that attending births is sometimes a logistic minefield, but you can still get involved with our lovely wee charity either supporting families during pregnancy, or supporting your fellow volunteers ☺️
