Aberdeen Malayalee Association (AMA) is a socio-cultural and educational organisation representing the tradition and the rich heritage of Kerala, a state in south India. It is a non-profit, non-political and non-religious organisation of Keralites residing in and around Aberdeen, Scotland, United Kingdom. AMA, a dream and a vision of the Malyalees in Aberdeen came into being on the 1st of January
2007 with nearly 70 member households and is flourished into a big organisation . The association aims to improve the quality of life of its members’ by organising family get-togethers, outings, cultural and sportive events & traditional festivals of Kerala. It’s a platform for the members to meet and share their views and ideas to foster friendship, togetherness and values of our rich heritage. The strength of the association lies very much with every of it’s members in their relentless and selfless effort to uphold and to exchange the social, cultural and moral values to each and everyone, especially to the younger generation. We encourage and support our children to be independent, self-sufficient and morally firm by providing a congenial atmosphere to nurture and nourish the qualities to strive ahead happily. In short, AMA aims to bring all the members into a common platform, culture and lifestyle, thereby creating a sense of oneness, self & mutual respect among each other through the various activities to develop a pleasant environment for our children to grow up with the community’s rich tradition and values of life. AIMS & OBJECTIVES
To promote unity and cooperation of the member families and individuals to facilitate a sense of oneness and thereby enrich their social, cultural and educational enhancement and the community in general. To provide a platform for the community members to meet, discuss and promote Malayalam language and culture. To foster the development of our children in the correct direction, imbibing the cultural, traditional, social & personal values of our rich inheritance. To conduct the traditional festivals of Kerala, sportive and cultural events to bring the members together and give them a chance to showcase their skills & talents. To cooperate and engage with other organisations in areas of common interest and benefits. To extend a helping hand to the members in distress and if needed raise money for charity.
