John and Neil mowed the grass
We then put up the edging along the path on the burn bank, with help from John, Bernard, Neil and Craig
We have purchased membrane material, so all that remains is to install the membrane with hardcore on top

John spent last weekend completing the path alongside the burn. All than is left now is to put down some Quarry Bust and edging on the burn side
Bernard went down on Saturday and replaced the bird boxes that had fallen down and replace the fairy doors that had fallen off the trees. Also spent some time tidying up the flower bed (still a bit of work to do there)

The Viburnum is in blossom, the bay tree is looking very healthy despite the snow and the bulbs are flowering. Delighted with the wood anemones and would love to plant more in the wooded area . Even the Sedum is doing its thing around the willow arbour

Some Foxgloves and Aquilegia/Grannies bonnet/columbine , overwintered in all that snow earlier in the year, and now planted along the upper bank of the burn side and in a small area of the long bed. Hopefully they will survive the transplanting and take off with the warmer weather and freedom to spread their roots. The columbine is either side of the anemone plant in the 4th photo

We spent some more time on the burnside path today. John and Neil did the “heavy lifting”, whist Bernard cut up the branches and packed ready to take to recycling. We are going as far as the trees at the far end, so one more session should see it.
We have a number of trees that have self seeded along the burn edge (I believe that they could be willow?). We have dug some of these up and planted equally along the burn edge, The thinking is that if we can create ca “canopy” over the burn, we will get less algae growing in the burn and clogging it up.
NOTE: Belhelvie Community Trust is having a Volunteer Recruitment Open Day 12-4pm on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th at the Sand Bothy, Balmedie Country Park AB23 8XG, looking for volunteers for all the groups in the area. So if you fancy helping us out - go to this Open Day at see what is involved😀

A little bit of "Springing" going on in the Park at Panmure Gardens. The bulbs we planted in Autumn have popped up in the mini orchard and flower bed , and catkins flowering on the Willow arbour.

Today was fertilising day at the Potterton Community Garden
We fertilised the long flower bed, conifers, raised flower beds and the mini-orchard
Thanks to Middleton Farm for supplying the manure and to Neil and John Burr for transporting it, and John and Bernard for spreading the fertiliser on the plants.

Happy New Year everyone!!
John and Bernard spent 3 hours extending the path alongside the burn and planting some young trees kindly donated by “Better Balmedie’s” Dai Davies - thank you Dai!
Whilst Neil, Craig and Jane took down the Christmas lights from the trees. The battery operated lights proved to be a bit problematic, so we may have to investigate alternative power sources for next year

Bernard spent a couple of hours extended the path along the burnside by about 3- 4 yards, and scattered some Yellow Rattle seeds. John had also done similarly work earlier in the month. It’s slow going (and hard work), but we’ll get there.eventually. When it’s finished it will give PV a lot better access the area for maintenance and planting.
The next job will be to have a look at the bird boxes, there are at least 3 on the ground and two missing (could be in the undergrowth)
