We are excited to announce our next artist-in-residence, !

A Professor of Art at Tulane University, Teresa Cole also holds the Maxine and Ford Graham Chair in Fine Art. Her work explores pattern as a language of abstraction and identity, using shifts in scale, repetition, and layering to create immersive works that challenge our perception of space.

Opening next week: Arborescences by former artist-in-residence Linda Williams!

For her exhibition, the artist presents a body of work that took root during her residency.

She has been working with fragments of wood scarred by mining and industrial logging in Sweden. From these materials, she has produced her own pigments and charcoal. Once ground into a fine powder, the charcoal is mixed with water to saturate paper or canvas. This process gives rise to ghostly silhouettes of trunks and imaginary landscapes that sometimes bear a curious resemblance to the very places where the materials were sourced.
