Summer is arriving in Le Havre, bringing longer evenings, outdoor cafés, music in the streets, and plenty of opportunities to connect with people from around the world.

🌟 Member Spotlight: Nico 🇫🇷

This month’s spotlight is a little emotional for us, as we say goodbye to NICOLAS DUNEUFGERMAIN, who is leaving Le Havre for new adventures. 💛

Over the past year, Nico generously gave up so much of his free time to help organise and facilitate our monthly French Conversation Meetups. As a French language trainer, he created a welcoming space where members could practise French, gain confidence, laugh at mistakes together, and simply connect.

One of the things that makes LH Connections special is that it’s an association run by its members. Nobody is ever expected or obligated to organise activities — members can participate as much or as little as they like. But when people step forward like Nico did, it really helps the community grow and thrive.

His kindness, patience, and positive energy made a real difference to many people arriving in Le Havre, especially those trying to improve their French and feel more at home here.

Thank you, Nico, for everything you brought to LH Connections. We’ll miss you greatly and wish you all the very best for this exciting next chapter. 🌍✨

March with LH Connections!

From coffee meetups and book club discussions to board games and trips to Le Volcan, there’s something for everyone this month.

We’re also trying something new with an AI talk on the 18th as some of our members want discuss & learn more about this subject. We’re always open to trying new event ideas & meetups, so if there’s something you’d like to organise or see happen in the community, let us know.

🌟 Member Spotlight: Terry O’Leary 🇬🇧 (Burnley, Lancashire)

“Being part of this community is truly one of the highlights of my time in Le Havre. It’s the perfect mix of international and French members, which makes it easy and enjoyable to switch between English and French conversations.

The wide range of activities at different times is ideal for me, especially since my availability can be limited with work. There’s absolutely no pressure to attend every session, and there’s always a great selection of different groups to choose from.

As an avid reader, I particularly enjoy the book club. And of course, being a bit of an English cliché, I love a beer, so the apéro nights quickly became a firm favourite!

I even pushed myself to organise a couple of events, including a karaoke night and a pétanque session, definitely things I would never have imagined doing outside this group, but that I ended up really enjoying!”

A Message from Our President:

As we begin this new year, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on what LH Connections represents and thank everyone who has been part of this journey.

Nearly four years ago, our "asso" was created to bring people together - especially those arriving in Le Havre without knowing anyone, the language, or the local customs (which can sometimes be surprising or even a little challenging). Today, we're a group of around 120 families, all with different backgrounds and stories that led them here.

Over the years, some expats who later returned to their home country or moved elsewhere have told me how much this group helped them feel welcome and supported during their time in Le Havre. Knowing that LH Connections made their experience easier and more meaningful is something I'm truly grateful for.

LH Connections is about meeting people, discovering cultures, building friendships, and enjoying life in Le Havre together. And if your job, your family, or simply life offers you the opportunity to come and live in Le Havre - I hope you take it. You'll find a city full of charm, culture, and friendly people ready to welcome you.
