Driffield Battlefield Tours The self-titled 'Driffield Historical Society,' founded 2005, embarks on annual trips to the battlefields of WWI and WWII in France and Belgium.

The self-titled 'Driffield Historical Society' was founded in early 2005 through a mutual interest in WWII history and a desire to visit the D-Day beaches of Normandy. The first trip - using Leger Holidays - took place in December that year, and took the group to various sites along the Normandy coast, staying just outside Caen, and visiting Omaha Beach, Ste Mere Eglise, Ranville, the Pegasus Brid

ge, the Bourgebus Ridge and more. Since then, we've been on Leger trips to various WWII and WWI battlefields, including the Battle of the Bulge in the Ardennes Forest, Arnhem, The Somme, Ypres.... and a return trip to Normandy. April 2015 will see the group return to Belgium once more to undertake Leger's 'Shot At Dawn' tour, commemorating the poor souls who were executed by their own side during the Great War, and visiting associated sites in the Ypres and Somme areas.
