Our volunteers are well looked after at all schools during equipment distribution trips, and usually treated to the beautiful choirs of our Lauan students and teachers, to show their heartfelt appreciation🥰

LECT has been truly blessed to have received since Charitable Trust registration in 2021 the support of the Vuanirewa, paramount chiefly household of the province of Lau💛 All work the organisation has undertaken in the past five years has been with the complete direct involvement of our Marama Patrons🙏🏽

* Who hold patronage and leadership of our two charities: LECT Australia🇦🇺 and LECT Fiji🇫🇯

Since establishment, the experienced all-Lauan Board has provided the balanced and stable leadership required to grow the organisation, discharge its duties and drive the organisation’s vision.

We pay tribute to our past Board members, and as with all organisations, personnel changes have occurred over the years. Our current Australian Board comprises seven members, and three of whom are also Fiji Trustees 🙏🏽

We look forward to continuing to serve the Yasana ko Lau’s students with the same level of dedication, passion and commitment demonstrated in its five year journey to date🥰

LECT’s Presentation to the Bose Ni Yasana ko Lau’s annual conference last week was well received and subsequently, a private audience by our Fiji Chair with the Turaga Bale na Tui Nayau, Sau ni Vanua ko Lau, Tui Lau was arranged and took place on Monday this week💛

For the past five years, LECT has built some excellent relationships and grown its global and local profile through its work. Through our generous donors, corporate sponsorships and some government assistance, our Charity has fully funded and organised all its work and programs🫶🏽

At our recent private presentation for the Turaga, we had the valuable opportunity to table a number of matters relating to the organisation’s vision and future work, including the pressing need for schools’ solarisation, Internet connectivity and computer literacy💻

As a fully fledged Yasana ko Lau education charity, the endorsement and continuing support by the Vanua and the Lau Provincial Council is crucial for the organisation’s continued success!

The meeting was a tremendous success in this regard and LECT is humbled and extremely grateful with the Turaga’s support, endorsement and encouragement🥰

We are most grateful to Ratu Tevita Vakacereivalu and the turaga Roko Tui Lau Mr. Jioji Kalounivalu for their support and coordinating the meeting🙏🏽

Last week’s Bose Ni Yasana (BNY) ko Lau was an esteemed occasion for all Lauans with the presence for the first time in over two decades of our paramount Chief: Ratu Tevita Kapaiwai Lutunauga Uluilakeba Mara, our recently installed Turaga bale na Tui Nayau, Sau ni Vanua ko Lau, na Tui Lau🙏🏽

It was hence an honour for LECT to once again present to the BNY as we have done annually since our Charity’s establishment in 2021. It was an opportunity for the Turaga to learn first hand of the organisation’s achievements delivered to Lau’s 46 ECCs, 45 primary schools and 6 high schools summarised as follows:

▪️$500,000 project assistance
▪️100 tonnes of education equipment
▪️3,500 Solarbuddy study lamps
▪️$100,000 (total project cost) UNDP grant plus LECT funded solar electricity installation for one of our high schools

Our sponsors include Swire Shipping who have provided pro bono international freight, Benowa State High School with school equipment, Rotary International Brisbane for most of our donated school equipment, as well as Fiji Airways with assistance on SolarBuddy.org lamps distribution💕

LECT’s achievements would not be possible without the tremendous support of our selfless and passionate volunteers led by Chair Fiji Aunty Ana Masikete And a big malo vaka levu Temesia Tuicaumia Rachel Tamani for a sterling job at the BNY ko Lau 2026 on behalf of Lau Education Charitable Trust Fiji 🫶🏽💛

✨ Soft Launch of the Ua Ni Cagi Charity Ball ✨

The Lau Education Charitable Trust proudly held the soft launch of its 2026 flagship fundraising event, the Ua Ni Cagi Charity Ball, at the iconic Grand Pacific Hotel today, leading up to the main gala in August.

We were honored to host media and partners as we shared our vision for improving maritime education across the Lau Islands.
