The Fijian Crested Iguana is a true icon of our islands, but habitat loss and invasive predators have threatened their survival for decades. That’s where the Ahura Resorts Conservation Foundation steps in.

Our specialized breeding and species recovery program Likuliku Lagoon Resort, Fiji focuses on:

Controlled Breeding: Ensuring genetic diversity and healthy hatchlings.

Habitat Restoration: Replanting native dry forest trees that these iguanas rely on for food and shelter.

Predator Management: Keeping our sanctuary safe from feral cats and rats.

It takes a village to protect a species, and we are so grateful to our partners, local communities, and guests who make this vital work possible.

🌊 Happy World Ocean Day from paradise! 🌊

Today, the Ahura Resorts Conservation Foundation teamed up with our wonderful guests Malolo Island Resort.

We believe that protecting our oceans starts with action. Together, we spent the afternoon focused on coral preservation—specifically, carefully attaching resilient coral fragments to our reef stars. These structures provide the perfect stable base for new coral colonies to thrive and grow.

The best part? These newly planted reef stars are making their way over to the Likuliku Lagoon Resort marine reserve, where they will join our existing underwater nurseries to further restore and beautify our vibrant house reef. 🪸✨

A massive vinaka vakalevu (thank you very much) to all of our guests who joined us today!

Enjoyed a visit from the Ahura Resorts Conservation Foundation team today where they shared their ongoing coral conservation and restoration effort with our director. It is great to see locally trained marine biologists having the opportunity to help preserve and protect our coral reefs and engage tourists in the process with them.

We shared some suggestions on possible ways to improve their efforts, including tools to support the establishment and incorporation of standardize, long-term coral/benthic community monitoring into their efforts as well as ways to expand the ecological impact of their efforts beyond the immediate restoration site.

Great work team - keep up the wonderful effort!

Building a better reef, one star at a time! 🌊✨

We are thrilled to welcome back Peter Whiteside, our lead consultant for the MARRS (Mars Assisted Reef Restoration System) project. Peter is back on the shores of this week, working hand-in-hand with our dedicated marine biology team.

The mission? Deploying 200 brand-new Reef Stars to help breathe new life into our local coral ecosystems. These structures provide the stable base needed for coral fragments to thrive, ensuring a vibrant future for our oceans.

Today, we join the global community in celebrating a milestone that is as legendary as the man himself. Happy 100th Birthday to Sir David Attenborough! 🌿

Sir David, thank you for showing us the magic of the wild and inspiring us to fight for its future. Here’s to a century of wonder, and many more years of collective action for our "Perfect Planet." 🌏✨

There’s something magical about working in the stillness of the morning to give back to the ocean that gives us so much. A massive vinaka vakalevu to our volunteers for your passion and early-morning energy!

Stay tuned for more updates as these little fragments begin their journey to becoming a thriving reef. 🐚🙌

🌊 Making Magic Happen Under the Waves! 🪸

Our incredible marine biologists, Lu and Kado, have been hard at work behind the scenes!

They are currently busy prepping 200 reef stars—the literal "building blocks" of a healthier ocean. Each star is carefully handcrafted and will be loaded with 15 coral fragments, which will soon find their new home right here in our lagoon
