Varsinais-Suomen Kamppailu-Urheilijat ry vie pyörätuoli kamppailulajeja eteenpäin eurooppalaisella yhteistyöllä
Raisiolainen Varsinais-Suomen Kamppailu-Urheilijat ry (VSKU) sai projektilleen, ’Kamppailulajien ohjaajille
pyörätuolikamppailun ohjaajakoulutus’, EU:n Erasmus + Sport liikkuvuushankerahoituksen.
Hankkeen tarkoituksena on luoda tasa-arvoiset mahdollisuudet kamppailulajien harrastamiseen myös
pyörätuolin kanssa.
Erasmus+ Sport tarjoaa liikunta- ja urheilusektorin toimijoille mahdollisuuksia eurooppalaiseen yhteistyöhön ja
toiminnan kehittämiseen. Hankkeiden avulla seurat voivat vahvistaa henkilöstön ja vapaaehtoisten osaamista,
kansainvälisiä verkostoja, oppia muiden hyvistä käytännöistä sekä kehittää uusia menetelmiä ja
toimintamalleja.
Ajatus hankkeesta sai alkunsa jo kesällä 2023, kun seuran puheenjohtaja Sami Koivumäki tapasi Saksassa Sven
Ziegelin. Maas (Martial Arts of all Styles) Internationalin järjestämällä kesäleirillä Ziegel ohjasi pyörätuoli
itsepuolustusta ja Ju Jutsua. Hänen positiivinen asenteensa ja erilainen ote lajiin tekivät vaikutuksen.
Pyörätuolikamppailun harrastusmahdollisuuksia on tarjolla melko vähän ja ohjaajakoulutusta ei ole. Tilanne on
pitkälti sama myös muualla Euroopassa.
VSKU ry hankki ohjaajilleen koulutuksen, ja nyt he voivat kouluttaa lisää ohjaajia lajiin. Osana hanketta syntyikin
ohjaajakoulutus, jonka avulla voidaan järjestää kursseja ja seminaareja ohjaajille ja laajentaa mahdollisuutta
harrastaa pyörätuolikamppailulajeja ja itsepuolustusta niin Suomessa kuin ympäri Eurooppaa.
Erasmus + Sport tuen avulla VSKU:n ohjaajia ja seuratoimijoita koulutettiin ensin Ruotsin Lundissa ja
myöhemmin Heidelbergissä Saksassa.
Lundissa käytiin opettamisen pedagogista puolta läpi teoriassa ja käytännössä. Maas instructor course phase 1.
kurssi muodostaa pohjan ohjaajakoulutukselle ja -oppaalle.
Heidelbergissä opetukseen lisättiin pyörätuolin tuoma aspekti. Vierailijat saivat ensin teoriaopetusta niin itse
pyörätuoleista, kuin erilaisten sairauksien tuomista haasteista harrastajille.
Teorian jälkeen opeteltiin käytännössä itsepuolustusta ja kamppailua, kuin myös koettiin jokapäiväisiä haasteita
pyörätuolista käsin, kuten ovien avaamista tai vessassa käyntiä.
Oppilaista harjoittelu oli mielenkiintoista ja motivoivaa. Hanke onnistui hienosti ja saa jatkoa vuoden 2025
aikana, kun VSKU järjestää ohjaajakoulutusseminaarin.

VSKU ry takes wheelchair martial arts forward with European cooperation
Martial Arts Association (VSKU) from Raisio, Finland received EU Erasmus + Sport mobility project funding for its
project "Wheelchair instructor training for martial arts instructors".
The purpose of the project is to create equal opportunities for practicing martial arts in a wheelchair.
Erasmus + Sport oƯers opportunities for European cooperation and development of activities for actors in the
sports and physical education sector. With the help of projects, clubs can strengthen the competence of staƯ
and volunteers, international networks, learn from the good practices of others and develop new methods and
operating models.
The idea for the project began in the summer of 2023, when the club's chairman Sami Koivumäki met Sven Ziegel
in Germany. Ziegel taught wheelchair self-defence and Ju Jitsu at a summer camp organized by Maas (Martial
Arts of all Styles) International. His positive attitude and diƯerent approach to the sport made an impression.
There are quite a few opportunities in wheelchair martial arts, and there is no instructor training. The situation is
largely the same elsewhere in Europe.
VSKU ry acquired training for its instructors, and now they can train more instructors in the sport. As part of the
project, certified instructor training was created, which can be used to organize courses and seminars for
instructors and expand opportunities to practice wheelchair martial arts and self-defence both in Finland and
around Europe.
With the help of Erasmus + Sport support, VSKU instructors and club operators were trained first in Lund,
Sweden, and later in Heidelberg, Germany.
In Lund, the pedagogical side of teaching was examined in theory and practice. Phase 1 of the Maas instructor
course forms the basis and guide for instructor training.
In Heidelberg, the perspective brought by the wheelchair was added to the teaching. The visitors first received
theoretical instruction about wheelchairs themselves and the challenges that various illnesses pose to
enthusiasts.
After the theory, we learned practical self-defence and fighting, as well as experiencing everyday challenges in a
wheelchair, such as opening doors or using the toilet.
The students found the training interesting and motivating. The project was a great success and will be continued
in 2025, when VSKU will organize an instructor training seminar.
