ئێمە لە کۆنفیدراسیۆنی ڕەوەندی کوردستانیدا، لەکاتێکدا بە شکۆوە یادی شەهیدان دەکەینەوە، دووپاتی دەکەینەوە بەردەوام دەبین لە کارکردن بۆ ناساندنی ئەم تاوانە لە ئاستی نێودەوڵەتیدا وەک جینۆساید، تا مێژوو ڕێگری لە دووبارەبوونەوەی کارەساتی لەو شێوەیە بکات.

To the honorable families of the martyrs and the victims of the Anfal campaign,
To the struggling people of Kurdistan at home and in the diaspora,

July 30 marks the anniversary of one of the most heinous crimes committed by the former Iraqi regime against the people of Kurdistan.
In this campaign, eight thousand innocent souls from the Barzan region were brutally abducted, forcibly taken to the deserts, and systematically massacred.

This campaign was a futile attempt to erase the national identity of the Kurdish people.

We, at the Kurdistani Diaspora Confederation (KDC), while honouring the memory of these martyrs with reverence, reaffirm our continued commitment to working toward the international recognition of this crime as an act of genocide.

Our goal is to ensure that history serves as a deterrent to prevent the repetition of such atrocities.

We bow our heads in respect to the pure souls of the martyrs of the Barzan region and all the martyrs of the Kurdish liberation struggle. Salutations to the resilience of the honourable families and relatives of the martyrs.

I was nine years old when an Iraqi army officer stood before me with a wooden stick in his hand. In those days, it was common for Iraqi officers to carry such sticks. He used it to measure me, deciding whether I was tall enough to be counted as a man. After looking at me, he simply said, “No good.” I was too small. Those two words saved my life.

Kurdistan Team Secures Second Place in the 2026 Finland Cup

The Kurdistan team, representing the Kurdish Diaspora Center in Finland, has secured second place in the 2026 Finland Nations Cup after a successful campaign that led them to the tournament final.

In the final match, the Kurdistan team faced off against the Ghana team. After a hard-fought 90 minutes, the match concluded with a 5-2 victory for Ghana, who claimed the 2026 Nations Cup title.

Although the Kurdistan team demonstrated a strong and consistent performance throughout the final, they were unable to overcome the deficit.
The players showcased their full potential and dedication, securing second place in the tournament for the second consecutive time.

Participation in this tournament was more than just a sporting activity; it served as a significant step in promoting the name of Kurdistan, its culture, and the Kurdish identity among the diverse participants of the championship.

The efforts and dedication of the team’s management and players deserve recognition, as their high level of performance was instrumental in reaching the final stages of the tournament.

The Kurdish Diaspora Center in Finland extends its congratulations to the management, players, and supporters of the Kurdistan team, expressing gratitude for their hard work and commitment.

KDC Condemns Attacks on Erbil and Sulaimani

In response to the recent attacks on the cities of Erbil and Sulaymaniyah, the Kurdistani Diaspora Confederation (KDC) strongly condemns these assaults and warns against turning the territory of the Kurdistan Region into a battleground for settling regional disputes.

Simultaneously, the Confederation calls for immediate and practical responses from the Iraqi government, the international community, and Coalition forces.

On July 17, 2026, a series of missile and drone attacks targeted the Kurdistan Region in both Erbil and Sulaimani provinces, resulting in the martyrdom of nine Peshmerga fighters and injuries to several others. These attacks, considered a flagrant and dangerous violation of the Kurdistan Region’s sovereignty, pose a genuine threat to the stability of the region.
Similar attacks have occurred in various parts of the Kurdistan Region in the past, consistently sparking intense internal and external concern and condemnation, particularly regarding the need to prevent the use of the Region’s territory for regional conflicts.

Kurdish short film wins international Award in the UK

The artistic short film My Paper Boat (Beleme Kagheziyekem), which weaves a profound narrative filled with compelling imagery, has shined among dozens of international productions.
The film secured the award for “Best Visual Effects” at the Independent Film Awards in the United Kingdom, marking a new milestone for the Kurdish cinematic movement.

Hozan Sherzad, the writer and director of the film, noted that the production phase began in early 2025.

He explained that this success is not merely a testament to directorial skill, but the result of dedicated teamwork, where artists and experts from various fields collaborated with a deep sense of responsibility to bring this creative vision to life.

A central and symbolic element of the film’s narrative—the paper boat itself—was crafted by Chalak Latif and Ali Nawzad.

These two artists spent four days of tireless effort to construct the boat, followed by several more days meticulously arranging the decor and intricate film requirements.

Those days became a source of shared experience, fond memories, and unparalleled cooperation for the entire crew.

Regarding the international competition, the director stated that the film was selected from over 60 entries from across the globe.

After a rigorous evaluation by the jury, winners were chosen in eight categories.

My Paper Boat was rightfully awarded Best Visual Effects for its meticulous detail, innovation, and the hard work of the visual team.

Hozan Sherzad emphasized that for the team, this accolade is not just a title; it is clear evidence that through rigorous and sincere work, Kurdish productions can secure their rightful place on the international stage. He expressed his joy in being able to contribute, in his own way, to the growth of Kurdish cinema and to leave a lasting impact.

My Paper Boat, written and directed by Hozan Sherzad, has previously received warm acclaim and achieved significant success at both local and regional levels.
