We are proud to highlight this collaboration with ASDEPO Ethiopia, an organization with a deep-rooted history of serving our community. This logistical support has been a vital force multiplier for our current emergency response operations.

Partnerships like this ensure that we can continue to deliver hope and help to the frontlines.

🚨In Solidarity with Gamo Zone Communities

We extend our deepest condolences to the families and communities affected by the recent landslide disaster in Gamo Zone.

We acknowledge the ongoing efforts and strong coordination led by the Federal Government, Regional authorities, and partners responding to this crisis under challenging conditions.

In support of these efforts, READIO Ethiopia is supporting the response through the deployment of a multidisciplinary volunteer health team, including medical doctors, psychiatrists, nurses, and public health professionals, for a one-week initial phase, in collaboration with partners including ASDEPO.

Our team is currently engaging in:
• Mobile health services
• Psychosocial support
• Basic health and nutrition screening
• Community health education

This engagement is made possible through local resource mobilization and the commitment of volunteer professionals, reflecting the importance of local capacity in emergency response.

While important progress is being made, significant needs remain, particularly in reaching hard-to-access communities and supporting vulnerable groups.

🤝 Continued coordination, partnership, and support are essential to ensure timely and effective assistance reaches those most in need.

🌍 From Last Mile to Global Spotlight

We are honored that Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance has featured the story of the communities we serve and the work of READIO Ethiopia.

What began as reaching families in remote areas where healthcare was out of reach has grown into a mission to deliver care, prevention, and hope to underserved communities.

This recognition belongs to:
❤️ The communities who trust us
👩🏽‍⚕️ The volunteers who serve with compassion
🤝 The local health partners who walk alongside us

Together, we are proving that healthcare can reach the last mile when people come together with commitment and heart.

We remain dedicated to strengthening community health, supporting immunization and child health, and standing with those who need care the most.

Grateful for every person who makes this mission possible. The journey continues.

In rural Ethiopia’s Abela Abaya district, one doctor once served a population of 50,000 people. Now, he makes an even greater difference through his non-profit READIO, which provides free healthcare services to remote, under-served and crisis-affected communities in Ethiopia.

Here’s how he’s stretching limited resources to meet overwhelming need. https://bit.ly/4t5epwr

READIO Ethiopia Hosts Health Experts for Experience Sharing Dialogue

Today, READIO Ethiopia had the pleasure of hosting a meaningful professional discussion with Dr. Abereham and Mr. Meskele, respected health experts affiliated with the Hailemariam & Roman Foundation (HRF).

They joined us in their individual professional capacity for a knowledge-sharing conversation, during which we presented READIO’s grassroots health service experience and community impact since 2020 in underserved and hard-to-reach areas.

The discussion focused on maternal and child health priorities, field realities, and community-centered healthcare approaches. The meeting was attended by READIO Ethiopia’s Board Chairperson, members of the management team, and CEO Dr. Lisanwork Honsebo.

We value open dialogue and the exchange of experience with professionals who share a passion for improving health outcomes for vulnerable communities.

“When healthcare reaches the community, suffering stops.”

This testimony is shared by Priest Tesfahun Deneke, Director of Abela Abaya Orthodox Theology School, reflecting a real experience of how community-based maternal healthcare and ultrasound services transformed his family’s life.

What once required traveling more than 100 miles to the city, with high transport costs and hardship, became available within the rural community through READIO’s local health services.

This is the impact of sustainable, community-centered healthcare:
• Services delivered close to home
• Local capacity strengthened
• Trust built through service
• Dignity restored

We share this testimony not for recognition, but to amplify the voice of the community and demonstrate what equitable healthcare truly means.
