On , READIO Ethiopia reflects on its journey from a local initiative to a network of over 200 multidisciplinary professionals serving vulnerable communities.

Our founder and director, Dr. Lisanwork Honsebo, established READIO after experiencing firsthand the daily challenges faced by local communities, including severe flooding and damaged infrastructure. That shared reality shaped our organization's commitment to last mile health, relief, and development.

Today, we honor our team members and humanitarian workers everywhere who dedicate their efforts to supporting communities in need.

On this 2026, we don't look ahead to some distant day when youth will be ready.

Instead, we honor the truth we witness in Ethiopia every day: Youth is not just a hope for tomorrow, but a dynamic, compassionate strength that is vital right now.

When we founded READIO Ethiopia in 2020, we started with a core conviction: the power to heal and build is already within us. We chose to move beyond waiting for the "perfect time" or distant resources, and to trust in our own hands.

Our journey now encompassing 200+ dedicated multidisciplinary volunteers across the nation, working with humble community contributions and government collaboration has become a shared testimony. Together, without external funding, we’ve quietly implemented 16 projects, from nutritional care to sustainable water access, and had the immense privilege to serve over 63,000 of our neighbors.

We share this impact not to boast, but to encourage.

This proof from our volunteers who treat a child's malnutrition while simultaneously building their food security and school access is a message to everyone: A small community contribution, offered with commitment, can change a life. You have the power today.

ድርጅታችን READIO Ethiopia፣ ከአፌዴሪ የሲቪል ማህበራት ድርጅቶች ባለስልጣን (ACSO)፣ ከPHE Ethiopia Consortium እና ከሌሎች የሲቪል ማህበራት ድርጅት አጋሮች ጋር በመተባበር በተዘጋጀው የጋራ የችግኝ ተከላ መርሃ ግብር ላይ በንቃት ተሳታፊ ሆኗል።

በዚህ መርሃ ግብር ላይ ዛሬ የምንተክላት እያንዳንዷ ችግኝ፣ ለወደፊቱ ትውልድ ጤናማ፣ አረንጓዴ እና ጥንካሬ ያለው አካባቢን ለመገንባት የምናደርገው ታላቅ ኢንቨስትመንት ናት።

የአካባቢ ጥበቃን ከህብረተሰብ ጤና ጋር በማጣመር የተሻለች ኢትዮጵያን ለመገንባት በሚደረገው ጥረት ላይ አብረውን ለሰሩ አካላት በሙሉ ምስጋናችንን እናቀርባለን።

Lung cancer affects millions worldwide, and early signs can often be subtle. Increasing community awareness around risk factors and early symptoms is essential to improving health outcomes and saving lives.

🎉 A meaningful milestone for READIO Ethiopia! 🫁🌍

We are honored to be selected by the European Lung Foundation (ELF) as one of the Healthy Lungs for Life 2026 Global Grant recipients.

Among more than 350 applications from around the world, READIO Ethiopia’s community-led project was selected to support respiratory health education, clean air awareness, and vaccination promotion activities.

While this is a small grant, its impact goes far beyond the funding itself. This recognition strengthens our commitment to working with communities, volunteers, and partners to improve health awareness and promote healthier lives.

We are grateful to the European Lung Foundation, our dedicated volunteers, partners, and the communities who continue to inspire our work.

🚨In Solidarity with Gamo Zone Communities

We extend our deepest condolences to the families and communities affected by the recent landslide disaster in Gamo Zone.

We acknowledge the ongoing efforts and strong coordination led by the Federal Government, Regional authorities, and partners responding to this crisis under challenging conditions.

In support of these efforts, READIO Ethiopia is supporting the response through the deployment of a multidisciplinary volunteer health team, including medical doctors, psychiatrists, nurses, and public health professionals, for a one-week initial phase, in collaboration with partners including ASDEPO.

Our team is currently engaging in:
• Mobile health services
• Psychosocial support
• Basic health and nutrition screening
• Community health education

This engagement is made possible through local resource mobilization and the commitment of volunteer professionals, reflecting the importance of local capacity in emergency response.

While important progress is being made, significant needs remain, particularly in reaching hard-to-access communities and supporting vulnerable groups.
