Tama Community Conservation Area

Tama Community Conservation Area Ethiopia's new community conservation area in the Omo Valley. It has giraffe, elephant, lion and African wild dog.

It's run by four tribes, the Mursi, Bodi, Kwegu, and Ari.

Our community wildlife conservation project was terminated abruptly by USAID. We were protecting some of the last giraffe, lions, and African wild dog left in Ethiopia, while also protecting the land and livelihoods of about 20,000 indigenous people. Many Ethiopians lost their jobs, and we haven’t been authorized to pay the last-month salary they worked for. We only have a few months of funding until the project is entirely broke.
