As the crescent moon marks the beginning of this holy month, I’m feeling incredibly grateful to be part of this group. Ramadan isn't just about fasting; it’s about resetting our hearts, practicing patience, and remembering those less fortunate.
My prayer for us all: May Allah (SWT) accept our fasts, forgive our shortcomings, and fill our homes with peace and barakah. May this month be a turning point for anyone carrying a heavy heart.
Let’s keep each other in our Duas. Who else is ready for the first Suhoor?

PIE-CHNO and the Plan International Country Office team visited Adadle WGSS on 5th February 2026.
The project is implemented by Child Rights Watch (CRW) with funding support from Switzerland. The visit was a good opportunity to observe the progress on the ground, interact with students, teachers, and the community, and strengthen our joint commitment to improving children’s access to safe and quality education.

From 25–26 December 2025, Child Rights Watch (CRW) successfully distributed 500 dignity kits to GBV survivors and school-going girls of reproductive age.

This initiative aims to support girls’ health, dignity, and continued access to education, particularly during their menstrual periods. By addressing menstrual hygiene needs, the distribution helps reduce school absenteeism and dropout rates among girls.

Each dignity kit included:
🧴 Body soap
🧼 Laundry soap
🪥 Toothpaste
🪮 Comb
🧴 Hair oil
🩲 Underwear
👕 T-shirt
🧣 Towel
👜 Bag
🔦 Torch
🩸 Sanitary pads (Always)

These kits promote personal hygiene, safety, and well-being, enabling girls and GBV survivors to live with dignity and confidence.

Together, we are empowering girls to stay in school and thrive. 💙

🌟 Launching the Joint Programme on Strengthening the Institutional Capacity of Ethiopia’s National Gender Machinery 🌟
On December 4, the European Union, together with UN Women, UNFPA, the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office, and the Spanish Cooperation Agency, proudly joined the Ministry of Women and Social Affairs (MoWSA) to officially launch a Joint Programme ultimately aimed at advancing gender equality and empowering women and girls across Ethiopia.
The programme will support stronger national institutions and enhance coordination across government and partners.
The launch brought together key regional, national and international stakeholders, notably heads and deputy heads of regional Bureaus of Women and Social Affairs and with keynote address from, among others, H.E. Dr. Ergogie Tesfaye, Minister of Women and Social Affairs.
🤝 The European Union remains committed to supporting Ethiopia’s efforts to build resilient institutions, promote women’s leadership, and ensure that gender equality remains at the centre of national development.

Ending GBV: Our 16 Days of Activism Campaign Success! 🧡
We're thrilled to share the fantastic news that the CRW Team Kelafo Woreda and the CRW Addle Team have successfully concluded our intensive 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) awareness program!

Working together with the SDC GBV team, we reached hundreds of students and community members across Addle and Kelafo towns. The focus was on educating, empowering, and starting crucial conversations about prevention and protection.

A big thank you to every student, teacher, community leader, and team member who participated. Your commitment to a violence-free future inspires us!

Let's continue to advocate for a community where everyone feels safe and respected. The work doesn't stop here!

Empowering Kelafo Schools to End GBV 🛡️
The CRW Kelafo Team is excited to report on successful school visits that are vital to our mission under the GBV Service for Survivors Project.

We are moving beyond awareness to build a durable, school-based system of support and prevention!

Focus on Empowerment:
Club Strengthening: We worked closely with established Gender Clubs and Child Protection Clubs to ensure they are the front-line drivers of change and safety within their schools.

Enforcing Mechanisms: The training focused on strengthening both GBV response and prevention mechanisms, turning knowledge into actionable steps.

Clear Pathways: A critical component was ensuring that referral and reporting channels are accessible, confidential, and well-understood by students and staff, connecting potential survivors directly to the professional support services offered by the project.

Empowering students to lead the conversation and know their rights is the most powerful tool for creating a violence-free learning environment in Kelafo.

Thank you to the entire CRW Kelafo Team for their dedication to protecting the most vulnerable in our community.

📚 Empowering the Next Generation to End GBV! 🛡️
We're proud to share the success of the CRW Addle Team's recent school-based awareness campaign, conducted under the umbrella of the SDC GBV Project.

Our team conducted vital visits to schools to ensure that our Gender Clubs and Child Protection Clubs are fully equipped and empowered.

Key Actions & Impact:
Enforcing Response & Prevention: We worked with students and staff to strengthen local mechanisms for responding to and preventing Gender-Based Violence (GBV) right within the school environment.

Accessible Reporting: Crucially, we focused on making referral and reporting channels more accessible and confidential for all students, ensuring that every child knows where to turn for support.

Empowering young people—both girls and boys—through these dedicated school clubs is the most sustainable way to drive change and protect the future of our community.

A special thank you to our partners in the SDC GBV Project for their invaluable support in creating safer learning spaces.

Together, we are building a zero-tolerance culture for violence!
