🌱✨ Strengthening Sustainability and Local Ownership of the ENGAGE Project!

On August 7, 2026, Tarkanfi Sustainable Development (TSD) hosted a pivotal one-day workshop at Yaden Hotel, Bishoftu, focused on sustainability and stakeholder engagement for the ENGAGE (Empowering a New Generation of Adolescent Girls) project.

Since April 2024, ENGAGE has been dedicated to empowering adolescent girls, and as we enter our third year, it's crucial to enhance sustainability by fostering local ownership among schools and education structures.

👥 We were thrilled to bring together key representatives from:
• Oromia Education Bureau
• Shaggar and Bishoftu City Education, Finance, and Women Affairs Offices
• School Directors and Gender Focal Persons from our intervention schools
• PTA members and community representatives
• Education officers and Training Board members

🎯 Key workshop highlights included:
✅ Strengthening stakeholder ownership and accountability
✅ Integrating ENGAGE priorities into school plans
✅ Clarifying roles for ongoing support to girls
✅ Enhancing coordination among schools, government, and communities
✅ Establishing community-based monitoring mechanisms
✅ Identifying and supporting at-risk girls

This collaborative effort is vital for ensuring that the progress made through ENGAGE is not only sustained but also institutionalized through local commitment.

💚 Celebration of Malala Day 2026 through colorful Girls Students Movement. 💚
Tarkanfi Sustainable Development has warmly celebrated Malala day on 12/07/ 2026 where girls’ students, TSD staff and other concerned government sector has meaningfully engaged.

The event was colorfully backed with a key explanation of why Malala day celebration is held every year by TSD Executive Director Mrs Worknesh Begi and students were performing impactful messages through poems and comedy that reflects social barriers that hinder their educational journey and how to overcome through education and with determination to achieve their dream. Moreover, a motivational person has also delivered life changing mentorship in away girls students to shape their future life through having vision, keen to attend their education, realistic planning, building confidence, able to made their own decisions, and hard work to achieve their goal.

Finally, the education office recognized the potential of girls students and even as that they are academically performing well than their counter parts in school right now and advised them to achieve their maximum potential and their dream through hard working.
