Co-chaired by the UN Resident Coordinator in Ethiopia, Dr. Ozonnia Ojielo, and our very own Horn of Africa Multi Country Office Director, Ms. Worknesh Mekonnen, this gathering brought together UN agency leaders for a vital conversation on how we work better - together.
From strategic alignment and joint decision-making to unified emergency response and policy advocacy, every discussion was anchored in one shared goal: delivering lasting, sustainable impact for the people of Ethiopia.

signed a new $2.97 million project agreement with the Ministry of Water and Energy (MoWE) to support the Basin Scale Resilience Initiative for Ethiopia (BaSRINET).
This initiative marks a major step forward in strengthening climate resilience and expanding deep groundwater extraction capacity across Ethiopia's most vulnerable basins.

When conflict cuts off water, hope runs dry. That’s why
🇪🇹, with the Ministry of Finance & the , delivered 5 service rigs & cranes to Ethiopia. Now, broken wells are being fixed in days instead of years, bringing safe water back to communities in need.

Under the Lowlands Livelihood Resilience Project ( ), funded by the , has successfully procured 232 motorcycles and 60 vehicles to support the Ministry of Irrigation and Lowlands.
The 232 motorcycles have already been delivered, and the 60 vehicles are currently on their way to Djibouti and will soon be handed over to the Ministry. This fleet will enhance the mobility and operational capacity of teams working to build resilience and improve livelihoods in lowland communities.

🚧The 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲, the Delegation in , and its implementing partners, UNOPS and TMA, convened the Nimule OSBP Steering Committee meeting in Juba today. Chaired by the Hon. Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr Labanya Margaret Mathya Ugila, the Committee approved the project’s move to the construction phase following approval of the overall detailed project engineering design, including the review of the Women & Youth Market design.

𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐥𝐚𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐡 are expected by 𝟏𝟓 𝐎𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐫 2026. The Nimule OSBP will strengthen border management, facilitate trade, and improve the movement of people and goods across South Sudan’s border.

UNOPS Sudan is proud to announce a major step forward: The Ministry of Production and Economic Resources (MoPER) has endorsed Sudan infrastructure designs for the Enhancing Food Security and Resilience (EFSR) project.
With generous funding from the , UNOPS is building a complete agricultural ecosystem to support smallholder farmers and herders across the Red Sea, Kassala, and Gedaref states through various infrastructural components:
New Crop Markets & Storage which is designed to drastically reducing post-harvest crop losses and rotting so farmers can sell more of what they grow, resulting in a more sustainable, year-round food security
Climate-Resilient Model Farms that will Introduce modern systems to increase yields despite climate challenges.
Rehabilitation of Vet clinics; Protecting livestock health and expanding veterinary outreach for local herders.
By integrating these critical facilities, UNOPS will be actively boosting local food production, increasing average household incomes, and creating decent job opportunities for communities that need it most, benefiting the livelihood of the communities.

Thanks to generous funding from the , is rehabilitating the Aldegain and Matatib canals in Kassala. This vital work is bringing clean water back to communities who have been without drinking water since 2018. But it's about more than infrastructure - it's about restoring health, dignity, and a renewed sense of hope for the future.

With generous funding from the Government of , team is officially starting the concrete casting process for the rehabilitation of the General Patients Wards at the Port Sudan Teaching Hospital.
To beat the intense summer heat and ensure the absolute highest quality of Concrete casting, our dedicated teams are out on site working in the early hours of the morning. 🌅👷‍♂️
This vital rehabilitation will breathe new life into the hospital, ensuring a safe, modern, and reliable healthcare environment for the people of Sudan.
