የኢትዮጵያ ቀይ መስቀል ማኅበር የኢትዮጵያ ሚዲያ አገልግሎት (EMS) ነሐሴ 11፣ 2018 ዓ.ም. “ዕለታዊ” በተሰኘው የቴሌቪዥን መርሃ ግብሩ ላይ ስለማኅበሩ አምቡላንሶች ያሰራጨውን ዘገባ ተመልክቷል። በዘገባውም፣ “በአዲስ አበባ … የቀይ መስቀል አምቡላንሶች የኤርትራ፣ የትግራይ፣ የአማራ ተወላጆችን … ወደ ማሰልጠኛ እያጓጓዙ እንደሆነ መረጃ ደርሶናል” የሚል መረጃ ተላልፏል።

የኢትዮጵያ ቀይ መስቀል ማኅበር አምቡላንሶች ከማኅበሩ የሰብዓዊነት፣ ገለልተኝነት፣ አለማዳላት እና ሌሎች መሠረታዊ የቀይ መስቀል መርሆች ጋር በሚጣረስ መልኩ ሰዎችን ለማጓጓዝ ወይም በመሰል ተግባራት ለመሳተፍ እንደማይውሉ በግልጽ ለማሳወቅ ይወዳል። ማኅበሩ የሚያከናውነው የአምቡላንስ አገልግሎት በሰብዓዊ ፍላጎት ላይ የተመሠረተ ሲሆን፣ የብሔር፣ የቋንቋ፣ የፖለቲካ አመለካከት ወይም ሌላ ማንኛውም ልዩነት ሳይደረግ የሰው ሕይወትን ማዳንና ስቃይን ማስታገስ ላይ ያተኮረ ነው፡፡

ስለሆነም በተጠቀሰው ዘገባ የተገለጸውን ዓይነት ተግባር የሚያከናውን የኢትዮጵያ ቀይ መስቀል ማኅበር አምቡላንስ እንደሌለ ማኅበሩ ያረጋግጣል። በመሆኑም ማኅበሩ በመሠረታዊ የሰብዓዊነትና የገለልተኝነት መርሆቹ ላይ በመመሥረት የሚያከናውነውን ሰብዓዊ ተግባር ከሌሎች ዓላማዎች ጋር ማደባለቅ ወይም በተሳሳተ መልኩ ማቅረብ ትክክል ነው ብለን አናምንም።

በሌላ በኩል፣ ማኅበሩ እየተጋፈጠ ያለው አንዱ አሳሳቢ ጉዳይ የማኅበሩን አርማ ያለአግባብ የመጠቀም ጉዳይ ነው፡፡ ይህ ሁኔታ በማኅበሩ የሰብዓዊ አገልግሎት ሂደት ላይ ፈተና እየሆነ ይገኛል። የቀይ መስቀልን አርማ እንዲጠቀሙ ያልተፈቀደላቸውና አርማውን ያለአግባብ የሚጠቀሙ አንዳንድ አካላት ከማኅበሩ የሰብዓዊ ተልዕኮና መርሆች ውጪ የሆኑ ተግባራትን ሲያከናውኑ መታየታቸው፣ በርካቶች እነዚህን ተግባራት ከማኅበሩ ጋር እንዲያያይዙት እያደረገ ይገኛል፡፡

የቀይ መስቀል አርማ የተለየ ሰብዓዊ ትርጉምና ጥበቃ ያለው ምልክት በመሆኑ፣ ያለተገቢ ፈቃድ መጠቀም ወይም አርማውን በማኅበሩ ስምና ተልዕኮ ላይ ጥርጣሬ ሊፈጥር በሚችል መልኩ ማሳየት ተገቢ አይደለም። ማኅበሩ ማንኛውም ግለሰብ፣ ተቋም ወይም ሌላ አካል የማኅበሩን አርማ፣ ስም ወይም መለያ ያለተገቢ ፈቃድ እንዳይጠቀም እና ማኅበሩን በማይወክል ተግባር እንዳያስተሳስር አጥብቆ ይጠይቃል፡፡

በተጨማሪም፣ ማኅበሩ የራሱን ስም፣ አርማ፣ ተሽከርካሪዎች ወይም ሌሎች መለያዎች በመጠቀም ከማኅበሩ የሰብዓዊ ተልዕኮና ከተቀመጡት መርሆች ውጪ የሚከናወን ማንኛውንም ተግባር አይታገስም። ማኅበሩ ከአሠራር መርሆቹ ወይም ከሥነ-ምግባር ደንቦቹ ውጪ የሚንቀሳቀስ ማንኛውም ሠራተኛ፣ አሽከርካሪ ወይም ሌላ የማኅበሩ ተወካይ ቢኖር፣ ጉዳዩ በተገቢው መንገድ ተጣርቶ በማኅበሩ የውስጥ አሠራርና ተፈጻሚ ሕጎች መሠረት አስፈላጊውን እርምጃ እንደሚወስድ ያረጋግጣል።

የሚዲያ ተቋማትና ሌሎች መረጃ የሚያሰራጩ አካላት ከማኅበሩ ጋር በተያያዙ ጉዳዮች ዘገባ ከማቅረባቸው በፊት የመረጃውን ትክክለኛነት ከማኅበሩ በማረጋገጥ መረጃን ለሕዝብ እንዲያቀርቡ ጥሪ እናቀርባለን። በተለይም ከማኅበሩ አምቡላንሶች ወይም አርማ ጋር በተያያዘ አሳሳች ወይም ያልተረጋገጠ መረጃ ማሰራጨት በማኅበሩ ሰብዓዊ አገልግሎት ላይ አላስፈላጊ ጥርጣሬ እንዲፈጠርና ለሕዝብ ያለው እምነት እንዲጎዳ ሊያደርግ ስለሚችል በጥንቃቄ እንዲዘገብ እንጠይቃለን፡፡

በተጨማሪም፣ የቀይ መስቀልን አርማ ወይም ተሽከርካሪ በመጠቀም የማኅበሩን ስምና ተልዕኮ በሚያጠለሽ ተግባር ላይ ተሰማርተው ሲመለከቱ የተሽከርካሪውን ታርጋ ቁጥር፣ ቦታ፣ ቀን እና ተያያዥ መረጃዎችን በመግለጽ ለማኅበሩ እንዲያሳውቁ ጥሪ እናቀርባለን። ማኅበሩ እንደዚህ ያሉ ጉዳዮችን በተገቢው መንገድ በማጣራት ሕጋዊና የውስጥ አሠራሩን ተከትሎ እርምጃዎችን ይወስዳል።

የኢትዮጵያ ቀይ መስቀል ማኅበር ለሕይወት አድን፣ ስቃይን ለማስታገስ እና ለሰብዓዊነት ቆርጦ የቆመ ተቋም ነው። ይህንን ተልዕኮ በአለማዳላት እና ገለልተኝነት ማስቀጠል የማኅበሩ ቁርጠኛ አቋም ነው።

STATEMENT

The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) has taken note of a report broadcast by the Ethiopian Media Service (EMS) on its television program “Eletawi” on 17 August 2026, concerning the Society’s ambulances. The report stated that “in Addis Ababa … we have received information that Red Cross ambulances are transporting Eritrean, Tigrayan, and Amhara people … to a military training center.”

The Ethiopian Red Cross Society would like to clearly state that its ambulances are not used to transport people or engage in any activities that are contrary to the Society’s Fundamental Principles, including humanity, neutrality, impartiality, and other fundamental Red Cross principles. The ambulance services provided by the Society are based on humanitarian needs and are focused on saving lives and alleviating suffering, without discrimination based on ethnicity, language, political opinion, or any other distinction.

Accordingly, the Society confirms that it does not have any Ethiopian Red Cross Society ambulance engaged in the type of activity described in the aforementioned report. Therefore, we do not believe it is appropriate to confuse or misrepresent the humanitarian activities carried out by the Society based on the fundamental principles of humanity and neutrality with other purposes or activities.

On the other hand, one of the serious concerns currently facing the Society is the improper use of its emblem. This situation is becoming a challenge to the delivery of the Society’s humanitarian services. Some individuals or entities that are not authorized to use the Red Cross emblem have been observed carrying out activities outside the Society’s humanitarian mission and principles. This has led many people to associate such activities with the Society.

The Red Cross emblem is a distinctive symbol with a specific humanitarian meaning and legal protection. Therefore, its use without appropriate authorization, or its display in a manner that could create doubt about the name and mission of the Society, is unacceptable. The Society strongly calls upon any individual, institution, or other entity not to use the Red Cross’s emblem, name, or other identifying marks without proper authorization, and not to associate the Society with activities that do not represent it.

Furthermore, the Society does not tolerate any activity carried out using its name, emblem, vehicles, or other identifying marks that is contrary to its humanitarian mission and established principles. If any employee, driver, or other representative of the Society is found to be acting outside the Society’s operational principles or code of conduct, the Society confirms that the matter will be properly investigated and that the necessary measures will be taken in accordance with the Society’s internal procedures and applicable laws.

We call upon media organizations and other information disseminating entities to verify the accuracy of information with the Society before reporting on matters related to the Ethiopian Red Cross Society and to provide verified information to the public. In particular, we urge media outlets to exercise due care when reporting information related to the Society’s ambulances or emblem. The dissemination of misleading or unverified information may create unnecessary doubts about the Society’s humanitarian services and undermine public trust in the Society.

Furthermore, anyone who observes a vehicle using the Red Cross emblem or other identifying marks while engaging in activities that tarnish the name and mission of the Society is encouraged to report the matter to the Society, providing the vehicle’s plate number, location, date, and any other relevant information. The Society will properly investigate such cases and take appropriate legal and internal measures in accordance with its procedures.

የኢትዮጵያ ቀይ መስቀል ማኅበር ከኖርዌይ ቀይ መስቀል ጋር በመተባበር የጤና፣ የጥበቃ፣ የአደጋ ዝግጁነትና ምላሽ ፕሮጀክትን የግማሽ ዓመት የአፈጻጸም ግምገማ ከነሐሴ 9-11 2018 ዓ.ም በአዲስ አበባ አካሂዷል።

በፕሮጀክቱ የመጀመሪያ ግማሽ ዓመት ላይ የተገኘውን ዕድገት፣ ስኬት እንዲሁም ያጋጠሙ ተግዳሮቶች እና የአፈፃፀም ክፍተቶችን ለመገምገም አግባብነት ያላቸውን የማኅበሩ ሰራተኞች እና የፕሮጀክት ባለድርሻ አካላት በተገኙበት ነው ግምገማው የተካሄደው።

ግምገማው ተጠያቂነትን ለማጠናከር፣ መሻሻል ያለባቸውን አካባቢዎች ለመለየት እና በቀሪው የትግበራ ጊዜ ቅድሚያ የሚሰጣቸው ተግባራት ላይ ለመስማማት ያለመ ሲሆን የፕሮጀክት እንቅስቃሴዎች በጤና፣ በአደጋ ጊዜ የህክምና አገልግሎቶች፣ በጥበቃ፣ በአደጋ ዝግጁነትና ምላሽ የታቀዱትን ግቦች ለማሳካት በትክክለኛው መንገድ ላይ በሆናቸውን ለማረጋገጥ ያለመ እንደሆነ ነው የተገለጸው።

ፕሮጀክቱ በአማራ ክልል በማዕከላዊ ትግራይ እና በሰሜን ጎንደር እየተተገበረ ይገኛል።

ERCS Holds Mid-Year Review of Health, Protection, Preparedness and Response Project

The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS), in partnership with the Norwegian Red Cross, conducted a mid-year review of its Health, Protection, Preparedness and Response Project from August 15–17, 2026, in Addis Ababa.

The review brought together relevant ERCS staff and project stakeholders to assess progress, achievements, challenges, and implementation gaps during the first half of the project period.

The review aimed to strengthen accountability, identify areas for improvement, and agree on priority actions for the remaining implementation period, ensuring that project activities remain on track to achieve their intended objectives in health, emergency medical services, protection, preparedness, and response.

The project is being implemented in Central Tigray and North Gondar in the Amhara Region.

የኢትዮጵያ ቀይ መስቀል ማኅበር በበጀት ዓመቱ የሥራ አፈጻጸምና በመጪው በጀት ዓመት የስራ ዕቅዱ ዙሪያ ከከልልና ከዞን ቅርንጫፍ ጽ/ቤት ኃላፊዎች ጋር ሲያደርግ የቆነውን ዓመታዊ ግምገማ እና ውይይት በትላንትናው ዕለት በተሳካ ሁኔታ አጠናቋል፡፡

በመድረኩ ላይ የተገኙት የማኅበሩ የቦርድ አባልና የወጣት በጎ ፈቃደኞች ተወካይ ዶ/ር አዲስ ዓለም ሙላት ባስተላለፉት መልዕክት ፤ ዓለም አቀፍ የገንዘብ ድጋፍ ከጊዜ ወደጊዜ እየቀነሰ መምጣቱን አስታውሰው ማኅበሩ ይህን ተግዳሮት ዘላቂ በሆነ መልኩ መቋቋም እንዲችል የአገር ውስጥ ሃብት ማሰባሰብ ላይ በትኩረት መስራት እንዳለበት አሳስበዋል፡፡

ማኅበሩ ከሌሎች አፍሪካውያን እህት ብሔራዊ ማኅበራት ጋር ሲነጻጸር በብዙ መልኩ በተሻለ ደረጃ የሚገኝ ቢሆንም የሴቶችን ተሳትፎና ውሳኔ ሰጪነት ከማረጋገጥና አኳያ ግን ብዙ መሰራት እንዳለበት የገለጹት ዶ/ር አዲስዓለም ፤ የበጎ ፈቃደኞች ልማትን በተመለከተም ተከታይ በጎፈቃደኞችን ለማፍራት የሚያስችል ዕቅድ መዘጋጀት እንዳለበት አንጽኦት ሰጥተዋል፡፡

ዶ/ር አዲስዓለም በንግግራቸው በዲጂታላይዜሽን ፤ በተግባቦትና በቅድመ ማስጠንቀቂያ ስራዎች ላይ በትኩረት መሰራት እንዳለበት የጠቆሙ ሲሆን ሁሉም የማኅበሩ አመራርና ሰራተኛ የማኅበሩን መልካም ስም በመጠበቅ ረገድ የሚጠበቅበትን ኃላፊነት በአግባቡ እንዲወጣ መልዕክታቸውን አስተላልፈዋል፡፡

የማኀበሩ ዋና ጸሐፊ አቶ አበራ ሉሌሳ በማጠቃለያ ንግግራቸው ወቅት ባስቀመጡት አቅጣጫም ሁሉም የማኅበሩ አመራር በማኅበሩ ስትራቴጀክ ዕቅድ ላይ የተሟላ ግንዛቤ መያዝ ፤ ዕቅዱን ለሰራተኛው ማጋራትና የዕቅዱን አፈፃጸም በቅርበት መከታተል እንዳለበት ያሳሰቡ ሲሆን ፤ ግልጸኝነትንና ተጠያቂነትን ማስፈል ይቻል ዘንድም አሰራሮችን ማዘመን አስፈላጊ መሆኑንም ገልጸዋል፡፡

ሃብት የማሰባሰብ ስራው እንዳለሆኖ የተሰበሰበውን ሐብት በአግባቡና ወጪ ቆጣቢ በሆነ መልኩ በስራ ላይ ማዋል አስፈላጊ መሆኑን ያነሱት ዋና ጸሐፊው ፤አመራሩ ፕሮጀክቶች በሚፈለገው የጥራት ደረጃና በተያዘላቸው ጊዜ እንዲጠናቀቁ በቅርበት እንዲከታተልና ችግሮች ሲያጋጥሙም አፋጣኝ መፍትሔ እንዲሰጥ አጽንኦት ሰጥተዋል፡፡

ይህ የስትራቴጂክ ዕቅዱ የመጀመሪያው በጀት ዓመት አፈጻጸም በአመዛኙ ውጤታማና ጉልህ አዎንታዊ ለውጦች የታዩበት እንደነበርም ነው የተገለጸው፡፡

“We Need to Work Hard to Increase Women’s Participation and Decision-Making in ERCS” – Dr. Addisalem Mulat

The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) has concluded its annual review and discussion forum with heads of regional and zonal branches, focusing on the Society’s performance during the fiscal year and its Annual Operation Plan for the upcoming fiscal year.

During the final session, the Society’s annual performance and audit reports were presented and discussed. Relevant officials and the senior management responded to questions and provided clarifications on the issues raised by participants.

Speaking at the forum, Dr. Addisalem Mulat, ERCS Board Member and representative of youth volunteers, noted the continued decline in global financial support and called on the Society to strengthen domestic resource mobilization to ensure sustainable humanitarian operations.

Dr. Addisalem also emphasized the need to increase women’s participation and representation in decision-making, as well as to develop a clear volunteer succession plan. She further called for greater attention to digitalization, communication, and early warning systems, urging ERCS leaders and staff to uphold the Society’s reputation by effectively fulfilling their responsibilities.

In his closing remarks, Ato Abera Lulessa, Secretary General of ERCS, urged leadership at all levels to develop a strong understanding of the Society’s Strategic Plan, ensure that employees are familiar with it, and closely monitor its implementation. He also stressed the importance of updating procedures to strengthen transparency and accountability.

The Secretary General further emphasized the need to use mobilized resources efficiently and cost-effectively. He called on management to closely monitor projects to ensure they are completed on time and meet required standards, and to take prompt corrective action when challenges arise.

The forum also noted that the first year of implementing the Society’s five-year Strategic Plan has been largely successful, with significant positive changes recorded.

በኢትዮጵያ ቀይ መስቀል ማኅበር አማራ ክልል ቅርንጫፍ በስሩ በሚገኙ የማኅበሩ የዞን ቅርንጫፍ ጽ/ቤቶችና ማስተባበሪያዎች ወጣቶችና በጎ ፈቃደኞችን በማስተባበር “ተስፋን እንትከል! “ በሚል መሪ ቃል ላልፉት ሁለት ሳምንታት ከ18ሺህ በላይ ችግኞች ተተክለዋል፡፡

በማኅበሩ የአማራ ክልል ቅርንጫፍ ጽ/ቤት ኃላፊ አቶ ሻምበል ዋለ የችግኝ ተከላ መርሃ ግብሩ ሁሉም የዞን ቅርንጫፎችና ማስተባበሪያዎች በየዓመቱ የሚያካሂዱት የሰብዓዊና የልማት ተግባር አንድ አካል መሆኑን አስታስዉ፤ ዘንድሮም በየአካባቢዉ ካሉ የወጣትና በጎ ፈቃደኛ አደረጃጀቶች ጋር በቅንጅት እየተሰራ መሆኑን ተናግረዋል።

ማኅበሩ ጠንካራ እና አይበገሬ ማኅበረሰብ ለመፍጠር ራሱን የቻለ ፕሮግራም ቀርፆ በመደበኛነት እየሰራ እንደሚገኝ ያስታወሱት አቶ ሻምበል በክልሉ የተለያዩ ዞኖች በርካታ የአካባቢ ጥበቃ ስራዎች በጀት ተመድቦላቸዉ እየተከናወኑ የሚገኝ መሆኑንም አስታዉሰዋል።

በመርሃ ግብሩም ሰራተኞችና በጎ ፈቃደኞች የአካባቢ ጥበቃን ለማጠናከር፣ የአረንጓዴ ሽፋንን ለማሳደግ እና የአየር ንብረት ለውጥን ለመቋቋም በንቃት ተሳትፈዋል።

በመርሃ ግብሩ የተለያዩ የአገር በቀልና ለአካባቢው ተስማሚ የሆኑ የዛፍ ችግኞች ተተክለዋል። ይህም ተግባር የአካባቢ ጥበቃን ከማጠናከር ባሻገር፣ የአየር ንብረት ለውጥን ለመቀነስ፣ የተፈጥሮ ሀብቶችን ለመጠበቅ እና ለቀጣይ ትውልድ አረንጓዴ አካባቢ ለማስተላለፍ ከሚደረጉ ሀገራዊ ጥረቶች አንዱ መሆኑ ተገልጿል።

ERCS Branches Plant Over 18,000 Tree Seedlings across Amhara Region

The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) has planted more than 18,000 tree seedlings across its branches and coordination offices in the Amhara region as part of its environmental conservation campaign under the theme "Plant Hope!"

Reporting on the overall two-week campaign, Ato Shambel Walle, Head of the ERCS Amhara Regional Branch, said the annual tree planting initiative complements the Society's humanitarian and development activities while contributing to environmental protection and climate resilience. He noted that the campaign is being implemented in close collaboration with youth and volunteer organizations across the region.

Ato Shambel emphasized that ERCS has established a dedicated environmental conservation program aimed at building resilient communities and continues to invest in forest development and ecosystem restoration across different zones.

Participants planted a variety of indigenous and locally adapted tree species to strengthen environmental protection, increase green cover, combat climate change, conserve natural resources, and help create a healthier environment for future generations.

ማኅበሩ ለከፍተኛ አመራሮችና ለክልል እና ለዞን ቅርንጫፍ ጽ/ቤት ኃላፊዎች የአመራርነት ስልጠና ሰጠ

የኢትዮጵያ ቀይ መስቀል ማኅበር ለማኅበሩ ለከፍተኛ አመራር አካላትና ለማኅበሩ የክልል እና የዞን ቅርንጫፍ ጽ/ቤት ኃላፊዎች የሁለት ቀናት የአመራርነት ስልጠና ነሀሴ 6 እና 7 2018 ዓ.ም በአዲስ አበባ ሰጥቷል።

ስልጠናው የማኅበሩን አመራር አካለት የአመራር አቅም ለማጠናከር፤ ማኅበሩን በብቃት ለመምራት፣ የድርጅታዊ ኃላፊነቶችን ለመወጣትና እና የተቋማዊ ለውጥን ለማምጣት አመራሩን አስፈላጊ ዕውቀት እና ክህሎት ለማስታጠቅ ያለመ እንደሆነ ነው የተገለጸው።

በማኅበሩ የቅርንጫፍ ጉዳዮችና ሎካላይዜሽን ዘርፍ ምክትል ዋና ጸሐፊ ፀሐፊ አቶ መሐመድ ጀማል ስልጠናውን በንግግር በከፈቱበት ወቅት እንደተናገሩት፤ የማኅበሩን ስትራቴጂካዊ ቅድሚያ የሚሰጣቸውን ጉዳዮች ለመደገፍ እና የሰብዓዊ አገልግሎት አቅርቦትን ለማሻሻል የአመራር አቅምን ማጠናከር አስፈላጊ መሆኑን አፅንዖት ሰጥተዋል።

የሰው ሐብት እና ፋሲሊቲ ማኔጅመንት መምሪያን በመወከል የእንኳን ደህና መጣችሁ ንግግር ያደረጉት አቶ ሳሙኤል አበበ የድርጅታዊ አፈጻጸምን በማጠናከር እና ውጤታማ የስራ አካባቢ በመፍጠር ቀጣይነት ያለው የአመራር ልማት አስፈላጊነትን አጉልተው ገልጸዋል።

ስልጠናው ራስን፣ ቡድኖችን እና ተቋምን መምራት፣ ስትራቴጂካዊ አስተሳሰብ እና አመራር፣ አመራር እና ድርጅታዊ ባህል፣ ሥነ ምግባራዊ አመራር እና የትራንስፎርሜሽን አመራርን ጨምሮ ቁልፍ የአመራር ርዕሶችን አካቷል።

በሁለተኛው የስልጠናው ቀን የሜድሮክ ኢንቨስትመንት ግሩፕ የቀድሞ ዋና ሥራ አስፈፃሚ እና የአሁኑ የዩኒቲ ዩኒቨርሲቲ ፕሬዝዳንት ዶ/ር አረጋ ይርዳው በክብር እንግድነት በመገኘት ስለ ትራንስፎርሜሽን አመራር እና የድርጅታዊ ለውጥን በማምጣት ረገድ መሪዎች ስላላቸው ሚና ግንዛቤዎችን አካፍለዋል።

ERCS Holds Leadership Training for Senior Management and Regional Heads

The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) conducted a two-day leadership training for Senior Executive Management, Regional Heads, and Zonal Heads from August 12–13, 2026, in Addis Ababa.
The training aimed to strengthen the leadership capacity of ERCS leaders and equip them with essential knowledge and skills to effectively lead teams, manage organizational responsibilities, and drive institutional transformation.

Opening the training, Ato Mohammed Jemal, Deputy Secretary General for Branch Affairs and Localization, emphasized the importance of strengthening leadership capacity to support the Society's strategic priorities and improve humanitarian service delivery.

In his welcoming remarks, Ato Samuel Abebe, Head of the Human Capital and Facility Management Department, highlighted the importance of continuous leadership development in strengthening organizational performance and creating an effective working environment.

The training covered key leadership topics, including Leading Self, Leading Teams, Leading Organizations, Strategic Thinking and Leadership, Leadership and Organizational Culture, Ethical Leadership, and Transformational Leadership.

On the second day, Dr. Arega Yirdaw, former CEO of MIDROC Investment Group and current President of Unity University, participated as a guest speaker and shared insights on transformational leadership and the role of leaders in driving organizational change.

The training concluded with the presentation of certificates of recognition to participants.

ማኅበሩ ሐብት ማሰባሰብ በሚቻልባቸው መንገዶች ዙሪያ ምክክር አካሔደ

የኢትዮጵያ ቀይ መስቀል ማኅበር ከ12 የክልል ቅርንጫፍ ጽ/ቤቶች ለተውጣጡ- በጎ ፍቃደኞች እና ሰራተኞች ሀብት ማሰበሰብ በሚቻልባቸው መንገዶች ዙሪያ የምክክር መድረክ ነሀሴ 05/2018 ዓ.ም በአዲስ አበባ አከናውኗል፡፡

ማኅበሩ በተለያዩ ሰው ሰራሽ እና የተፈጥሮ አደጋዎች ምክንያት ድጋፍ የሚሹ ወገኖችን ለመደገፍ ተጨማሪ ሀብት ማሰባሰብ አስፈላጊ በመሆኑ ከኢትዮ ቴሌኮም ጋር በመተባባር አጭር የድጋፍ ማሰባሰቢያ መለያ ቁጥር “9400” ማዘጋጀቱ የሚታወስ ሲሆን ዜጎች ወደዚህ አጭር መለያ ቁጥር “OK” ብለው በመላክ በቀን አንድ ብር ድጋፍ በማድረግ ላይ ይገኛሉ፡፡

ከዚህ በተጨማሪ ማኅበሩ በኢትዮጵያ ንግድ ባንክ በከፈተው የድጋፍ ማሰባሰቢያ የሂሳብ ቁጥር 1000000902008- ኪው አር ኮድ የተዘጋጀ ሲሆን ከሁሉም ባንኮች ክፍያንና ልገሳን የሚቀበል እንደሆነ ነው የተገለጸው፡፡

ይህንን ዲጅታል የክፍያ አማራጭ ስካን (Scan) በማድረግ መለገስ የሚቻል ሲሆን ማኅበረሰቡ ለዚህ በጎ ዓላማ በሁለቱም አማራጮች እንዲሳተፍ ለማድረግ ለአንድ ወር (ከነሐሴ 9/2018 ዓ.ም እስከ መስከረም 05/2019 ዓ.ም) የሚቆይ ዘመቻ ይከናወናል፡፡

ይህንን ዘመቻ በጎ ፈቃደኞችና ሰራተኞች በየአካባቢያቸው "ክረምቱን ለሰብዓዊ አገልግሎት" በሚል መሪ ቃል የሀብት ማሰባሰብ ስራውን የሚያስተባብሩ ሲሆን ማኅበረሰቡም ይህንን በጎ ዓላማ በመደገፍ የተለመደውን ድጋፍ እንዲያደርግ ማኅበሩ ጥሪውን አቅርቧል፡፡

ERCS Holds Resource Mobilization Workshop for Staff and Volunteers

The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) held a consultation workshop on resource mobilization for staff and volunteers from 12 regional branches in Addis Ababa on August 11, 2026.
The workshop focused on strengthening resource mobilization efforts to enable the Society to provide timely humanitarian assistance to people affected by natural and human-induced disasters.

As part of its resource mobilization efforts, ERCS has introduced a short fundraising code, 9400, in collaboration with Ethio Telecom. Members of the public can contribute one birr per day by sending “OK” to 9400.

The Society has also established a digital fundraising account through the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE), account number 1000000902008. Donations can be made through the QR code, with payments accepted from different banks.

A month-long fundraising campaign will be conducted from August 15 to September 15, 2026, under the theme “Winter for Humanity.” ERCS staff and volunteers will mobilize communities and encourage public participation throughout the campaign.

The Ethiopian Red Cross Society calls on the public to support the campaign and contribute to saving lives and assisting people in need.

በኢትዮጵያ ቀይ መስቀል ማኅበር የትግራይ ክልል ቅርንጫፍ ጽ/ቤት ከኔዘርላንድ ቀይ መስቀል ጋር በመተባበር በትምበያዊ ቅድመ እርምጃ(Anticipatory Action)፣ ፣ በቅድመ ማስጠንቀቅያ (Early Warning Systems) እና ቅድመ እርምጃ (Early Action) ላይ ያተኮረ ስልጠና ለቅርንጫፍ ጽ/ቤቱ ሰራተኞችና በጎ ፈቃደኞች፣ ለአጋር አካላትና ቅድመ ማስጠንቀቅያና ቅድመ እርምጃ ኮሚቴ ከነሐሴ 2-3/2018 ዓ.ም በውቕሮ ከተማ የአቅም ግንባታ ስልጠና ሰጥቷል።

በቅርንጫፍ ጽ/ቤቱ የፕሮግራም ዲቪዥን ሃላፊ የሆኑት አቶ ሃብተኪሮስ ጌታቸው በመክፈቻ ንግግራቸው እንደገለጹት፣ የአደጋ ስጋት ትንበያዊ ቅድመ ዝግጅት በተለያዩ ፕሮጀክቶች እየተተገበረ ያለ መሆኑን አስታውሰው፣ አደጋዎች ከመከሰታቸው በፊት የቅድመ ማስጠንቀቂያ ስርዓቶችን በመከተልና የቅድመ ጥንቃቄ እርምጃዎች በመውሰድ አደጋዎች ጉዳት እንዳያደርሱ የመከላከል ወይም የመቀነስ ስራዎችን ለመስራት የሚያስችሉ የግንዛቤ ማስጨበጫ ስልጠናዎች ጠቃሚ ስለሆኑ ግንዛቤ በመውሰድ በየአከባቢው ተግባራዊ እንቅስቃሴ ማድረግ ይገባል ብለዋል።

በቅርንጫፍ ጽ/ቤቱ የፕሮጀክቱ አስተባባሪ አቶ ሊኢከ አረጋዊ በበኩላቸው፣ የትንበያዊ ቅድመ እርምጃ ፣ የቅድመ ማስጠንቀቅያ ስርዓቶች እና የቅድመ እርምጃ ጽንሰ-ሃሳቦችን በማወቅና ተግባራዊ በማድረግ ሊፈጠሩ የሚችሉ አደጋዎች ከመከላከልና መቀነስ ብሎም የማኅበረሰብን የመቋቋም አቅም ለመገንባት ያለመ ስልጠና እንደሆነና በቅርንጫፍ ጽ/ቤቱና በእንደርታ ወረዳ ዓዲ አዝመራ ቀበሌ የሚተገበር መሆኑን ነው የገለፁት።

በቅርብ የተካሄዱ የዳሰሳ ጥናቶች እንደሚያመላክቱት፤ የዓዲ አዝመራ ቀበሌ በእንደርታ ወረዳ ከሚገኙ በድርቅ የሚጠቁ ቀበሌዎች በሁለተኛ ደረጃ የምትቀመጥ ስትሆን የሚመለከታቸው አካላትና ማኅበረሰቡ ይህን ችግር በመገንዘብ የትንበያዊ ቅድመ እርምጃ፣ የቅድመ ማስጠንቀቂያ ስርአቶች እና የቅድመ እርምጃ ስራዎችን በማጠናከር ድርቁ ሊያስከትላቸው ከሚችሉ ጉዳቶች መከላከልና መቀነስ ላይ በትኩረት መስራት እንደሚያስፈልግ የስልጠናው ተሳታፊዎች ተናግሯል።
ስልጠናውም ከዚህ አኳያ ትልቅ ግብኣት እንደሆናቸው ገልጸዋል።

በስልጠና የቅርንጫፍ ጽ/ቤቱ ሰራተኞችና በጎ ፈቃደኞች፣ የክልልና ወረዳ የአደጋ ስጋት አመራር ባለሙያዎች፣ ከዓዲ ኣዝመራ ቀበሌ የተለያዩ ሴክተር መስርያ ቤቶች እና የቅድመ ማስጠንቀቂያና ቅድመ እርምጃ ኮሚቴዎች ተሳታፊ ሆነዋል።

Regional Branch Office Conducts Training on Anticipatory Action, Early Warning, and Early Action

The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS), Tigray Regional Branch, in collaboration with the Netherlands Red Cross (NLRC), conducted a two-day capacity-building training on Anticipatory Action (AA), Early Warning Systems (EWS), and Early Action (EA) for branch staff and volunteers, community EW/EA Committee members, and stakeholders from August 8-9, 2026, in Wukro town.

Opening the training, Ato Habtekiros Getachew, Head of the Program Division of the ERCS, Tigray Regional Branch, emphasized the importance of forecast-based preparedness in preventing and reducing disaster impacts.

He noted that ERCS is implementing forecast-based disaster risk preparedness through various projects and stressed that strengthening awareness and skills on early warning is essential to enable communities to take timely preventive and mitigation measures before disasters occur. He urged participants to apply the knowledge and skills gained in their respective communities.

Ato Lieke Aregawi, Project Coordinator at the Tigray Regional Branch, highlighted that the training aims to strengthen understanding and practical capacity in Anticipatory Action, Early Warning Systems, and Early Action to reduce disaster impacts and contribute to building disaster-resilient communities in Adi-Azmera Kebele, Enderta Woreda.

Recent assessments identified drought as a major hazard affecting Adi-Azmera Kebele, which ranks second among drought-prone kebeles in Enderta Woreda. Participants therefore underscored the need for coordinated action among communities, government institutions, ERCS, and other partners to anticipate risks, act early, and protect lives and livelihoods.

The training reinforced a shared commitment to shift from responding after disasters occur to acting before they happen, strengthening community preparedness and resilience through timely early warning and early action.

The training brought together ERCS branch staff and volunteers, regional and woreda Disaster Risk Management (DRM) experts, sector-office representatives, and community Early Warning/Early Action Committee members from Enderta Woreda and Adi-Azmera Kebele.

በማኅበሩ የዕቅድ ፣ክትትል፣ ግምገማና ሪፖርት የስራ ክፍል ዳይሬክተር የሆኑት ወ/ሮ ቃል ኪዳን አድማሱ፤ የብሔራዊ ማኅበሩን ዓመታዊ የዕቅድ አፈጻጸም ባቀረቡበት ወቅት እንደገለጹት፤ በበጀት ዓመቱ ከ7.3 ቢሊየን ብር በላይ ገቢ መሰብሰቡንና ከዚህ ውስጥ ከ5.4 ቢሊዮን ብር በላይ ወጪ በማድረግ ወደ 5 ሚሊዮን የሚጠጉ ዜጎችን ተጠቃሚ ማድረግ መቻሉን ገልጸዋል፡፡

ወ/ሮ ቃልኪዳን አክለውም በበጀት ዓመቱ የማኅበሩን አባላት ቁጥር 7,516,108 የበጎ ፈቃደኞችን ቁጥር ደግሞ 48,119 ማድረስ መቻሉን ጠቁመዋል፡፡

የማኅበሩ ዋና ጸሐፊ አቶ አበራ ሉሌሳ በበኩላቸው ባደረጉት የማጠቃለያ ንግግር የአምስት ዓመቱ ስትራቴጂክ እቅድ የመጀመሪያው ዓመት አፈጻጸም በአመዛኙ ውጤታማ መሆኑን ገልጸው፤በቀጣይ የአገርና የብሔራዊ ማኅበሩን የወደፊት ዕጣ ፈንታ የሚወስኑ ወጣቶች ላይ በሚገባ መሰራት እንዳለበት አጽንኦት ሰጥተዋል፡፡

አባላትና በጎ ፈቃደኞች የማኅበሩ ምሰሶ ናቸው ያሉት ዋና ጸሐፊው፤አብዛኛው ዜጋ ወጣት በሆነባት አገራችን ወጣት ተኮር ያልሆነና ወጣቶችን በሚገባው መልኩ ያላሳተፈ የበጎ ፈቃደኝነት ተግባር የሚፈለገውን ውጤት ሊያመጣ አይችልም ብለዋል፡፡

ሙያዊ በጎ ፈቃደኞችን ከማፍራት አንጻርም ሥራዎች ተጠናክረው መሰራት እንዳለባቸው ያሳሰቡት ዋና ጸሐፊው፤የትምህርት ቤት የቀይ መስቀል ክበቦች በወጣቶች ዘንድ የአመለካከት ለውጥ የምናመጣባቸውና ዘርፈ ብዙ ዉጤት የሚያመጡ መድረኮች በመሆናቸው፤ክበቦቹን የማቋቋም፣ ግንዛቤ የመፍጠርና በየጊዜው የመደገፍ ስራዎች መጠናከር እንዳለባቸው መልዕክታቸውን አስተላልፈዋል፡፡

በዕለቱ የ2019 በጀት ዓመት የስራ ዕቅድ ቀርቦ ውይይት ተደርጎበታል፡፡

“Volunteering Without Proper Youth Engagement Cannot Produce the Desired Results” – ERCS Secretary General

The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) reviewed the performance of its regional branches during the 2018 E.C. fiscal year on the second day of its annual review and held discussions on the plan for the coming year.

W/o Kalkidan Admasu, Director of the Society’s Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting Department, reported that during the fiscal year, the National Society mobilized more than 7.3 billion birr and utilized over 5.4 billion birr, reaching nearly 5 million people through its humanitarian and other services.

She added that the Society's membership reached 7,516,108, while the number of volunteers reached 48,119 during the fiscal year.

In his closing remarks, Ato Abera Lulessa, Secretary General of ERCS, said the first year of the Society's five-year strategic plan had largely been successful. He emphasized the need to give greater attention to youth, who will play a central role in shaping the future of the country and the National Society.

The Secretary General noted that members and volunteers are the pillars of the Society and stressed that, given Ethiopia's predominantly young population, volunteerism without meaningful youth engagement cannot achieve the desired results.

He also called for greater efforts to develop professional volunteers and strengthen school Red Cross clubs as important platforms for engaging young people, promoting positive attitudes, and creating long-term humanitarian impact. He urged the Society to strengthen the establishment, awareness creation, and regular support of these clubs.

The 2019 E.C. budget and work plan was also presented and discussed during the review.
