ቅርንጫፍ ጽ/ቤቱ የአደጋዎች ቅድመ ማስጠንቀቂያ ግንዛቤ መፍጠሪያ ዘመቻ አካሄደ

በኢትዮጵያ ቀይ መስቀል ማኅበር የሶማሌ ክልል ቅርንጫፍ ጽ/ቤት ከኔዘርላንድ ቀይ መስቀል ጋር በመተባበር በ‘የውሃ አቅርቦት ለአየር ንብረት ለውጥ እርምጃ ማዕከል ፕሮግራም (Water at the Heart of Climate Action Program, Ethiopia)- የድርቅ መከላከል እርምጃና የቅድመ ማስጠንቀቂያ ፕሮቶኮል (EAP) ትግበራ አማካይነት በክልሉ ለሀርሺን ወረዳና ለቀበሌ የቅድመ ማስጠንቀቂያ ኮሚቴ አባላትና ለሃርሺን ወረዳ የማኅበሩ በጎ ፈቃደኞች የግንዛቤ መፍጠሪያ መርሃ-ግብር አካሂዷል።

የግንዛቤ ማስጨበጫ መርሃ-ግብሩ የማኅበረሰቡን ዝግጁነት ለማጠናከር እና በድርቅ ቅድመ ማስጠንቀቂያ ዘዴዎችንና የቅድመ እርምጃ ተግባራትን ላይ ያለውን ግንዛቤ ለማሳደግ ያለመ እንደሆነ የተገለፀ ሲሆን ተሳታፊዎች የቅድመ ማስጠንቀቂያ መረጃን በወቅቱ ለማሰራጨት እና ከድርቅ ጋር ለተያያዙ አደጋዎች በቅድመ ጥንቃቄ የተሞሉ ምላሾች እንዲሰጡ የሚያስችላቸውን ዕውቀት እና ስነ- ዘዴዎችን ከስልጠናው ማግኘታቸው ነው የተገለጸው።

ከስልጠናው በኋላም የአደጋዎች ቅድመ ማስጠንቀቂያ መልዕክቶች በተሽከርካሪዎችና ቤት ለቤት በመሄድ ለማኅበረሰቡ እንዲደርሱ ተደርገዋል፡፡ይህም ተጋላጭ ቤተሰቦች ለድርቅ ተጽዕኖዎች ቀድመው መዘጋጀት እንዲችሉ ወሳኝ መረጃ እና መመሪያ እንዲያገኙ አድርጓቸዋል።

ተነሳሽነቱ የኢትዮጵያ ቀይ መስቀል ማኅበር የማኅበረሰብን የመቋቋም አቅም ለማጠናከር፣ ከአየር ንብረት ለውጥ ጋር የተያያዙ አደጋዎችን ተጽእኖ ለመቀነስና ተጋላጭ የህብረተሰብ ክፍሎችን በቅድመ ማስጠንቀቂያ እርምጃ( Anticipatory Action) እና በቅድመ ምላሽ ዘዴዎች ለመደገፍ የሚያደርገው ቀጣይ ጥረት አካል ነው።

The Branch Office Conducts an Early Warning Awareness Campaign

Under the Water at the Heart of Climate Action (WHCA) Program – Ethiopia Drought Activation and Early Action Protocol (EAP), the Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) Somali Regional Branch, in partnership with the Netherlands Red Cross, conducted an orientation session for Woreda and Kebele Early Warning Committee members, and Ethiopian Red Cross Society volunteers in Harshin Woreda.

The orientation aimed to strengthen community preparedness and enhance understanding of drought early warning mechanisms and early action measures. Participants were equipped with knowledge and tools to support the timely dissemination of early warning information and promote proactive responses to drought-related risks.

Following the training, early warning messages were shared with communities through mobile awareness campaigns using vehicles and house-to-house visits, ensuring that vulnerable households receive critical information and guidance to prepare for potential drought impacts.

The initiative forms part of ERCS’s ongoing efforts to strengthen community resilience, reduce the impact of climate-related hazards, and support vulnerable populations through anticipatory action and early response mechanisms.

የኢትዮጵያ ቀይ መስቀል ማኅበር ከኔዘርላንድ ቀይ መስቀል ጋር በመተባበር ከአውሮፓ ህብረት የሰብዓዊ ዕርዳታ እና ሲቪል ጥበቃ (ECHO) በተገኘ የገንዘብ ድጋፍ በቅድመ አደጋ ፕሮቶኮል ላይ ከግንቦት 10 እስከ 12 ቀን 2018ዓ.ም የዘለቀ የተግባር ልምምድ በአፋር ክልል ሰመራ ከተማ ማካሄዱ ይታወሳል።

ቅርንጫፍ ፅ/ቤቱ ለተጋላጭ የህብረተሰብ ክፍሎች የምግብ ነክ ድጋፍ አደረገ

የኢትዮጵያ ቀይ መስቀል ማኅበር የአማራ ክልል ቅርንጫፍ ጽ/ቤት የባህር ዳር እና በሰሜን ጎጃም ማስተባባሪያ ጽ/ቤት በዞኑ ውስጥ ባሉ አስር ወረዳዎች ለሚገኙ 50 ተጋላጭ የህብረተሰብ ክፍሎች ሰኔ 7/2018 ዓ.ም የምግብ ነክ ድጋፍ አድርጓል፡፡

ድጋፉ የማኅበራዊና ስነ-ልቦናዊ እና ኢኮኖሚያዊ ተግዳሮቶች ለገጠማቸው ወገኖች ታስቦ የተከናወነ ሲሆን ማኅበሩ ጾታዊ ጥቃት ለደረባቸው ፣አካል ጉዳኞችን እና ልዩ ድጋፍ የሚሹ የህብረተሰብ ክፍሎችን ያካታል፡፡

በአጠቃላይ የምግብ ነክ ድጋፍ ለ50 ተጋላጭ ቤተሰቦችን ተጠቃሚ ያደረገ ሲሆን በጠቅላላዉ 192,000.00 ብር ወጪ የተደረገበት ድጋፉ በአማካይ ለእያንዳንዱ ቤተሰብ 3,840.00 ብር ዋጋ ያለው የምግብ ነክ ድጋፍ መደረጉ የተገለፀው።

የኢትዮጵያ ቀይ መስቀል ማኅበር የባህር ዳርና ሰሜን ጎጃም ማስተባበሪያ ጽ/ቤት ኃላፊ አቶ ሸጋው ከፋለ ማኅበሩ በተፈጥሮና ሰው ሰራሽ አደጋዎች ወቅት ቀድሞ ደራሽ መሆኑንና ልዩ ፍላጎት የሚሹ የኅበረተሰብ ክፍሎች እንደሚያስታዉስ ያስረዱ ሲሆን ድጋፉም የጋራ ጥንካሬያችን ማሳያ መሆኑንና በአንድነት ስንቆም ለተጋላጭ ወገኖቻችን ተስፋንና ክብርን መመለስ እንደምንችል ያሳያል በማለት መልእክታቸውን አስተላልፈዋል።

Branch office supports Vulnerable Households with Food Assistance

The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) Amhara Regional Branch, through its Bahir Dar and North Gojjam Coordination Office, has provided essential food assistance to 50 vulnerable households across ten woredas in North Gojjam Zone.

The support targeted individuals facing significant protection and socioeconomic challenges, including survivors of gender-based violence, adolescent mothers, vulnerable street-connected children, and persons with disabilities.

Implemented with a total budget of 192,000 ETB, the initiative provided critical relief to households most in need, helping them meet their immediate food needs and strengthening their resilience during difficult times.

Speaking at the distribution event, Shegaw Kefale, Coordinator of the Bahir Dar and North Gojjam Coordination Office, highlighted the Ethiopian Red Cross Society’s humanitarian mission and its commitment to supporting vulnerable communities affected by both natural and human-made hazards.

He called on community members to continue supporting the Society’s humanitarian work, emphasizing that the assistance provided reflects the power of collective action in restoring hope, dignity, and resilience to those facing hardship.

በደቡብ ወሎ፣ በምስራቅ ጉጂ እና በምስራቅ ቦረና ለሚገኘው የገጠሩ ማኅበረሰብ ንፁህ የመጠጥ ውሃ፣ አስፈላጊ መድሃኒቶች እና የተሻሻለ የንፅህና አጠባበቅ አገልግሎቶች ተደራሽ መሆናቸው የበርካቶችን ህይወትን እየለወጠ ነው።

በኢትዮጵያ ቀይ መስቀል ማኅበር በ”ኢትዮጵያ ከቀውስ ወደ አይበገሬነት” (EC2R) ፕሮጀክት አማካኝነት፣ በአንድ ወቅት ደህንነታቸው ባልተጠበቀ የውሃ ምንጮች ጥገኛ የነበሩ ቤተሰቦች አሁን ንጹህ የመጠጥ ውሃ ማግኘት ችለዋል፣ የጤና ማዕከላትም ታካሚዎችን ለማገልገል የተሻለ ብቃት ገንብተዋል፣ እንዲሁም ትምህርት ቤቶች በተሻሻሉ የወር አበባ ንፅህና ተቋማት አማካኝነት ለሴቶች ልጆች ደህንነቱ የተጠበቀ አካባቢ እየፈጠሩ ነው።

ከአገር አቀፍ እና ዓለም አቀፍ ባለድርሻ አካላት ጋር በመተባበር የተተገበረው ፕሮጀክቱ በመላው ኢትዮጵያ ጠንካራ፣ ጤናማ እና የበለጠ ጠንካራ ማኅበረሰቦችን ለመገንባት እያገዘ ነው።

የኢትዮጵያ ቀይ መስቀል ማኅበር ከዴንማርክ ቀይ መስቀል ጋር በመተባበር እና ከኖቮ ኖርዲስክ ፋውንዴሽን ባገኘው የገንዘብ ድጋፍ፣ በአደጋ ጊዜና በሰብዓዊ ቀውሶች ወቅት ተላላፊ ካልሆኑ በሽታዎች ጋር ለሚኖሩ ሰዎች የሚሰጠውን እንክብካቤ ቀጣይነት ለማጠናከር ከ200 ሚሊዮን ብር በላይ የሚገመት የአራት ዓመት ፕሮጀክት ሁለተኛ ምዕራፍ አስጀምሯል።

ፕሮጀክቱ ተላላፊ ያልሆኑ በሽታዎችን የመከላከል፣ የምርመራ፣ የሪፈራል ስርዓት ፣ የሕክምና ክትትል ስራዎችንና የማኅበረሰብ ግንዛቤን ለማሻሻል ያለመ ሲሆን የጤና ባለሙያዎችን እና በጎ ፈቃደኞችን በቀውስ ወቅት ያልተቋረጠ እንክብካቤ መስጠት የሚያስችል አቅም በመገንባት ላይ ይገኛል።

በማኅበሩ የጤና፣ የውሃ እና ስነ-ንፅህና የሥራ ክፍል ዳይሬክተር የሆኑት አቶ ጋሻው ዳኜ ዐውደ ጥናቱን ሲከፍቱ ባደረጉት ንግግር በኢትዮጵያ እየጨመረ የመጣውን ተላላፊ ያልሆኑ በሽታዎች ጫና እና በቀውስ ወቅት የጤና አገልግሎቶች ሲስተጓጎሉ ታካሚዎች የሚያጋጥሟቸውን ከፍተኛ አደጋዎች በማንሳት ማኅበሩ ባሉት ቅርንጫፍ ጽ/ቤቶቹ፣ በጎ ፈቃደኞች እና የማኅበረሰብ መዋቅሮቹ አማካይነት በጤና ትምህርት፣ በልየታ፣ በሪፈራል ስርዓትና ፣ በክትትል አገልግሎቶች እና በማኅበረሰብ ንቅናቄ ቁልፍ ሚና እየተጫወተ እንደሚገኝ ገልጸዋል ፡፡

የፌዴራል የጤና ጥበቃ ሚኒስቴርን በመወከል በዐውደ ጥናቱ ላይ ንግግር ያደረጉት ዶ/ር ፋሲል ሽፈራው በበኩላቸው፤ በድንገተኛ አደጋዎች ወቅት ተላላፊ ካልሆኑ በሽታዎች ጋር ለሚኖሩ ሰዎች የጤና እንክብካቤ ቀጣይነትን ማረጋገጥ ለጠንካራ የጤና ስርዓት አስፈላጊ መሆኑን አፅንዖት ሰጥተው፤ ሚኒስቴሩ መስሪያ ቤቱ በባለድርሻ አካላት መካከል ዝግጁነትንና ቅንጅትን ለማሳደግና አቅምን ለመገንባት ያለውን ቁርጠኝነት አረጋግጠዋል።

የዴንማርክ ቀይ መስቀል የኢትዮጵያ ተወካይ ሚስተር ማትስ ኦስተርጋርድ፣ ድርጅቱ በሰብዓዊ ተቋማት ውስጥ የተላላፊ ያልሆኑ በሽታዎች እንክብካቤን ለማጠናከር ያለውን የረጅም ጊዜ ቁርጠኝነት አስታውሰው፤ በዴንማርክ ቀይ መስቀል፣ በኢትዮጵያ ቀይ መስቀል ማኅበር፣ ኖቮ ኖርዲስክ ፋውንዴሽን እንዲሁም በመንግስት እና በአካባቢው ማኅበረሰቦች መካከል ከአስር አመታት በላይ የዘለቀውን በአደጋዎች ጊዜ ሥር የሰደዱ በሽታዎች ላለባቸው ሰዎች የሚደረገውን እንክብካቤ ቀጣይነትን የማሻሻል ትብብር አፅንዖት ሰጥተዋል።

የዓለም አቀፉን የቀይ መስቀል እና የቀይ ጨረቃ ማኅበራት ፌዴሬሽን (IFRC) በመወከልም ወ/ሮ ሮቢ ማንጉዳ ተነሳሽነቱን አድንቀው በአደጋ ጊዜ ሥር የሰደዱ በሽታዎች ያለባቸው ሰዎች ችላ እንዳይባሉ ማረጋገጥ አስፈላጊ መሆኑን አፅንዖት ሰጥተዋል።

የፕሮጀክቱ ሁለተኛ ምዕራፍ እ.አ.አ. ከየካቲት 2026 እስከ ጥር 2030 በኦሮሚያ ክልል አርሲ ዞን በምትገኘው ሺርካ ከተማ፣ በአማራ ክልል ሰሜን ጎንደር ዞን በምትገኘው ደባርቅ ከተማ እና በትግራይ ክልል በሰሜን ምዕራብ ዞን በምትገኘው ሽሬ ከተማ ተግባራዊ የሚደረግ ነው፡፡

ERCS Launches 200 Million Birr Project to Implement Continuity of Cardio metabolic Disease Care in Crisis

The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS), in partnership with the Danish Red Cross and with funding from the Novo Nordisk Foundation, has launched the second phase of a four-year project worth over 200 million birr to strengthen continuity of care for people living with non-communicable diseases (NCDs) during emergencies and humanitarian crises.

The project aims to improve prevention, screening, referral, treatment follow-up, and community awareness while building the capacity of health workers and volunteers to ensure uninterrupted care during crises.

Speaking at the launch workshop in Addis Ababa, ERCS Health and WASH Director Ato Gashaw Dagne highlighted the growing burden of NCDs and the need for resilient community-based health services. He noted that ERCS, through its extensive network of branches, volunteers, and community structures, plays a key role in health promotion, screening, referral, follow-up services, and community mobilization.

Dr. Fasil Shiferaw, from the Federal Ministry of Health, emphasized that uninterrupted NCD care during emergencies is vital for a resilient health system and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening preparedness, capacity, and coordination.

Mr. Mads Østergaard, Country Manager of the Danish Red Cross in Ethiopia, highlighted over a decade of partnership among the Danish Red Cross, ERCS, the Novo Nordisk Foundation, government institutions, and communities to ensure continuity of care for people living with chronic illnesses during crises.

Representing the IFRC, Mrs. Robi Wambura stressed that people living with chronic diseases must not be left behind during emergencies, noting that disruptions in treatment can have life-threatening consequences.

Running from February 2026 to January 2030, the project will be implemented in Shirka town in Arsi Zone of Oromia, Debark town in North Gondar Zone of Amhara, and Shire town from North West zone of Tigray Region.

ባለፉት ሁለት ዓመታት የኢትዮጵያ ቀይ መስቀል ማኅበር ከዴንማርክ ቀይ መስቀል ጋር በመተባበር እና ከአውሮፓ ህብረት በተገኘ የገንዘብ ድጋፍ በቤኒሻንጉል ጉሙዝ ክልል ማኅበራዊ ትስስር እና አይበገሬነት እንዲጎለብት እየሰራ ይገኛል።

በአሶሳ ከተማ እና በባምባሲ ወረዳ እየተተገበረ የሚገኘው ፕሮጀክትም የአገር ውስጥ ተፈናቃዮችን እና ተቀባይ ማኅበረሰቦችን ይደግፋል፤ በወጣቶች ተሳትፎ፣ በማኅበራዊ ትስስር እና በአእምሮ ጤና እና በስነ-ልቦና ድጋፍ ላይም ልዩ ትኩረት ያደርጋል።

Building Stronger Communities Through Social Cohesion 🤝

For the past two years, the Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS), in partnership with the Danish Red Cross and with financial support from the European Union, has been fostering social cohesion and resilience in the Benishangul Gumuz Region.

Implemented in Assosa Town and Bambasi Woreda, the project supports internally displaced persons (IDPs) and host communities, with a special focus on youth engagement, social cohesion, and mental health and psychosocial support.

በማኅበሩ የሰሜን ሸዋ ዞን ቅርንጫፍ ጽ/ቤት በሰብዓዊ ተግባቦት ላይ ያተኮረ ስልጠና ሰጠ

የኢትዮጵያ ቀይ መስቀል ማኅበር የሰሜን ሸዋ ዞን ቅርንጫፍ ጽ/ቤት ከዓለም አቀፍ የቀይ መስቀል ኮሚቴ (ICRC) ጋር በመተባበር ለጽ/ቤቱ ሰራተኞችና በጎ ፈቃደኞች በፎቶግራፊ፣ በቪዲዮግራፊ፣ በፎቶ እና በቪዲዮ አርትዖት እንዲሁም በሰብዓዊ ተግባቦት ላይ ያተኮረ የሶስት ቀናት ስልጠና ከግንቦት 27-29 ቀን 2018 ዓ.ም በደብረ ብርሃን ከተማ ሰጥቷል ።

ስልጠናው ተሳታፊዎችን በፎቶግራፍ፣ በቪዲዮግራፊ፣ በይዘት አቀራረጽ እና በተግባቦት መርሆዎች ላይ ተግባራዊ ዕውቀት በማስታጠቅ በምስል ፣ በሰብዓዊ ታሪኮች አቀራረብና በሰብዓዊ ተግባቦት ላይ ያላቸውን ክህሎት ለማጠናከር ያለመ እንደሆነ ነው የተገለጸው።

ይህ ተነሳሽነት የቅርንጫፍ ጽ/ቤቱን ሰብዓዊ እንቅስቃሴዎችና ተፅዕኖ በብቃት የመሰነድ እና የማስተላለፍ አቅምን ለማሳደግ የተነደፈ ነው ተብሏል።

በስልጠናው መክፈቻ ላይ ንግግር ያደረጉት የቅርንጫፍ ጽ/ቤቱ ኃላፊ አቶ ዳምጠው እምሻው በሰብዓዊ ተግባራት ፣ በዕይታና በማኅበረሰብ ተሳትፎ ውስጥ የሰብዓዊ ተግባቦት ሚና ወሳኝ መሆኑን አፅንዖት ሰጥተዋል። ቅርንጫፍ ጽ/ቤቱ እያከናወናቸው ያሉ ሰብዓዊ ተግባራትን በተሻለ ሁኔታ ለማሳየትና የሚያገለግላቸውን ማኅበረሰቦች ድምጽ ለማጉላት የተግባቦት አቅሙን በማጠናከር ላይ ልዩ ትኩረት እየሰጠ መሆኑን ተናግረዋል።

ቅርንጫፍ ጽ/ቤቱ ጥራት ያለው የእይታ ይዘት ለማዘጋጀትና በመስክ ላይ የሚከናወኑ ሰብዓዊ እንቅስቃሴዎችን ሰንዶ ለማስቀመጥ የሚያስችል የካነን ማርክ IV የቪዲዮ ካሜራ መግዛቱም ከእነዚህ ጥረቶች መካከል አንዱ አካል እንደሆነ ነው የተገለጸው ።

አቶ ዳምጠው እምሻው ተሳታፊዎች ከስልጠናው ያገኙትን ዕውቀት እና ክህሎት በሰብዓዊ ስራዎቻቸው ላይ ተግባራዊ በማድረግ የማኅበሩ ሰብዓዊ ተግባራት ጎልተው እንዲታዩና ተፅእኖውን ለማጠናከር አስተዋጽኦ እንዲያደርጉ አበረታተዋል።

ስልጠናው ማኅበሩ የሰራተኞቹንና የበጎ ፈቃደኞቹን አቅም ለመገንባትና በደረጃው ሰብዓዊ ተግባቦትን ለማሻሻል ያለውን ቁርጠኝነት ያመላክታል።

ERCS North Shoa Zonal Branch Conducts Humanitarian Communication Training

The North Shoa Zonal Branch of the Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS), in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), has conducted a three-day training on photography, videography, photo and video editing, and humanitarian communication for staff and volunteers in Debre Birhan town from 4–6 June 2026.

The training aims to strengthen participants’ skills in visual storytelling and humanitarian communication by equipping them with practical knowledge in photography, videography, content production, and communication principles. The initiative is designed to enhance the branch’s capacity to effectively document and communicate its humanitarian activities and impact.

Speaking at the opening of the training, Ato Damtew Emishaw, Head of the North Shoa Zonal Branch, emphasized the critical role of communication in humanitarian work, visibility, and community engagement. He noted that the branch is placing special emphasis on strengthening its communication capacity to better showcase humanitarian action and amplify the voices of the communities it serves.

As part of these efforts, the branch has acquired a Canon Mark IV video camera to support the production of quality visual content and improve documentation of field activities.

Ato Damtew encouraged participants to apply the knowledge and skills gained from the training in their humanitarian operations and contribute to strengthening the visibility and impact of the Society’s work.

The training reflects ERCS’s continued commitment to building the capacity of its staff and volunteers and enhancing humanitarian communication at all levels.

ቅርንጫፍ ጽ/ቤቱ ማኅበረሰብ ተኮር የመጀመሪያ ደረጃ የህክምና አገልግሎት ስልጠና ሰጠ

በኢትዮጵያ ቀይ መስቀል ማኅበር የአዲስ አበባ ቅርንጫፍ ጽ/ቤት በከተማ አስተዳደሩ ጤና ቢሮ ስር ባሉት የአስራ አንዱም ክፍለ ከተማ ጤና ጣቢያዎች ለሚሰሩ የጤና ኤክስቴንሽን ባለሙያዎች ማኅበረሰብ ተኮር በመጀመሪያ ደረጃ የህክምና አገልግሎት አሰጣጥ ዙሪያ ሰፊ የግንዛቤ ማስጨበጫ ስልጠና ሰጥቷል፡፡

የስልጠናው ዋና ዓላማ በሁሉም ጤና ጣቢያዎች የሚሰሩ የጤና ኤክስቴንሽን ባለሙያዎች ከማኅበረሰቡ ጋር በቅርበት የሚሰሩ ከመሆናቸው አንፃር ድንገተኛ አደጋዎች ሲከሰቱ ተጎጂዎች የጤና ተቋማት እስኪደርሱ ድረስ አስፈላጊውን የመጀመሪያ ደረጃ የህክምና አገልግሎት በመስጠት ስቃያቸውን ማቃለል እንዲችሉ ግንዛቤ መፍጠር እንደሆነ ነው የተገለጸው፡፡

የስልጠናው ተሰታፊዎችም ከስልጠናው ያገኙትን ዕውቀትና ክህሎት በስራ ላይ በማዋል የበጎ ፈቃደኝነት ስራ እንደሚሰሩና የማኅበሩ አባል በመሆን ጭምር የማኅበሩን ሰብዓዊ ተግባራት እንደሚደግፉ ቃል ገብተዋል፡፡

የኢትዮጵያ ቀይ መስቀል ማኅበር በአዲስ አበባ በሚገኘው የሰብዓዊ አገልግሎት አቅም ግንባታ ማዕከሉ እንዲሁም በተለያዩ የክልል ቅርንጫፍ ጽ/ቤቶቹ የተረጋገጠ(Certified) የመጀመሪያ ዕርዳታ እና የአደጋ ጊዜ ምላሽ ስልጠና ይሰጣል።

ERCS Addis Ababa Branch Provides Community-Based First Aid Training

The Addis Ababa Branch Office of the Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) has conducted Community-Based First Aid training for health extension workers from health centers across the city’s eleven sub-cities under the Addis Ababa City Administration Health Bureau.

The training aimed to strengthen participants’ knowledge and skills in providing immediate care during emergencies, enabling them to offer essential first aid and support before patients reach health facilities. By enhancing the capacity of frontline health workers, the initiative contributes to reducing suffering and improving community resilience during emergencies.

Throughout the training, participants received practical and theoretical instruction on community-based first aid, equipping them with the skills needed to respond effectively to a range of health emergencies within their communities.

At the conclusion of the training, participants expressed their commitment to applying the knowledge and skills they acquired in their daily work and volunteer activities. They also pledged to support the humanitarian mission of the Ethiopian Red Cross Society by becoming active members and advocates of the organization.

The Ethiopian Red Cross Society continues to provide certified first aid and emergency response training through its Center of Capacity Development for Humanitarian Services (CCDHS) in Addis Ababa, as well as through its regional branch offices across the country. These efforts play a vital role in building safer, healthier, and more resilient communities.

በማኅበሩ የአማራ ክልል ቅርንጫፍ ጽ/ቤት የባህር ዳርና ሰሜን ጎጃም ዞን ቅርንጫፍ ጽ/ቤት ወጣት በጎ ፈቃደኛ የሆነችው ሎዛ እሸቱና በማኅበሩ የአዲስ አበባ ቅርንጫፍ ጽ/ቤት የደቡብ አዲስ አበባ ማስተባበሪያ ጽ/ቤት በጎ ፈቃደኛ የሆነችው የኤልሻዳይ ሠለሞን በቅርቡ በዴንማርክ በተካሄደው ዓለም አቀፍ የወጣቶች አመራር አካዳሚ ስልጠና ላይ ኢትዮጵያን ወክለው የተሳተፉ የማኅበሩ ወጣት በጎ ፈቃደኞች ናቸው።

ወጣት በጎ ፈቃደኞቹ ሎዛ እና የኤልሻዳይ ፤ አመራርን፣ የቡድን ስራን፣ ፈጠራን እና የማኅበረሰብ ተሳትፎን ለማጠናከር የተነደፉ ጠቃሚ ዕውቀት እና ተግባራዊ ክህሎቶችን ከስልጠናው አግኝተዋል። በአሁኑ ሰዓትም ወጣቶቹ እነዚህን ልምዶች የበጎ ፈቃደኝነትን ፅንሰ ሃሳብ ለማስፋፋት እና በየማኅበረሰባቸው ውስጥ ያሉ ማኅበራዊ ተግዳሮቶችን ለመፍታት እየተጠቀሙባቸው ነው።

ከስልጠናውም እንደ የአመራር ልማት (Leadership Development)፣የዕቅድ አነዳደፍና አፈጻጸም (Applying the Sprint Methodology) እና በግጭት አፈታት ውስጥ ክህሎቶችን መገንባት( Building Skills in Conflict Management) ያሉ የወደፊት ሰብዓዊ አገልግሎታቸውን የሚቀርጹ በርካታ ቁልፍ ትምህርቶችን ገብይተዋል።
ሎዛ እና የኤልሻዳይ ከስልጠናው ያገኙትን እውቀት ለሌሎች በጎ ፈቃደኞች ለማካፈልና በኢትዮጵያ ቀይ መስቀል ማኅበር ፕሮግራሞች ውስጥ ተግባራዊ ለማድረግ ቁርጠኛ መሆናቸውን ይናገራሉ።

በቀጣይም በኢትዮጵያ፣ በኬንያ እና በታንዛኒያ እንዲሁም በሌሎች ተሳታፊ የአፍሪካ ሀገራት መካከል ጠንካራ ትስስር (Regional Network) በመፍጠር ልምዶቻቸውን የሚያካፍሉበትና እርስ በርስ የሚደጋገፉበትን ዕድል ለማመቻቸት ዕቅድ መያዛቸውንም ሎዛና የኤልሻዳይ ይናገራሉ።

በተጨማሪም ከዴንማርክ ያገኙትን የስራ አካሄድ ዘዴ (Sprint Methodology) በመጠቀም፣ በጎ ፈቃደኞች ምን እንደሚያነሳሳቸው በመገንዘብ ለስራቸው ያላቸውን ቁርጠኝነት ማሳደግና ያሉባቸውን ተግዳሮቶች አንድ በአንድ መፍታት ቀጣይ ትኩረታቸው እንደሆነ ነው ወጣቶቹ የሚናገሩት።

በመጨረሻም ወጣቶቹ ይህንን ዕድል ያመቻቸላቸውን የዴንማርክ ቀይ መስቀልና የወጣቶች አመራር አካዳሚ አመስግነው፤ “በእኛ ላይ እምነት ጥሎ ሀገራችንን እንድወክል እንደ አምባሳደር ለላከን ለኢትዮጵያ ቀይ መስቀል ማኅበር ብሄራዊ ጽ/ቤትና ቅርንጫፍ ጽ/ቤቶቻችን ልባዊ ምስጋናችንን እናቀርባለን” ብለዋል፡፡

የሎዛ እና የየኤልሻዳይ ተሞክሮ ወጣት በጎ ፈቃደኞች ላይ መዋዕለ ነዋይን ማፍሰስና ወጣቶች መሪዎች፣ ፈጣሪዎችና የሰብዓዊ ተግባራት ደጋፊዎች እንዲሆኑ ማብቃት ያለውን አስፈላጊነት ያሳያል።

ERCS Youth Volunteers Who Bring Global Leadership Experience Home: Loza Eshetu and Ye Elshaday Solomon

Loza Eshetu from the Amhara Regional Branch and YeElshaday Solomon from the Addis Ababa Branch of the Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) are among the young volunteers who recently represented Ethiopia at the international Youth Leadership Academy training held in Denmark.

As dedicated youth volunteers, both participants gained valuable knowledge and practical skills designed to strengthen leadership, teamwork, innovation, and community engagement. They are now applying these experiences to enhance volunteerism and address social challenges within their respective communities.

Reflecting on the training, they highlighted several key lessons that will shape their future humanitarian work, such as Leadership Development, Applying the Sprint Methodology, and Building Skills in Conflict Management.

Following the training, Loza and Ye Elshaday are committed to sharing their knowledge with fellow volunteers and applying the lessons learned within ERCS programs.

They also hope to strengthen connections with youth volunteers from Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, and other participating African countries by establishing a regional network for collaboration, experience sharing, and mutual support.

By applying the Sprint methodology and other leadership skills, they aim to better understand volunteers' motivations, increase engagement, and help solve challenges facing their communities.

Loza and YeElshaday expressed their sincere appreciation to the Danish Red Cross, the Youth Leadership Academy, the Ethiopian Red Cross Society Headquarters, and their respective branch offices for providing them with the opportunity to participate in the training and represent Ethiopia on an international platform.

Their experience demonstrates the importance of investing in young volunteers and empowering them to become leaders, innovators, and champions of humanitarian action.
