Real change in communities begins with conversations people feel safe enough to have.
In Jigjiga, community leaders, women’s associations, religious leaders, and representatives from local government offices came together for a powerful training focused on promoting Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) and preventing Gender-Based Violence (GBV). But beyond the sessions and presentations, this gathering was about something deeper — challenging harmful norms, listening with empathy, and building communities where women and girls can live free from violence and fear.
Community volunteers are often the first trusted voices people turn to. When equipped with the right knowledge, communication skills, and survivor-centered approaches, they become catalysts for lasting change — helping break silence, address stigma, and create pathways to support and protection.
One message echoed throughout the training: change starts with us. By transforming our own attitudes and understanding, we can create safer, healthier, and more inclusive communities for everyone.
We are grateful to all participants, partners, and leaders who continue to champion dignity, equality, and hope within their communities.
