The Children in Street Situations (CiSS) Joint Review and Learning Workshop was held from 25 – 29 August 2025 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The workshop marked a significant step in addressing the challenges faced by street-connected children across East and Southern Africa. Hosted by SOS Children’s Villages in Tanzania, the event brought together representatives from Ethiopia, Rwanda, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, and Ghana to evaluate progress, share best practices, and chart a strategic path forward for CiSS projects being implemented by SOS Children's Villages in Ethiopia, Tanzania, and Rwanda.

Although the COVID-19 pandemic has faded from headlines, its long-term effects on young people remain a pressing global challenge. The uncertainty and social isolation had a devastating effect on their mental health, leading to a sharp rise in anxiety and depression.

At the same time, the disrupted job market left many young people entering adulthood facing fewer opportunities and greater instability.

Lizeth was 18 when the pandemic hit. Aldeas Infantiles SOS México offered her family mental health care and supported her in pursuing her career goals.

As part of !, she got access to mentorship, skills training, and seed funding - the stepping stones that helped her grow into the successful entrepreneur she is today. 🚀

The confidence she discovered now drives Lizeth to advocate for the needs of children and young people.💙
