Urgent Enviromental Action Needed.

Desertification and drought continue to threaten lives, livelihoods, and ecosystems across the globe, while billions of people still lack access to safe water at home.

Now more than ever, urgent climate action is needed to restore degraded land, strengthen resilience, and secure a sustainable future for present and future generations.

Together, we can protect our planet and build communities that thrive.

PIADO Strengthens Anticipatory Action Coordination in Dawa Zone.

As part of the Ethiopia Trigger-Based Anticipatory Action Pilot Project, PIADO, in partnership with Save the Children International and with support from the Save the Children Humanitarian Fund (HF), successfully facilitated the establishment and strengthening of the Dawa Zone Anticipatory Action Working Sub-Group in the Somali Region.
The Working Sub-Group, led by the Dawa Zone Disaster Risk Management (DRM) Office, brings together representatives from key sectoral government offices, Save the Children International, and PIADO to enhance multi-sectoral coordination and preparedness for forecasted shocks and emergencies.
During the meeting, members reviewed and discussed the detailed roles and responsibilities of the Sub-Group to ensure a shared understanding of its mandate and operational arrangements. Participants also agreed on priority actions and a clear way forward to strengthen early preparedness, improve coordination mechanisms, and support the timely implementation of anticipatory actions aimed at protecting vulnerable communities before disasters escalate.
PIADO remains committed to working closely with government institutions, humanitarian partners, and local communities to advance anticipatory action approaches that save lives, protect livelihoods, and build resilience among at-risk populations.

Strengthening Voter Awareness in Moyale City.

PIADO, in collaboration with the National Election Board of Ethiopia Moyale Branch, conducted voter awareness and community mobilization sessions for youth, women, volunteers, community leaders, influential individuals, and elders from 10 kebeles of Moyale City.
The sessions focused on voter eligibility, election-day procedures, voter responsibilities, and promoting peaceful, informed, and inclusive participation in the upcoming election. Voter education materials in Afan Oromo, including flyers and pictorial guides, were used to enhance understanding and accessibility.
A total of 95 participants, including 8 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), attended the sessions. Trained participants will now cascade key messages across their communities through household visits, group discussions, peer engagement, and community gatherings, contributing to the effort to reach 83,139 eligible voters in Moyale City.
Together, we continue promoting informed, inclusive, and peaceful democratic participation.
