SEW ALE is an initiative started by Timret Lehiwot Ethiopia, one of the leading Social Organizations in Ethiopia. The mission of the initiative is to improve the ever deteriorating Urban Sanitation in Addis Ababa and other cities of Ethiopia. The initiative is supported by social entrepreneurs and innovators who are determined to instill sustainable ways of waste management in the community. This

is planned to be achieved through the installation of public toilets in the busy centers of the cities . When conceived SEW ALE`s prime focus was building public toilets and creating awareness to give relief to the very high demand of public toilets in Addis Ababa, now it is our most agreed attitude Addis Ababa and other cities need networked efforts of different individuals with different background to solve the careless waste disposal way and the shortage of public toilets.

Today, the Sew Ale Program joins the world in marking World Toilet Day 2025 under the theme: “We’ll Always Need the Toilet.”

A clean toilet brings health, dignity, safety — and peace.
Through WASH efforts, the Sew Ale Program shows that strong sanitation builds stronger, more peaceful communities.

Today, we creatively celebrate the toilet as a symbol of protection, equality, and hope for every family.

Toilet for Peace.
