A STORY OF COURAGE, STRENGTH, AND DETERMINATION
Today, we would like to share the inspiring story of one of our remarkable students, Redate Bareba.
Redate achieved an impressive score of 428.16 in the 2026 Ethiopian Secondary School Leaving Certificate Examination (ESSLCE). However, behind this achievement is a story of extraordinary courage and strength.
On the very day she was supposed to sit for her ESSLCE examination, Redate faced one of the most painful moments of her life—she lost her beloved father.
While carrying the unimaginable pain and shock of losing her father, she also had the difficult responsibility of attending his funeral and saying her final goodbye.
It was a moment when many people would understandably feel unable to continue.
Yet, despite the deep sorrow, emotional pain, and enormous pressure she was experiencing, Redate found the strength to sit for her examination.
She took the exam with a heavy heart.
She continued despite her tears.
And she refused to allow one of the darkest moments of her life to completely take away her dream.
Today, her result of 428.16 stands as a powerful testimony to her courage, resilience, and determination.
Dear Redate, we are deeply sorry for the loss of your beloved father. No examination result can replace the person you loved, and no words can truly remove the pain of such a loss.
But we want you to know how incredibly proud we are of you.
Your strength during such a painful moment has inspired the entire School of St. Yared community.
