DISPLACEMENT ALERT!!!!

Communities, including women and children have been displaced to Mazuria and Lare Woreda following the recent clash in in Itang Special Woreda, Gambella, Ethiopia. According to the reports, the displaced are in dire need of basic nessities such as food, shelter and water as they left all their belongings behind.

Humanitarian actors in Gambella region including UNHCR Ethiopia, UNICEF Ethiopia, USAID's Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance and all the local actors are called upon to conduct a quick Needs Analysis.

Grassroots Empowerment and Development Initiative - GEDI, Lare Woreda Field Office is officially operational in Kuergeng Town, Lare Woreda.

It is a three room office with four tables and six chairs enclosed with ironsheet fence. It is located at 02 Kebele, Kuergeng Town, Lare Woreda.

Thanks to our donors, stakeholders and the community for the support and thanks to the team for the hard work they put in since the inception of GEDI.

Clean Water and Sanitation is among the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) we advocate for in Ethiopia. Today, our team provided clean drinking water 🚰 (50, 1 ltr drinking bottles) to referees, officials, fans and players during the opening match of Gambella Regional State Sports Competition between Gambella Town Administration and Lare Woreda in Gambella town.

We reached more than 300 pregnant and lactating women with Insecticide Treated Mosquito Nets and washing soaps following flash flood emergency last year in Lare Woreda and areas near the South Sudan border.

The flood destroyed crops, properties, houses (hut tukuls), killed Livestock and displaced approximately more than 11, 000 households. Our team on ground has been following up with locals and they (locals) are unable to rebuild themselves. They ask for more support from well wishers in order to build their houses, rear livestock and live a dignified life. Hear some the Beneficiaries speak.
