KASMA Charity Organization successfully held its Board Meeting at the KASMA office, bringing together board members and leadership to reflect on the organization’s progress and strengthen its direction for the years ahead.

During the meeting, key discussions and decisions included:
* Review of KASMA’s 2025 operational performance and the 2026 annual work plan
* Welcoming newly appointed Board Members to the KASMA family
* Appointment of the new Board Chairwoman and Deputy Chairperson
* Approval of KASMA’s Travel Policy, Safeguarding Policy, and Five-Year Revenue Generation Strategy
* Appointment of the Board Safeguarding Focal Person

The meeting also served as a moment of appreciation and transition. KASMA extended sincere gratitude to the former Deputy Board Chairman for his valuable service, commitment, and contribution to the organization’s mission.

All board members reaffirmed their commitment to supporting KASMA’s vision and strengthening survivor-led efforts to combat human trafficking, support survivors, and promote safe migration in Ethiopia.
We warmly welcome our new board members and look forward to working together toward a stronger and more impactful future.

በዚህ የካስማ (KASMA) የበጎ አድራጎት ድርጅት የቦርድ አባላትን እና አመራሮችን ያሳተፈ ስኬታማ የቦርድ ስብሰባ በዋናው ቢሮው አካሂዷል። በስብሰባው ላይ የድርጅቱን የጉዞ ሂደት በመገምገም በቀጣይ ዓመታት ይበልጥ ተጠናክሮ የሚቀጥልበት አቅጣጫ ላይ ውይይት ተደርጓል።

-አዲስ የቦርድ ሰብሳቢ እና ምክትል ሰብሳቢን መሠየም

-የካስማን የጉዞ ፖሊሲ፣ ደህንነት ጥበቃ (Safeguarding) ፖሊሲ እና የአምስት ዓመት የገቢ ማሰባሰቢያ ስትራቴጂ ማጽደቅ

-የቦርድ ደህንነት ጥበቃ (Safeguarding) ተጠሪን መሾም

በተጨማሪም ስብሰባው የምስጋና እና የሽግግር ወቅትም ነበር። ካስማ ለቀድሞው የቦርድ ምክትል ሰብሳቢ ላበረከቱት ላቅ ያለ አገልግሎት፣ ላሳዩት ቁርጠኝነት እና ለድርጅቱ ተልዕኮ ስኬት ላደረጉት አስተዋጽኦ ልባዊ ምስጋናውን አቅርቧል።
በመጨረሻም ሁሉም የቦርድ አባላት የካስማን ራዕይ ለማሳካት፣ በሕገ-ወጥ የሰዎች ዝውውር ላይ የሚደረገውን ትግል ለማጠናከር፣ ከስደት ተመላሽ ወገኖቻችንን ለመደገፍ እና በኢትዮጵያ አስተማማኝ የስደተኞች ጥበቃ እንዲኖር ለሚደረገው ጥረት ያላቸውን ዝግጁነት በድጋሚ አረጋግጠዋል።
አዳዲስ የቦርድ አባላቶቻችንን በደስታ እየተቀበልን፣ ለተሻለ እና ተጽዕኖ ፈጣሪ ለሆነ የወደፊት ጉዞ አብረን ለመሥራት እንተጋለን ።

African Survivor Coalition" የስራ አስፈፃሚ አባል እንደመሆኔ፣ በደቡብ አፍሪካ ውስጥ በስደተኞች እና በውጭ ዜጎች ላይ እየተፈጸመ ያለውን የጥላቻ ጥቃት (Xenophobic attacks) በጥብቅ አወግዛለሁ።

ከችግር የተረፍን ባለታሪኮች እና የመብት ተሟጋቾች እንደመሆናችን፣ ተጋላጭ የሆኑ ሰዎች በዜግነታቸው ወይም በስደት ታሪካቸው ምክንያት ሰብአዊ ክብራቸው ሲገፈፍ የሚፈጠረውን ጥልቅ ህመም በሚገባ እንረዳለን። ብዙ ስደተኞች ከድህነት፣ ከሰው ዝውውር፣ ከግጭት፣ ከብዝበዛ እና ከከባድ መከራ ያመለጡ ናቸው። በሌላ የአፍሪካ ሀገር ውስጥ ዳግም ጥቃት እና ፍርሃት ሊገጥማቸው አይገባም።

የአፍሪካ ጥንካሬ ያለው በአንድነቷ፣ በርህራሄዋ እና በጋራ ሰብአዊነቷ እንጂ በመከፋፈል እና በጥላቻ አይደለም።

የሚከተሉትን ጥሪዎች እናቀርባለን፡
• የስደተኞች እና የተጎዱ ማህበረሰቦች ደህንነት በአስቸኳይ እንዲረጋገጥ፤
• ለጥላቻ እና ለጥቃት ድርጊቶች ፈጻሚዎች ተጠያቂነት እንዲሰፍን፤
• ጠንካራ አፍሪካዊ አብሮነት እና ሰላማዊ አብሮ መኖር እንዲጎለብት፤
• የእያንዳንዱ ስደተኛ እና ተፈናቃይ ክብር እና መብት እንዲጠበቅ።

መከራን በምርጫው የሚቀበል የለም። ህልውናውን ለማትረፍ እና የተሻለ እድል ፍለጋ ለሚጓዝ ሰው ጥቃት አይገባውም።

ከስደተኞች፣ ባለታሪኮች፣ ተፈናቃዮች እና በዚህ የጥላቻ ጥቃት ከተጎዱ ማህበረሰቦች ሁሉ ጎን እንቆማለን።

በስደተኞች ላይ የሚሰነዘር ጥቃት በአፍሪካ አንድነት ላይ የተሰነዘረ ጥቃት ነው!

Statement as an Executive Member of the African Survivor Coalition (ASC)

As an Executive Member of the African Survivor Coalition, I strongly condemn the xenophobic attacks and violence targeting migrants and foreign nationals in South Africa.

As survivors and advocates, we understand the deep pain caused when vulnerable people are treated as less human because of their nationality or migration status. Many migrants have already escaped poverty, trafficking, conflict, exploitation, and hardship. They should never face violence and fear in another African country.

Africa’s strength is in its unity, compassion, and shared humanity not division and hatred.

We call for:
• Immediate protection of migrants and affected communities.
• Accountability for acts of violence and hate.
• Stronger African solidarity and peaceful coexistence.
• Respect for the dignity and rights of every migrant and refugee.

No one chooses suffering. No one deserves violence for seeking survival and opportunity.

We stand with migrants, survivors, refugees, and all communities affected by xenophobia.

An attack on migrants is an attack on African unity itself.

የካስማ በጎ አድራጎት ድርጅት በደቡብ አፍሪካ ውስጥ በስደተኞች እና በውጭ ዜጎች ላይ እየደረሰ ያለውን የጥላቻ ጥቃት (Xenophobic attacks) በጥብቅ ያወግዛል። ማንም የሰው ልጅ በዜግነቱ፣ በስደት ታሪኩ ወይም በመጣበት ዳራ ምክንያት ጥቃት፣ መድልዎ፣ ፍርሃት ወይም ውርደት ሊደርስበት አይገባም።
ከስደት ተመላሾች እና ከሰው ዝውውር የተረፉ ወገኖችን እንደሚያገለግል በባለታሪኮች የሚመራ (Survivor-led) ድርጅት፣ ጥላቻ፣ መገለል፣ ብዝበዛ እና ጥቃት በተጋላጭ የማህበረሰብ ክፍሎች ላይ የሚያስከትለውን አሳዛኝ እና አሳማሚ መዘዝ በቅርበት አይተናል። እንዲህ አይነት ኢ-ፍትሃዊ ድርጊቶች ሲፈጸሙ ዝምታን መምረጥ፣ ስቃይን ከማባባስ እና ጥቃትን እንደተለመደ ነገር አድርጎ ከመውሰድ ውጪ ሌላ ትርጉም የለውም።

በመሆኑም የሚከተለውን ጥሪያችንን እናቀርባለን፡-
• የሚመለከታቸው የመንግስት አካላት የሁሉንም ስደተኞች ደህንነት እና ጥበቃ እንዲያረጋግጡ እንዲሁም የጥቃቱ ፈጻሚዎችን በህግ ተጠያቂ እንዲያደርጉ፤
• ማህበረሰቡ የጥላቻ ንግግሮችን፣ ጥቃትን እና መድልዎን በጽኑ እንዲያወግዝ፤
• የአፍሪካ መሪዎች እና ተቋማት በአህጉሪቱ ውስጥ አብሮነትን እና በሰላም አብሮ የመኖር እሴትን እንዲያጠናክሩ።
በስደተኞች ላይ የሚደረግ ጥቃት በሰብአዊነት ላይ የሚደረግ ጥቃት ነው! ካስማ በዚህ ፈታኝ ጊዜ ጥቃት ከደረሰባቸው ስደተኞች እና ማህበረሰቦች ጎን በጽኑ ይቆማል።

Statement by KASMA Charity Organization

KASMA Charity Organization strongly condemns the ongoing xenophobic violence and attacks against migrants and foreign nationals in South Africa. No human being should face violence, discrimination, fear, or humiliation because of their nationality, migration status, or background.

As a survivor-led organization working with returnee migrants and survivors of human trafficking, we have witnessed the painful consequences of hate, exclusion, exploitation, and violence against vulnerable people. Silence in the face of such injustice only deepens suffering and normalizes abuse.

Africa must stand for unity, dignity, humanity, and protection of all people regardless of where they come from. Migrants are not criminals. They are human beings, workers, mothers, fathers, youth, and survivors searching for safety, opportunity, and a better future.

We call upon:
• Authorities to ensure the safety and protection of all migrants and hold perpetrators accountable.
• Communities to reject hate speech, violence, and discrimination.
• African leaders and institutions to strengthen solidarity and peaceful coexistence across the continent.

Violence against migrants is violence against humanity. KASMA stands in solidarity with all affected migrants and communities during this difficult time.

አዲስ ክህሎት፣ አዲስ ማንነት፣ አዲስ ምዕራፍ ለ50 ጀግና ሴቶች! ✨

ካስማ በጎ አድራጎት ድርጅት፣ ከተባበሩት መንግስታት የትረስት ፈንድ (UN Trust Fund) ባገኘው ድጋፍ፣ 50 ከስደት ተመላሽ ሴቶችን በሶስት ቁልፍ የሙያ ዘርፎች (በልብስ ስፌት፣ ፀጉር ስራ እና ምግብ ዝግጅት) እያሰለጠነ ይገኛል።

ነገር ግን ስልጠናችን በሙያ ብቻ የተገደበ አይደለም! ተመላሽ እህቶቻችን "ምንም የሌላቸው" ሳይሆኑ፣ ጠንካራ የህይወት ልምድ እና እውቀት ያላቸው ጀግኖች ናቸው። ለዚህም ነው ከሙያ ስልጠናው ጎን ለጎን፣ በባለታሪኮች የሚመራ የአቻ ለአቻ ድጋፍ (Peer Support) የምንሰጠው። ይህ ጥምረት ወደ ስራ አለም በሙሉ በራስ መተማመን እንዲገቡ ያደርጋቸዋል።

Why is Peer Support so crucial?
Often, returnees suffer in silence, fearing that society won't understand or will judge them. But, as you can see in this image, when a woman sits beside a sister who has walked the exact same painful path, the walls of fear come down.

Listening Without Judgement: She isn't sharing her story with a stranger, but with someone who can honestly say, "I know, I survived it too."

Restoring Dignity: Together, they shift from a mindset of victimhood to asking, "How do we rebuild our lives and lead others?"

Collective Power: Those raised fists are a symbol of victory. A woman who might have fallen alone is now the "Kasma" (pillar) supporting her sisters.

የካስማ የ3 ቀናት የማብቃት ስልጠና | Training Trainers for Peer Support

ባለፉት ሶስት ቀናት በካስማ ቢሮ ልዩ ድባብ ነበረው። ከስደት ተመላሽ የሆኑ እህቶቻችን "ተጎጂ" የሚለውን ስያሜ ሰብረው፣ "መሪ እና ባለታሪክ" ወደመሆን የተሸጋገሩበትን ስልጠና በስኬት አጠናቀናል።

የስልጠናው ዋና ዋና ነጥቦች፡

✅ ራስን መውደድ እና መንከባከብ (Self-Love): "እኔ ማን ነኝ?" ከሚለው ጥያቄ በመነሳት፣ እህቶቻችን በራሳቸው ላይ ያላቸውን እምነት እንዲያሳድጉ ተደርጓል።
✅ የአቻ ለአቻ ድጋፍ (Peer Support): በደልን የኖሩበት ሰዎች እርስ በእርስ ሲደጋገፉ ያለውን ሀይል በተግባር አይተናል። "የእሷ ህመም የእኔም ነው" በሚል መንፈስ እህትማማችነት ተጠናክሯል።
✅ ዝምታን መስበር (Shattering Silence): በማህበረሰቡ ውስጥ ያለውን መገለል (Stigma) እንዴት መጋፈጥ እንደሚቻል እና ድምጽን ለለውጥ እንዴት መጠቀም እንደሚቻል ሰፊ ውይይት ተደርጓል።
ስልጠናው በደስታ፣ በጭብጨባ እና በአንድነት መዝሙር ተጠናቋል። እነዚህ ሴቶች ነገ ማህበረሰባቸውን የሚቀይሩ፣ ለሌሎች ተመላሾች እንደ "ካስማ" (ምሰሶ) ሆነው የሚያገለግሉ መሪዎች ናቸው!

The past three days at KASMA have been truly transformative. We successfully concluded an intensive training session for returnee survivors, shifting the narrative from "victimhood" to "survivor leadership."

Highlights of the Training:

✅ Self-Discovery & Love: Participants explored their identity and rebuilt the self-confidence that trauma often steals.
✅ The Power of Peer Support: Lived experience is our greatest teacher. Survivors supported each other, proving that healing happens best in community.
✅ Advocacy & Leadership: We focused on shattering the silence, overcoming social stigma, and equipping these brave women to become voices for change in their communities.

They are no longer just survivors; they are the pillars (Kasma) of hope for a new generation.

KASMA Charitable Organization is honored to participate in the 4th National Migration Research Conference hosted by Jigjiga University in collaboration with the Ministry of Education Ethiopia and Ministry of Justice Ethiopia.

Our Executive Director, Yenenesh Tilahun, is attending the conference, which brings together government institutions, civil society organizations, international agencies, researchers, and survivor-led organizations to discuss the theme “Labour Migration, Development, and Migration Governance in Ethiopia: Evidence, Policy, and Collaborative Action.”

This important platform highlights the growing role of migration in Ethiopia’s development while addressing critical challenges such as irregular migration, exploitation, and reintegration of survivors. As a survivor-led organization, KASMA continues to advocate for evidence-based policies, stronger protection systems, and survivor-centered responses to human trafficking and unsafe migration.

We appreciate the efforts of partners including International Organization for Migration, European Union, and Save the Children for supporting collaborative dialogue to improve migration governance and protect vulnerable migrants.

What happens when you ask a room full of people to close their eyes and draw themselves? You realize how many of us have lost touch with our true identities.

Our recent Psychosocial Support and Life Skills training was a deeply emotional and transformational experience. At Kasma Charity Organization, we believe that restoring a community starts with restoring the individual. Throughout the event, we focused on three life-changing pillars:

1️⃣ The Art of Self-Love: You cannot pour from an empty cup. We confronted our inner pain and realized that accepting ourselves is the first step to healing.
2️⃣ Peer Support Groups ("You are Me"): Healing happens in safe spaces. We dedicated profound sessions to our sisters returning from the Middle East, teaching them how to build unbreakable peer-to-peer support systems based on shared experiences.
3️⃣ Conflict Resolution: We translated personal peace into community peace, learning how to find the root cause of disagreements, take necessary cooling-off periods, and negotiate with empathy.

When we heal one person, we heal a generation. Thank you to everyone who participated with open hearts.
