ኑ አብረን ሰላምን አናስተምር!

"ሰላማዊ" የሚለው ስም አንድን ሰው፣ ቡድን ወይም ማህበረሰብ ሰላም ነው ብሎ ሊገልፅ ሲፈልግ የሚመርጠው የአማርኛ ቃል ነው። ከዚህ ገፅ የሚወጡት ሁሉም የመገናኛ ዘዴዎች ስለሰላም ግንዛቤን ለመፍጠር ፣ ታጋሽነትን ፣ አፍቃሪነትን፣ አንድነትን እንዲሁም በጎነትን የሚያሳዩ ባህሪያትን የሚፈጥሩ ናቸው።። "Selamawi" is an Amharic term chosen for the very example it should be when describing a person, group or community as peaceful. All the communications coming out of this page exhibit the characteristics of a "Peaceful", tolerant፣ loving and unity devoted to sharing positive energy to create awareness on the concept of peace. The project is being supported by the Rotary Club of Addis Ababa West in through volunteers engaged in providing digital peace program.

🕊️🌿 OUR THIRD PEACE POLE RISES AT KEBENA! 🌿🕊️

As we celebrate the International Day of Peace, we proudly installed the Kebena Peace Pole—our third enduring symbol of unity, hope and our shared responsibility to build peace.

The Kebena Peace Pole has officially joined the worldwide Peace Pole family, carrying Ethiopia’s timeless message to humanity:

“May Peace Prevail on Earth—for Everyone, Everywhere, Every Day.” 🌍

We marked this meaningful occasion by cleaning the Kebena riverside—affirming that peace among people must also include peace with our planet. Every piece of waste removed, every hand extended in service and every voice raised for peace became part of this powerful movement.

This special day was made possible through the collective commitment of the Rotary Ethiopia Peace Center and its local and global partners, including:

🕊️ INVEST IN PEACE — For Everyone, Everywhere, Every Day.

Peace is not a gift that arrives on its own. It is built. It is funded. It is staffed. And it is repeated every single day, by people who decide the work is worth doing again tomorrow.

Today, on the International Day of Peace, we stand together : Rotary Ethiopia Peace Center, Rotary Club of Addis Ababa Central Mella, Rotary Satellite Club of Selam, Interact Ethiopia, the Rotaract Ethiopia Peace Campaign, Timret Lehiwot Ethiopia, UNFPA and the Life & Peace Institute behind one call:

💙 INVEST IN YOUTH. They are not tomorrow's peacebuilders. They are today's.
💙 INVEST IN DIALOGUE. Every honest conversation across a divide is a deposit that pays out in stability.
💙 INVEST IN COMMUNITIES. Clean rivers, safe spaces, shared ground — peace is built in ordinary places.
💙 INVEST IN INCLUSION. Peace that leaves someone out is not peace.
💙 INVEST EVERY DAY. Peace is not a ceremony held once a year. It is a daily practice.

The return on this investment is not counted in profit. It is counted in children who sleep safely, in markets that stay open, in neighbours who still greet one another after a hard season.

እንኳን ለጳጉሜ አደረሳችሁ! 🌼

ጳጉሜ — the thirteenth month. Five days that belong to no other calendar on earth.

Every other calendar closes its year and moves on. Ethiopia stops for five days first. Five days to settle what was left unfinished. To repair what was left broken. To go to the neighbour you fell out with in Hamle and put it right before Meskerem.

Rotarians know that pause by another name. Before we speak, before we act, we ask ourselves four questions — is it true, is it fair to everyone, will it build goodwill, will it benefit all concerned. Pagume asks the same four questions of a whole year at once.

So take the five days. Look back honestly at the year: the peace dialogues, the clinics, the classrooms, the trees, the clean water. Ask what was true. Ask who it served. Then close the ledger and open a new one.

On 9 August 2026, Ethiopia’s second Peace Pole was proudly erected at Mesob Music Center, officially joining the Global Peace Pole Movement⁠.

Beautifully handcrafted by Rotary service members Artist Kassahun Hailu and Artist Bisrat Tulu, its four sides carry the timeless message:

Adorned with hand-designed peace symbols, this is more than a monument—it is a living promise that art, culture, music and community can grow peace.
