In Ethiopia, during the first semester of 2026, the International Committee of the Red Cross engaged with more than 1,600 arms carriers through workshops and meetings on the law of armed conflict and other applicable rules in the , , and regions.

The engagement focused on key topics, including respect for civilians, care for the wounded, the protection of health staff and facilities, and the humane treatment of detainees. These efforts aim to strengthen both adherence to basic humanitarian principles and our ability to safely access conflict-affected communities, often located in remote areas.

እ.ኤ.አ. በ2026 የመጀመሪያ አጋማሽ ዓመት፣ የዓለም አቀፍ ቀይ መስቀል ኮሚቴ በኢትዮጵያ በአማራ፣ በኦሮሚያ እና በትግራይ ክልሎች ውስጥ ከ1,600 በላይ የጦር መሳሪያ ታጣቂዎች ጋር በትጥቅ ግጭቶች ሕግ እና ሌሎች ተፈጻሚ በሚሆኑ ደንቦች ላይ ያተኮሩ ስልጥናዎችን እና ውይይቶችን አካሂዷል።

እነዚህ ውይይቶች የሲቪል ሰዎች ደህንነት መከበር፣ ለቆሰሉ ሰዎች የሚደረግ እንክብካቤ፣ የጤና ባለሙያዎችና ተቋማት ከለላ፣ እንዲሁም በእስር ላይ ያሉ ሰዎች ሰብአዊ አያያዝን የመሳሰሉ ቁልፍ ጉዳዮች ላይ ያተኮሩ ነበሩ። እነዚህ ጥረቶች፣ መሰረታዊ የሰብአዊነት መርሆችን የማክበር ልምድን ከማጠናከር ባሻገር ርቀት ላይ ባሉ አካባቢዎች የሚገኙ በግጭት የተጎዱ ማህበረሰቦችን ደህንነቱ በተጠበቀ ሁኔታ ለመድረስ ለምናደርገው ጥረት ወሳኝ ሚና አላቸው።

To help save lives in emergency situations, the International Committee of the Red Cross, in partnership with the ALERT Comprehensive Specialized Hospital in Addis Ababa, organized a trauma and reconstructive surgery training for surgeons from the region.

Dr. Tesfaye Abraham, General Surgeon at Maychew Hospital, said: “We have learned more about how to treat patients with burns, injuries from accidents, bullet wounds, and about how to manage such cases.” Dr. Bisrat Kidane, General Surgeon at Shire Suhul Hospital, added: “This training helps us optimize our surgical practice, maximize survival chances for our patients, and ensure better quality of life after their recovery.”

Improving the local surgeons' capacity to provide quality healthcare reduces the need for patient referrals, easing suffering and saving lives.

በድንገተኛ አደጋ ጊዜ የሰዎችን ህይወትን ለማትረፍ እንዲረዳ፣ የዓለም አቀፍ ቀይ መስቀል ኮሚቴ በአዲስ አበባ ከሚገኘው አለርት ኮምፕርሄንሲቭ ስፔሻላይዝድ ሆስፒታል ጋር በመተባበር፣ ከትግራይ ክልል ለመጡ የቀዶ ጥገና ሐኪሞች የአሰቃቂ አደጋ ሁኔታ እና ጉዳት የደረሰበትን አካልን ወደነበረበት የመመለስ የቀዶ ጥገና ስልጠና ሰጥትዋቷል።

በማይጨው ሆስፒታል አጠቃላይ የቀዶ ጥገና ሐኪም የሆኑት ዶ/ር ተስፋዬ አብርሃም “በቃጠሎ፣ በአደጋ ወይም በጥይት ምክንያት በሚደርሱ ጉዳቶችን እንዴት ማከም እንደሚቻል እና እንደዚህ ዓይነት ጉዳዮችን እንዴት ማስተዳደር እንዳለብን የበለጠ ተምረናል።” ያሉ ሲሆን፤ በሽሬ ስሁል ሆስፒታል አጠቃላይ የቀዶ ጥገና ሐኪም ዶ/ር ብስራት ኪዳኔ በበኩላቸው “ይህ ስልጠና የቀዶ ጥገና ልምዳችንን እንድናሻሽል፣ ለታካሚዎቻችን የመዳን እድልን ከፍ እንድናደርግ እና ከማገገም በኋላ የሚኖራቸውን ህይወት የተሻለ ለማድረግ ይረዳናል።”ብለዋል»

በየአካባቢው የሚገኙ የቀዶ ጥገና ሐኪሞች ጥራት ያለው ህክምና የመስጠት አቅምን ማሻሻል የታካሚዎችን ሪፈር የመባል አስፈላጊነትን በመቀነስ እና ስቃይን በማቃለል ህይወትን ይታደጋል።

ዓለም ለኸ ኮሚቴ ቀይሕ መስቀል (ዓለኮቀመ) ኣዲስ ኣበባ ምስ ዝርከብ ኣለርት ኮምፕረሀንሲቭ ስፔሻላይዝድ ሆስፒታል ብምትሕብባር ኣብ ትግራይ ንዝሰርሑ ክኢላታት መጥባሕቲ ኣብ ሃንደበታዊ ኩነታት ሂወት ንምድሓን ዘኽእል ስልጠና መጉዳእቲን ፅገናዊ መጥባሕቲን ሂቡ።

ኣብ ሆስፒታል ማይጨው ክኢላ ሓፈሻዊ መጥባሕቲ ዝኾነ ዶክተር ተስፋይ ኣብርሃም "ብቓፀሎ፣ ብሓደጋን ብጥይትን መጉዳእቲ ንዝበፅሖም ሰባት ክንገብረሎም ብዛዕባ ዝግብኣና ክንክን ጥዕና ዝያዳ ተማሂርና ኣለና" ኢሉ። ክኢላ ሓፈሻዊ መጥባሕቲ ሆስፒታል ስሑል ሽረ ዶክተር ብስራት ኪዳነ ብወገኑ "እዚ ስልጠና ናይ መጥባሕቲ ክእለትናን ልምዲናን ናብ ዝበለፀ ደረጃ ብምብፃሕ ንተሓከምትና ናይ ምድሓን ዕድሎም ዘዕቢን ድሕሪ ምሕዋዮም ዝሓሸ ኩነታት ሂወት ንኽህልዎም ዝሕግዝን እዩ" ክብል ወሲኹ ገሊፁ።

እዚ ስልጠና ኣብቲ ከባቢ ዝርከቡ ሓኻይም መጥባሕቲ ፅሬቱ ዝሓለወ ክንክን ጥዕና ንምሃብ ዘለዎም ዓቕሚ ብምዕባይ ከምኡ ’ውን ኣድላይነት ሪፈራል ብምንካይ ስቓይ ንምቕናስን ሂወት ንምድሓንን ይሕግዝ።

Our work includes visiting detainees, supporting sexual violence survivors, reconnecting and reuniting families, supporting health services including physical rehabilitation, rebuilding livelihoods, improving access to water, and promoting respect for humanitarian law.

Providing essential medical supplies to health facilities in conflict-affected areas helps to ensure people receive care closer to home, timely and safely.

Residents of Agita, in North Gojjam, region, express how a recent International Committee of the Red Cross donation to the local health centre has eased access to health services and free medicines for their community.

በግጭት በተጎዱ አካባቢዎች ለሚገኙ የጤና ተቋማት አስፈላጊ የህክምና ቁሳቁስ ድጋፍ ማድረግ፣ ነዋሪዎች ከቤታቸው በቅርበት፣ በወቅቱ እና ደህንነቱ በተጠበቀ ሁኔታ የህክምና አገልግሎት እንዲያገኙ ያግዛል።

From August 24 to 28, the , in collaboration with the Oromia Regional Health Bureau and the Ethiopian Ministry of Health, hosted a transformative five-day Basic Emergency Care training in Nekemte town.

18 professionals from 11 health facilities across East, West, and Horo Guduru Wollega zones, came together to enhance their skills in managing and stabilizing trauma cases in emergencies.

One participant said: “I have gained practical skills to apply in my daily duty of saving lives.”

Strengthening local capacities is crucial to deliver timely health care in areas affected by armed violence, even in the most remote and challenging environments.

የዓለም አቀፍ ቀይ መስቀል ኮሚቴ ከኦሮሚያ ክልል ጤና ቢሮ እና ከኢ.ፌ.ዲ.ሪ ጤና ሚኒስቴር ጋር በመተባበር ከነሐሴ 18 እስከ 22 ለአምስት ቀናት መሠረታዊ የድንገተኛ ህክምና እርዳታ አእሰጣጥ ስልጠና በነቀምቴ ከተማ ሰጥቷል።

በምስራቅ፣ ምዕራብ እና ሆሮ ጉዱሩ ወለጋ ዞኖች ከሚገኙ 11 የጤና ተቋማት የተውጣጡ 18 የጤና ባለሙያዎች፣ በድንገተኛ ሁኔታዎች ወቅት የሚከሰቱ ከባድ የአካል ጉዳቶችን የማስተዳደር እና የታካሚዎችን ሁኔታ የማረጋጋት ክህሎታቸውን ለማሳደግ በስልጠናው ተሳትፈዋል።

አንድ ተሳታፊ፣ "ህይወትን የማዳን የዕለት ተዕለት ስራዬ ላይ የምተገብረው ተግባራዊ ክህሎት አግኝቻለሁ" ሲል ተናግሯል።
