In the villages of Gulo Mekeda Woreda, Eastern Zone, region, access to clean water has been a persistent challenge ever since the 2020-22 armed hostilities.

"The community used to travel long distances and wait in long queues to fetch water, only to get dirty water," says Yibrah Tewelde, Head of the district's Water Office.

To improve the local communities' access to safe water, the International Committee of the Red Cross extended existing pipelines, constructed public water points, and disinfected the reservoir. These efforts brought safe and clean water closer to the homes of approximately 8,000 people, improving their daily lives and reducing the risks associated with unsafe water.

በትግራይ ክልል፣ ምስራቃዊ ዞን፣ ጉሎ መከዳ ወረዳ በሚገኙ መንደሮች ውስጥ ከ2013-15 ዓ.ም ከተከሰተው የትጥቅ ግጭት አንስቶ የንጹህ ውሃ አቅርቦት የማያቋርጥ ፈተና ሆኖ ቆይቷል።

"ማህበረሰቡ ውሃ ለመቅዳት ረጅም ርቀት ተጉዝው እና ረጅም ወረፋ ጠብቀው የሚያገኙት ቆሻሻ ውሃ ነበር" ይላሉ የወረዳው የውሃ ጽህፈት ቤት ኃላፊ ይብራህ ተወልደ።

የአካባቢው ማህበረሰቦች ንጽህናው የተጠበቀ ውሃ የማግኘት ተደራሽነትን ለማሻሻል የዓለም አቀፍ ቀይ መስቀል ኮሚቴ ነባር የቧንቧ መስመሮችን አስፋፍቷል፣ የህዝብ የውሃ መቅጃ ጣቢያዎች ግንባታ እና የውሃ ገንዳውን በፀረ-ተህዋሲያን የማጽዳት ሥራ አከናውኗል። እነዚህ ጥረቶች 8,000 የሚጠጉ የአካባቢው ነዋሪዎች ንጽህናው የተጠበቀ ውሃ በመኖሪያ ቤታቸው አቅራቢያ እንዲያገኙ ከማስቻሉም በላይ የዕለት ተዕለት ህይወታቸውን በማሻሻል ንጽህናው ካለተጠበቀ ውሃ ጋር ተያይዘው የሚመጡ ጉዳቶችን ቀንሰዋል።

ኣብ ምብራቓዊ ዞባ ትግራይ፣ ወረዳ ጉሎ መኸዳ እትርከብ ከተማ ዝባን ሑፃ ካብ 2013-15 ዓ.ም ዝተኻየደ ዕጥቃዊ ተፃብኦ ስዒቡ ዝነበረ ተበፃሕነት ፅሩይ ዝስተ ማይ ቀፃሊ ብድሆ ኮይኑ ፀኒሑ እዩ።

"እቲ ሕብረተሰብ ፅሩይ ንዘይኮነ ማይ ነዊሕ ርሕቀት ይጓዓዝን ነዊሕ ሰልፊ ይፅበን ነይሩ" ይብል ሓላፊ ቤት ፅሕፈትማይ እቲ ወረዳ ይብራህ ተወልደ።

ናይቲ ማሕበረሰብ ተበፃሕነት ፅሩይ ዝስተ ማይ ንምምሕያሽ ዓለም ለኸ ኮሚቴ ቀይሕ መስቀል (ዓለኮቀመ) ነቶም ዝነበሩ መስመራት ማይ ኣስፊሑ፣ ናቑጣታት ማይ ሃኒፁን ነቲ መዋህለሊ ማይ ኣንፂሁን። እዞም ፃዕሪታት እዚኦም ኣስታት 8,000 ሰባት ፅሩይ ዝስተ ማይ ኣብ ቀረብኦም ክረኽቡ ኣኽኢሎም። በዚ ድማ ዕለታዊ ሂወቶም ክመሓየሽን ካብ ዘይፅሩይ ማይ ክመፅእ ዝኽእል ፀገም ክቕንስን ሓጊዙ።

የዓለም የሰብአዊነት ቀን በሚከበርበት በዛሬ ቀን፣ የቀይ መስቀል እና የቀይ ጨረቃ እንቅስቃሴ ልብ የሆኑትን የሰብአዊ ሠራተኞች አስደናቂ ብርታት እና ቁርጠኝነት እንዘክራለን።

Meet Mikias Asnake, who enrolled in the International Committee of the Red Cross social integration project and is currently working as an intern radio journalist at Amhara Media Corporation. He lost his leg due to conflict and struggled to find a job because of his physical disability.

The , in collaboration with the Bahir Dar Federation of Association of Persons with Disabilities, is supporting 36 graduates with physical disabilities in Bahir Dar through a structured career development and internship project.

As part of the project, the graduates were provided career development training over the course for two days and placed in three-month internships at various host organizations to gain hands-on work experience.

በፕሮጀክቱ ተመራቂዎቹ የሁለት ቀናት የስራ ክህሎት ማጎልበቻ ስልጠና የተሰጣቸው ሲሆን፣ ተግባራዊ የስራ ልምድ እንዲያገኙም በተለያዩ ተቋማት ውስጥ ለሦስት ወራት የሚቆይ የተግባር ልምምድ እድል ተመቻችቶላቸዋል።

In collaboration with the Oromia Health Bureau, and Ministry of Health,Ethiopia, the International Committee of the Red Cross recently organized a 5-day Basic Emergency Care training in Nekemte town for 18 healthcare professionals from 10 health facilities across East, West, and Horo Guduru Wollega zones in the region.

"This life-saving training enhances our knowledge in managing critical patients we encounter on a daily basis. I have gained essential skills that I am eager to apply in my practice," said one participant.

The training focused on stabilizing trauma patients—providing essential life-saving skills to ensure timely medical care in remote and challenging environments.

The safehouses in Adigrat, Maychew, and Mekelle, region, provide safety, psychosocial support, and vocational training for survivors of sexual violence.

In mid-2025, these safehouses were at risk of closure due to underfunding. The International Committee of the Red Cross stepped in to contribute to food security for the survivors and their children.

To create a lasting impact, we equipped these safehouses with machinery, materials, and financial assistance. Bakeries were established, supplying bread for residents and enabling the safehouses to generate income and sustain operations during challenging times.

ኣብ መወዳእታ 2017 ዓ.ም እዞም ዉሑስ ማእኸላት ብሕፅረት ደገፍ ምኽንያት ግልጋሎት ደው ናይ ምባል ሓደጋ ኣጋጢምዎም ነይሩ። ዓለም ለኸ ኮሚቴ ቀይሕ መስቀል (ዓለኮቀመ) ብወገኑ ናይ ምግቢ ውሕስና ኣብ ምርግጋፅ ኣበርክቶ ንምግባር ስራሕቲ ጀሚሩ። ዘላቕነት እቶም ዉሑስ ማእኸላት ንምሕጋዝ ብማሽነሪታት፣ ንዋትን ፋይናንሳዊ ደገፍን ኣጠናኺርና።

Killing or injuring healthcare workers, bombing hospitals, and targeting ambulances aren't just "war consequences." They are a collapse of humanity.

Under international humanitarian law, patients and humanitarian workers are protected along with the hospitals they work in and the ambulances they rely on.

የጤና ባለሙያዎችን መግደል ወይም ማቁሰል፣ ሆስፒታሎችን በቦምብ ማጥቃት እና አምቡላንሶችን ዒላማ ማድረግ የ"ጦርነት ውጤቶች" ብቻ አይደሉም፤ የሰብአዊነት መርህ ውድቀትን የሚያሳዩ ድርጊቶች ናቸው።

Armed violence and insecurity have disrupted access to health care for numerous communities in the West Wollega zone of the region.

"We struggled to get medicines due to security and transportation challenges. We often had to travel long distances, which was very hard for us," said a local community member.

To address these difficulties, the International Committee of the Red Cross donated medicines and medical supplies to Wanki and Agemsa Bala Health Centers, as well as Mendi Primary Hospital.

These supplies ensure the continuation of essential healthcare services, offering renewed hope to the community.

"Losing our animals was like losing our future. These goats have given us a chance to start again. We can care for them, breed them, and provide for our children once more," said a resident of Central Armachiho.

In conflict-affected areas of this district in Central Gondar, region, through cash transfers 3,000 people acquired productive goats to replace the livestock they had lost.

As part of the early recovery effort and to support their resilience, the International Committee of the Red Cross trained all families in animal husbandry, equipping them with the skills needed to care for and grow their herds. Looking ahead, plans are in place to renovate the Masero veterinary clinic to strengthen local animal health services.

Another resident said: "As the conflict continued, we never thought we would own livestock again. We had lost hope. Today, these goats have given us that hope back."

በአማራ ክልል፣ ማዕከላዊ ጎንደር ዞን በግጭት በተጎዱ አካባቢዎች ለሚገኙ ነዋሪዎች በተደረገላቸው የጥሬ ገንዘብ ድጋፍ አማካኝነት 3,000 ሰዎች ያጡዋቸውን እንስሳት የሚተኩ የእርባታ ፍየሎችን መግዛት ችለዋል።

ከተደረገው ድጋፍ በተጨማሪ እንደ ቅድመ ማገገሚያ ጥረቶች አካል እና የማህበረሰቡን የመቋቋም አቅም ለማሳደግ የዓለም አቀፍ ቀይ መስቀል ኮሚቴ ለሁሉም ቤተሰቦች የእንስሳት እርባታ ስልጠና የሰጠ ሲሆን፣ መንጋቸውን ለመንከባከብ እና ለማሳደግ የሚያስፈልጉ ክህሎቶችን እንዲያገኙ አድርጓል። ወደፊትም የአካባቢውን የእንስሳት ጤና አገልግሎት ለማጠናከር የማሰሮ የእንስሳት ህክምና ክሊኒክን የማደስ እቅድ ተይዟል።

ሌላው የአካባቢው ነዋሪ እና የድጋፉ ተጠቃሚ ደግሞ "ግጭቱ በመቀጠሉ፣ እንደገና የራሳችን እንስሳት ይኖሩናል ብለን አስበን አናውቅም ነበር፤ ተስፋ ቆርጠን ነበር። ዛሬ ግን እነዚህን ፍየሎች ማግኘታችን ያንን ተስፋ መልሰን እንድናገኝ አስችሎናል" ብለዋል::
