CORHA, in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Jephigo Kenya in Ethiopia, conducted an Inception & Consensus Building Meeting on Media Advocacy in Ethiopia.
The workshop brought together representatives from the Ministry of Health, Key stakeholders, Media partners and health advocates to discuss the key advocacy priority areas.
Mr Yordanos Albachew, a representative of the Ministry of Health, in his opening remarks mentioned media advocacy is beyond disseminating information and awareness creation it is influencing the community and policymakers.
The workshop was also an opportunity for the participants to understand the Reproductive Health and Family Planning program gains, challenges and opportunities, the overall Health financing landscape, as well as to discuss the prioritisation of the advocacy Agenda.

“Menstrual health and hygiene is not simply a matter of health. It is fundamentally a matter of human dignity, gender equality, social inclusion, education, economic participation, and public health,” said H.E. Huria Ali, State Minister of the Ministry of Women and Social Affairs, during the National Forum on Menstrual Health and Hygiene held in Hawassa.

The Consortium of Reproductive Health Associations (CORHA), with financial support from UNFPA Ethiopia and in collaboration with the Ministry of Women and Social Affairs, organized the forum to advance and strengthen Ethiopia’s menstrual health market.

The forum brought together representatives from the House of Peoples’ Representatives, the Ministry of Women and Social Affairs, the Ministry of Health, the Ethiopian Food and Drug Authority (EFDA), private sector actors, civil society organizations, and other key stakeholders.

Discussions focused on improving product standards and quality, tax reform, promoting local manufacturing, and strengthening public-private partnerships to ensure safe, affordable, and accessible menstrual health products for women and girls across Ethiopia.

The forum also highlighted the significant potential of local manufacturing and private-sector innovation in building stronger and more sustainable supply chains.

Speaking at the forum, Mr. Abebe Kebede, Executive Director of CORHA, called upon government institutions, private sector actors, and other stakeholders to work together and develop practical solutions for girls and women living in conditions that make access to quality menstrual hygiene products difficult.

CORHA also donated dignity materials to a youth-led initiative, “Together for Her,” which will distribute the materials to women and girls in need.
