As President of Lanzarote Cat Protection, I feel incredibly fortunate because the network of friends, volunteers, and supporters around me is worth more than any treasure.
I want to mention Miriam & Roberto, who never hesitates to open their home and their heart to every kitten and cat that arrives. No matter how small, sick, frightened, or demanding they are, they give them love, safety, and the very best care.
I want to mention Andreas, whose determination never seems to run out. Through his tireless work with our TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) program, he has achieved extraordinary results in just a few years. Today alone, he rescued a pregnant cat whose uterus was severely malformed. Without intervention, she would almost certainly have died during birth. Stories like this happen because he simply never gives up.
I want to mention Esther, who has dedicated a huge part of her life to helping animals survive. She currently shares her home with 26 cats and a dog, many of them seniors, special cases, or animals that had very few chances elsewhere. She gives them comfort, care, and a future when many would have given up on them.
I want to mention Lesley , who seems to be everywhere at once, driving from one place to another, helping whoever needs help, feeding cats across the island, delivering cat food everywhere and doing it all with endless energy, despite being retired and fully entitled to a quieter life.
And there are many others.
But I also want to mention you ; our followers, supporters, and donors.
Because the truth is that without you, none of this would be possible.
Every bag of food, every veterinary treatment, every sterilisation, every rescue, every foster placement, every adoption journey is possible because of your generosity. You may not always be the ones trapping cats, feeding colonies, or driving to the vet, but you are standing beside us every single day.
We are like a pyramid. Every brick has its place and its purpose. Remove one brick, and the structure becomes weaker. Together, each volunteer, foster home, donor, supporter, adopter, and follower forms part of something much bigger than themselves.
We are not a large organisation. We do not have endless resources. What we have is something far more valuable: people who care.
I am incredibly proud to call these people my friends, and I am deeply grateful to every single person who supports our mission.
Because of all of you, I never feel alone. I feel supported. I feel safe. And most importantly, I know that the cats in our care are surrounded by genuine animal lovers who work together to give them a better life.
Lanzarote Cat Protection is not built by one person. It is built by all of us, together, one brick at a time. ❤️🐾
