Diary of Fabienne:

Five puppies in a trash can, at 40 degrees.

I have been on this rescue mission for 26 years now and we are at 35,000 dogs further along, and yet I still can't understand how someone can have the heart to throw 5 little puppies into the trash can... It is and remains so horrible, so inhumane, so disgusting...

They were full of fleas and have lost their mother... That makes them so restless and scared, because they are barely three weeks old. They eat almost alone, they are so vulnerable, but still thrown away... These puppies are not yet up for adoption, they are still too small and we can only hope that they survive...

We will have mercy on them and hope that they will soon become happy dog children, which starts today!

Mora, one of the many rescued Galgo puppies who was once abandoned by her hunter and saved from a slaughterhouse, unfortunately she has bone cancer. We can not change her past, but we can change her her final chapter.

That's why Mora is allowed to spend her last days in Belgium, surrounded by love, warmth, and comfort. No longer unwanted, finally a beloved dog with her own basket and people who love to see her.

No one knows how long she has left. What we do know is that Mora will spend her last days as every dog deserves: loved, safe, and at home. ❤️🐾

Diary of Fabienne:

The story of Lucky (ACE Qays), our pup from the killing station ...

Sometimes you just have to stop and think about how special life can be... How a small, vulnerable pup who was once discarded and ended up in a killing station can eventually grow into an indispensable companion.

Lucky was one of the many pups who came to us from the killing station . Pups who wanted nothing more than to live. Pups who had no idea why their life had become so uncertain. As always, we went looking for their golden basket. For a home where they would be loved, where they would be safe, and where they could finally just be a dog.

But for Lucky, the story became so much more special...

It was something that slowly grew. A bond that grew stronger every day. Lucky found his special person in the boy from the house, a boy with autism. From the very first moment, a connection formed between them that is hard to put into words. A connection you have to see and feel to understand how intense and special it can be.

What once seemed like a small, insignificant pup became an indispensable companion. They go through life together. Together on the road, together learning, together growing. Lucky feels it, learns, discovers, and develops every day.

His owner tells us:

"Lucky is smart, so we do all sorts of fun games with him. In addition, we are rebuilding the movement and we are constantly looking for what Lucky needs. He just needs to be able to be a dog, besides his job as a service dog. That's why we are looking for the right balance. We are also looking for his 'button'. Regularly, he goes to the bench for a few hours, so that he can learn to unplug. And that is quite difficult for a collie. Just like it is sometimes difficult for a mastiff to keep his mouth shut when someone walks by... his other half. 😉 We are working hard on it."

And that is exactly what is so beautiful to see. No perfect picture. No miracle that happened overnight. But learning together, falling together, getting up together, and especially growing together.

Lucky is no longer that pup from the killing station .
He has become someone. A size. A support. A loyal friend. A dog who for one special little boy might just mean the world. And when we think back to where he came from... From a deadbeat, where his life seemed so worthless, to a life in which he is indispensable, loved, and of immeasurable value... Then we know exactly why we do this.

For Lucky.
For all those other Lucky's who are still waiting.
For every animal that someone once thought was worth nothing.

Because sometimes a life that was discarded by someone is exactly the life that means everything to someone else. And Lucky? He's still not learned yet. But one thing we know for sure: he has found his place. And what a beautiful place it is! Take a look for yourself: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61589086325659

And don't forget: Don't shop, adopt!

Diary of Fabienne:

Elinor, finally free!

Elinor is one of the many hundreds of bread-bred mothers who had no choice but to produce. She is a medium-sized Poodle and her past was quite marked, especially towards men with a loud voice and a hood or cap on their head.

She was in foster for a few weeks, where she could recover a bit. That made it very clear that Elinor is extremely attached to her people, very clingy, and very intelligent. She really wants to belong to someone, and that for the rest of her life.

Elinor needs the right owner to invest time and patience in her so that she can slowly become accustomed to this world that she didn't know at all. She learned to walk on a leash, ride in the car, and even on a bike, and found this absolutely wonderful!

Who will give her a new chance?

🚚Help our four-legged friends on their way to their new life! 🚚

For almost 27 years, we have been rescuing dogs and cats from the most desperate situations. We provide them with medical care, safety, love, and the time to regain trust. After that, they are ready for the most beautiful step of all: a home of their own. Thanks to the support of our adopters, more than 36,000 animals have found their golden basket in Belgium and the Netherlands.

However, our regular carrier has decided to stop its activities due to the new strict regulations for international transport in Europe. We, however, are not deterred by this. On the contrary: we continue to ensure that our dogs and cats arrive on time and safely at the families who are waiting for them!

That is why we have purchased our own transport van, which is fully adapted to the new regulations. This means an investment of €35,000. A huge amount, which we will never be able to repay without your help!

🚚 Every euro helps and brings a dog or cat one kilometer closer to their own basket.

Dear All, the Cafe American Bistro are generously hosting an event in aid of our charity. As you know we care for 500 dogs and 200 cats that have been abandoned, often mistreated and unwanted (the shelter is always short of funds). Please share widely or if you can make it, it will be an entertaining night 🤩🙏
