abandoned, and mistreated dogs and cats. Dirk sadly lost his battle against cancer in April this year, he devoted his life to the rescue and care of animals at ACE Shelter. DOG OF THE WEEK: Phoebe

Phoebe (6 years old) is a beautiful Mastin Español with a big heart and a strong bond with people. She is extremely sweet, cuddly, and always looking for affection. After a year with us, she still stays with hope for a permanent place where she can enjoy love and attention. She is smart and a quick learner, especially if she trusts her owner.

Phoebe likes exercise and challenge, but can also relax on her pillow. She has a protective instinct and faithfully guards her home, making her an excellent guard dog. Nevertheless she is friendly to people and defrosts quickly, especially when you show her you like her.

Phoebe is looking for a home where she will be the only dog. She loves people, but other dogs can be a challenge for her. She needs an experienced owner who can guide her firmly and help guard her boundaries. Phoebe can sometimes be insecure around other dogs, which can be shown in dominant behavior. That's why we are looking for someone who can support her with patience and determination.

If you're looking for a loyal, people-oriented dog who loves to be your companion, but also needs space and leadership, Phoebe is your match! Phoebe finally deserves her own place where she can fully show her amazing personality.

Fabienne's diary:

Dumas had to wait a long time...

He is a beautiful sturdy Shepherd in heart and soul, the dog of his proud owner from Gribaltar who was very proud of his Dumas.

One day, however, his owner became very ill and went away too quickly. Dumas was the dupe of the whole thing and was in the street... He was admitted to a temporary shelter but he couldn't stay here, then he came to us but his paperwork was not in order...

It took almost a year before we got everything sorted... But since this week he has been registered in our name. Too sad for words, but it took a year of his life.

He is in character a treasure of a dog, a calm and good soul that let everything go. A true friend to people, and a typical shepherd!

Fabienne's diary:

Killing stations, bread breeding and vacations...

It's that time of year again when thousands of pets are left behind because they don't fit into their family's holiday plans. Children are told that they can come along on holiday, but that the doggy is "going away". What is often not told is that that loyal friend never comes home.

The death wards are crying out for help. Everything is crowded everywhere. We want to help, and we do so, every time again, whenever it is possible. But the need is greater than ever.

More and more people can no longer afford the veterinarian's expenses. When their dog or cat gets sick or needs care, some people don't see any other way than distancing themselves from their animal. Not always because of unwillingness, but because everything has become so expensive. It's a harsh reality of these days.

In addition, we have seen two bread farms open up in the area this year alone, and unfortunately there are many more. Whatever you touch there, stays burned on your retina forever. It will break your heart. Nevertheless, you have to stay strong and help where you can, bringing animal after animal to safety. How people can do such things to animals remains a big mystery to me and many of us. We are all humans, but sometimes we seem to be from another world.

Our will to help is great, but our possibilities are endless. No matter how difficult it is, sometimes we have to set boundaries. And believe me, that hurts. When another animal is at the gate, abandoned, neglected or simply unwanted, you want nothing more than to help. But wants and can be not always the same. A rescue operates with limited resources, while the need never stops.

Rescue work is hard, emotional and often heartbreaking. But at the same time, it's also something very special. Animals deserve the second chance. Their gratitude, their trust and the love they give back makes so much good. It's often the people that blow your mind on a daily basis, sometimes in a positive way, but unfortunately far too often the opposite.

That's why we keep going. For every animal that no one seems to want anymore. For every soul that needs a voice. Because they deserve better, always!

Fabienne's diary:

The story of Julius and Cleopatra.

Their lives have already been lived for a while but they never knew happiness nor what comes close to a feeling of home. The man of the house didn't want them walking around the house, so they lived their whole lives in a small bench measuring 50 cm by 50 cm, where no one saw or heard them. Over the years, their whining, their hope for salvation, for improvement, has turned into barrenness. They were given food and drink but often lived in their own f***s, dirty and filthy, completely animal-worthy.

I heard this horrible story one day a friend of mine and she called me. Not long after they came to us and changed it for all of them. It was quite a hassle at first to get them to our name but we succeeded, they're here...

Both sweethearts only know each other and trust each other completely. Nevertheless, they are very social, and they enjoy lots of attention and hugs. They are very sweet and most of all very appreciative.. They are rescued and now have a chance to finally go home somewhere! We prefer to love them all together because it's a real couple that actually can't live without each other...

📌UPDATE - HIS OWNER HAS BEEN FOUND!! 💚

Thank you all for sharing!

**FOUND DOG – PLEASE SHARE 🙏

This friendly male dog was found wandering near the bridge in Entrerríos. He is estimated to be 7+ years old, neutered, and was wearing a harness when found.

He does have a microchip, but unfortunately, it is not registered in any database, so we are hoping to find his owner through social media.

Do you recognize him or know where he belongs? Please contact us. He is currently safe and waiting at ACE. ❤️

Please share to help us reunite him with his family.
