Diary of Fabienne:
The story of Lucky (ACE Qays), our pup from the killing station ...
Sometimes you just have to stop and think about how special life can be... How a small, vulnerable pup who was once discarded and ended up in a killing station can eventually grow into an indispensable companion.
Lucky was one of the many pups who came to us from the killing station . Pups who wanted nothing more than to live. Pups who had no idea why their life had become so uncertain. As always, we went looking for their golden basket. For a home where they would be loved, where they would be safe, and where they could finally just be a dog.
But for Lucky, the story became so much more special...
It was something that slowly grew. A bond that grew stronger every day. Lucky found his special person in the boy from the house, a boy with autism. From the very first moment, a connection formed between them that is hard to put into words. A connection you have to see and feel to understand how intense and special it can be.
What once seemed like a small, insignificant pup became an indispensable companion. They go through life together. Together on the road, together learning, together growing. Lucky feels it, learns, discovers, and develops every day.
His owner tells us:
"Lucky is smart, so we do all sorts of fun games with him. In addition, we are rebuilding the movement and we are constantly looking for what Lucky needs. He just needs to be able to be a dog, besides his job as a service dog. That's why we are looking for the right balance. We are also looking for his 'button'. Regularly, he goes to the bench for a few hours, so that he can learn to unplug. And that is quite difficult for a collie. Just like it is sometimes difficult for a mastiff to keep his mouth shut when someone walks by... his other half. 😉 We are working hard on it."
And that is exactly what is so beautiful to see. No perfect picture. No miracle that happened overnight. But learning together, falling together, getting up together, and especially growing together.
Lucky is no longer that pup from the killing station .
He has become someone. A size. A support. A loyal friend. A dog who for one special little boy might just mean the world. And when we think back to where he came from... From a deadbeat, where his life seemed so worthless, to a life in which he is indispensable, loved, and of immeasurable value... Then we know exactly why we do this.
For Lucky.
For all those other Lucky's who are still waiting.
For every animal that someone once thought was worth nothing.
Because sometimes a life that was discarded by someone is exactly the life that means everything to someone else. And Lucky? He's still not learned yet. But one thing we know for sure: he has found his place. And what a beautiful place it is! Take a look for yourself: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61589086325659
