Vegan Organic Network

Vegan Organic Network ‘Veganic’ is a combination of two words ‘vegan’ and ‘organic’. The Vegan-Organic Network attempts to come to grips with politics and ethics in everyday living.

It’s a guarantee that food is grown in an organic way with only plant based fertilizers, encouraging functional biodiversity. To achieve sustainable agriculture there has to be a new relationship between food producers and the economic system. We do not want economic policies which condemn millions to poverty, ill health and death. In this country (the UK) we want to free the 85% of land that is c

urrently used directly, or indirectly to feed animals. This will liberate both us and them from the cruelty of the slaughterhouse, and will release land for the production of plant foods and provide natural habitats for animals. The economics of this major change have yet to be calculated, but we consider that subsidies should only be paid to encourage this transition. Social and spiritual well-being within society can only be achieved when we work together co-operatively towards a common aim that takes crises, droughts, famines, excesses and waste out of the equation. Vegan-organics is any system of cultivation that avoids artificial chemicals and sprays, livestock manures and animal remains from slaughter houses. Alternatively, fertility is maintained by vegetable compost, green manures, crop rotation, mulches, and any other method that is sustainable, ecologically viable and not dependent upon animal exploitation. This will ensure long term fertility, and wholesome food for this and future generations. Vegan-organics is but one aspect of a dynamic culture. Our commitment is to peace and justice for people, animals and the environment in a sustainable balance. To achieve this we must change our lifestyles and introduce a philosophy which will continue to maintain our unique planet. We are motivated by our awareness of the great unease in society that we are moving towards a world that can no longer sustain life in the natural way it has always evolved.

What an amazing weekend at Sanctuary Campfest, full of fantastic music, talks, food, activism, and friendship!! 🌟

Dan from the Vegan Organic Network gave a talk about the importance of plant-based agriculture.

And we spoke with festival-goers, many of whom joined the Vegan Organic World Map.

Mobius Loop even took some Growing Green International magazines to share with others.

And we had an opportunity to meet the marvellous animal residents at the Retreat Animal Rescue sanctuary.

The Vegan Organic Network is proud to be a co-organiser of Sanctuary Campfest. This festival came together in under a month! We'd like to thank Plants & Pints at The Riverside Inn and The Retreat Animal Rescue Farm Sanctuary and Cafe and all the other co-organisers, volunteers, speakers, food vendors, and amazing musicians for helping make Sanctuary Campfest a success!

We're creating a new vegan organic school garden! 🌱

Juliette and Giles are collaborating with Belchamp St Paul school to add a sensory herb garden, raised beds, and more.

This garden is part of the Growing Nature Academy and supported by the Vegan Organic Network.

We'll be posting more updates soon to show the garden transformation in progress!

The Vegan Organic Network is running a veganic video competition! 🤩 https://veganorganic.net/video

If you make a 1-minute video about vegan organic growing, you could win cash prizes!

(Just imagine all the wonderful things you could buy with a cash prize... like more seeds... and more potting mix... and more plants!!!) 😉

And above all, you'll be adding your voice to help spread awareness about vegan organic gardening and farming.

Your video doesn't have to be fancy (though if you're a fancy person, you're of course welcome to make a fancy video). Simply head outside with a cellphone, record a one-minute video about veganic growing, and send it to the Veganic for the Planet competition!

There are several video categories you can choose, from quick garden tours to why we should change the food system, and more.

You can get all the details about the video competition here: https://veganorganic.net/video

Submit your video by September 25th, and we can't wait to see what everyone creates 🙂

A new community growing project is in the works! 🌱

At the Vegan Organic Network, we're helping to create a new garden in Manchester UK on land behind Rolls Crescent School, to green our community while improving local food security.

Today we had a great meeting with Bernard, Cherry, Steve, Shaun, Tony, Dan A, Dan G, Gilly and Willow.

Many ideas were shared for a vision of how we can transform this space, including creating a forest garden, willow tunnel, raised beds, and adding rainwater catchment containers. We also spoke about the importance of conducting soil quality tests and holding a public consultation to include community feedback.

We envision a future garden that will serve the community, while also being a teaching garden for local schools and educational workshops.

🌿 Would you like to contribute to creating this community growing project in Manchester UK? We've created a WhatsApp group called ‘R’ Garden. Get in touch if you'd like to join!

Nick Timothy, the local MP for West Suffolk, recently visited our Growing Nature Academy project at Clare Community Primary School, where VON's Juliette Bryant has run a year-long programme of weekly planet-friendly Growing Nature Clubs with the children.

Mr Timothy was extremely impressed with our work and said:

"How do we get this into all the schools? What you have created here is truly remarkable."

We're looking forward to bringing the Growing Nature Academy to more schools throughout the country, to give children the opportunity to learn about planet-friendly gardening for their wellbeing, for their health, and for sustainability.
