Sunny Shores Dog Rescue - Spain

Sunny Shores Dog Rescue - Spain A small but mighty independent dog rescue based in Malaga Spain. Founded in 2015 with 30+ years experience. We rehome all over the UK and EU.

Predominantly rescuing PPP bull breeds but helping them all when we can. Formerly Hampshire Hounds Dog Rescue and The PPPK , we merged in June 2020. Sunny Shores Dog Rescue will always be a CIO charity. We will remain volunteers and no one will profit from the misfortune of neglected and abandoned dogs. We have kennel facilities in Spain and are foster based in and around the Lymington/New Forest

area in UK. We are all dog owners, dog lovers and have been friends for many years. We have all volunteered for rescues and various organisations, adopted, fostered and donated. We have witnessed puppy farming, helped investigations of dog fighting rings, reported Back Yard Breeders to HMRC, we've seen it all! Our experience spans 80+ years. OUR AIM
Our aim is to continue to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome as many dogs as possible, all with full assessments, health checks and with full RBU throughout Europe and the UK. Only UK legal dogs will travel to the UK and only when they have a 5 star home that has been checked and approved by the trustees. We will not send dogs to fosters from outside of their geographical origin. We will continue to try and help other rescuers, rescue groups and charities, as we have done for many years. Thanks to established relationships with these people we hope to provide a proverbial light at the end of the tunnel to dogs who need and deserve a wonderful home but are simply not being shown to the right audience. With regards to the UK side of the operation, we will continue to assist and provide a service to the public as our mission states. The dogs will be cared for in foster homes in the New Forest area and be rehomed throughout the UK. We will continue our education programmes and help to relieve the suffering of dogs due to ignorance and neglect. We will never make anyone feel ashamed that they have to surrender their dog nor will we ever charge them a fee. In Spain we have the facilities to ensure that the dogs are rescued and assessed to ensure that the forever home is a perfect fit, or at least as perfect as it is humanly possible to guarantee and with a less than 5% failure rate in 2019 we are confident that we are doing the very best we can. This year to date, 2020 has shown 0% failures and we hope to maintain that ensuring happy, healthy dogs find loving homes where they will be loved and treated as part of the family for the rest of their days. We will continue to update our followers and supporters daily and hope that you will all stay with us and also that you will invite your friends and families to our page and website.

"AND THEN THERE WERE NONE"

We waved off Bea and Bertie this week🥰
The last two of Reina's puppies.

We decided to split them up during quarantine and start the process of them being individuals.

They travelled so well with
ProPaws European Transport Services

They made a right spectacle of themselves when walking on video in France and the UK until they reached their homes in the south west of England, typical! 😆 All that lead training gone right out the window!

Both decompressing nicely in their loving homes.

Thank you for sharing our posts. Thank you for your donations and sponsorship.

We now have a empty kennel for another dog to rescue and save.
Watch this space 😉😉😉❤️🐾

💘💘VALENTINA 💘💘

Valentina had her freedom ride from the pound in February where she had spent two years. She had a chip but her owner never responded to the calls.

That's all behind her now and as you can see she is glowing!

Valentina is three years old and an English Bulldog cross. She is slight and weighs 20 kgs. Short walks are best and she enjoys the company of male dogs her own size. No history of cats or children. Spayed, fully vaccinated, blood tested and holding an EU passport, Valentina is ready to travel and will be delivered to your front door.

Please email your interest to [email protected] and we will send you an information sheet and application form. Home and other checks are carried out. An adoption donation and transport costs apply.

If you're not in a position to adopt right now then please share this post for Valentina, you never know who's looking. Thank you 🙏🏻❤️🐾

🤗Please welcome Lucy to Sunny Shores Dog Rescue, Spain 🤗
Lucy was found a fortnight ago wandering the streets with a heavy chain attached. Lucy was scanned for a chip but there wasn't one so the police called the nearest shelter for help and a kind foster came forward for her but after a week their landlord wouldn't allow them to keep pets so we stepped in. Lucy has had a recent litter and many before that. Estimated to be approximately three years old, she will be under assessment. Tentative enquires welcome by email to [email protected] or WhatsApp 07581 193729 Offers of sponsorship or a one off donation very welcome too 🙏🏻❤️🐾

🏡 🙏FOR ADOPTION 🇪🇸🇪🇺🇬🇧
HOPE, on the right, and HONEY are now 18 months old.

They were rescued having been abandoned as very young pups in rural Spain.

They are suited only to a rural property or campo lifestyle as they are very shy and unsure of new people.

They are fully vaccinated, health checked, microchipped and hold full EU passports.

They can be homed together or individually. They are untested around children and other animals.

Please email [email protected] for an information sheet and application form.

Please share for Hope and Honey 🙏🐾

When Laws Outgrow Logic: The Reality of the UK XL Bully Ban!

The UK’s Breed Specific Legislation (BSL), has, for the past few years been targeting XL Bully dogs. It was introduced with the intention of improving public safety, but in practise it has created a complicated and often heartbreaking reality especially for responsible, loving dog owners.

The best and most responsible owners can still face circumstances beyond their control, life changes, financial hardship, housing issues and other factors that make it impossible to keep their dogs.

Under current law, XL Bullies cannot be rehomed. This leaves owners facing an unthinkable and devastating fact, they have to have their dog put to sleep, not for anything the dog has done, but simply because of what they are perceived to be.

Some of these people have reached out to Sunny Shores and we were there to help.

In a time when mental health is finally being recognised and spoken about openly, this legislation fails to acknowledge the deep emotional bond between people and their dogs. For many, their dog is not “just a pet” they are a lifeline, a constant companion through loneliness, anxiety, and hardship.
For some, their pet is the only source of comfort in an otherwise overwhelming world. To lose them in this way is not just loss it is profound, life-altering and heartbreaking.

One of the most overlooked consequences of this law is the number of dogs who are not truly XL Bullies at all. Many owners, acting in good faith and fear of the unknown, chose to exempt their puppies early. As these dogs have grown, it has become clear that some do not meet the criteria and yet there is no clear or accessible way to reverse that exemption.

These dogs, and their owners, are now trapped in a system that offers no flexibility and no second chances. Families are burdened with restrictions, anxiety, expense and uncertainty, all the while knowing their dog never needed to be labelled this way in the first place.
SSDR (Sunny Shores Dog Rescue) has, over the last couple of years, stepped in where the system has failed.
We have taken in XL Bullies and dogs wrongly labelled as XLs, from the UK and given them the chance they deserve, finding them safe, loving, forever homes.
Each dog saved is a life spared and proof that compassion can succeed where policy and knee jerk government legislation falls short.
Sunny Shores Dog Rescue are providing a lifeline, by safely and legally relocating these dogs from the UK to Spain for rehoming.
We are offering hope where there was none preventing healthy, loving dogs from losing their lives to legislation.
This is the latest rescue, her name is Pepita, once at risk of PTS, due to no fault of her own, she is now safe in the care of SSDR.
For Pepita and her owners, the fear and uncertainty are now over.
In their place is safety, kindness, and the promise of a future filled with love.
Sunny Shores’ work is a powerful reminder that behind every law are real lives, dogs who feel, love, and trust, and people whose worlds are built around them.

While public safety is important, so too is compassion and right now, many would argue that that balance has been lost.
It is grass roots efforts like those of Sunny Shores Dog Rescue that are trying to make a difference between life and death for these dogs, and between hope and total heartbreak for their owners.

If you would like to know more about Sunny Shores and the help they can offer, including legal licensed door-to-door transport, please WhatsApp +447581193729 or email [email protected]
