Foundation CANYA SOS Campo de Gibraltar, is a non-profit organization located in Andalucia, southern Spain. Our mission is to shelter, care for, and find new homes for unwanted and abandoned dogs across all eight municipalities of the Campo de Gibraltar region. Our journey began over a decade ago when, in 2010, a group of dedicated members of the Spanish stray dog’s community, became aware of the

distressing conditions at the local pound. Motivated to make a positive impact, they united forces to address the challenging situation faced by the dogs under the management of Zoo Sanitario (municipal pound). With the invaluable support of our numerous volunteers, we embarked on a mission to enhance the shelter's conditions. Over the course of the past decade, our collective efforts have resulted in numerous positive changes. Today, our commitment to the well-being of dogs remains unwavering. We continue to work tirelessly to provide a safe haven for these animals, relying on the support of our compassionate community and volunteers. Together, we strive to create a brighter future for every dog that finds refuge within our shelter.

🇪🇸Después de años viviendo entre barrotes, Spike por fin tuvo la oportunidad de disfrutar de algo que todos los perros merecen: libertad, aventuras y formar parte de la vida diaria. 🐾

Gracias a un grupo de maravillosos voluntarios que patrocinan su residencia, Spike ya no pasa sus días en una jaula. Y qué diferencia ha hecho… Está feliz, juguetón, disfruta de sus paseos, del agua y se lleva de maravilla con otros perros. ❤️

Con alrededor de 9,5 años, Spike todavía tiene muchísimo amor y alegría que ofrecer. Es un perro dulce, agradecido y con un corazón enorme, que solo necesita que alguien lo vea y diga: “Por fin estás en casa”.

Una residencia no es lo mismo que una familia… y Spike sigue esperando encontrar la suya. 🥺

After years of life behind bars, Spike finally got the chance to experience something every dog deserves — freedom, adventures, and being part of everyday life. 🐾

Thanks to a group of wonderful volunteers who sponsor his residence, Spike is no longer spending his days in a cage. And what a difference it has made… He is happy, playful, loves his walks, enjoys the water, and gets along beautifully with other dogs. ❤️

At around 9.5 years old, Spike still has so much love and joy to give. He is a gentle, grateful soul who just needs one person to see him and say: “You’re finally home.”

A residence is not the same as a family… and Spike is still waiting for his forever one. 🥺

❤️ Nessi needs us now…

🇪🇸 Cuando Nessi llegó a la perrera, vivir en una jaula fue extremadamente difícil para ella. Estaba estresada, le costaba adaptarse y empezó a perder peso. 💔

Pero entonces ocurrió algo maravilloso… Nessi pasó a una casa de acogida, y durante estos últimos meses nos ha demostrado quién es realmente. 🐾

Hoy, Nessi es una perra feliz y llena de vida que adora a las personas, se lleva de maravilla con otros perros y disfruta formando parte de la vida familiar. Es cariñosa, divertida y está preparada para dejar atrás su difícil pasado.

Lamentablemente, su familia de acogida ya no puede seguir cuidándola debido a próximos viajes, y Nessi podría tener que volver a la perrera pronto. Sabemos lo mucho que sufrió allí, y queremos evitar por todos los medios que tenga que pasar por eso de nuevo. 🥺

Ahora estamos buscando una nueva casa de acogida para Nessi, o mejor aún, una familia definitiva donde pueda seguir disfrutando de la vida que tanto merece. ❤️

Nessi necesita una familia estable que pueda ofrecerle rutina, cariño y la oportunidad de seguir floreciendo.

🇬🇧 Nessi needs us now…
When Nessi arrived at the pound, living in a cage was extremely difficult for her. She was stressed, struggling to cope, and began losing weight. 💔

But then something wonderful happened… Nessi went into foster care, and over the last months she has shown everyone who she truly is. 🐾

Today, Nessi is a happy, lively girl who loves people, gets along beautifully with other dogs, and enjoys being part of family life. She is affectionate, fun, and ready to leave her difficult past behind.

Sadly, her foster family can no longer keep her due to travel plans, and Nessi may have to return to the pound soon. We know how much she struggled there, and we desperately want to avoid her going through that again. 🥺

We are now looking for a new foster home for Nessi, or even better, her forever family where she can continue enjoying the life she truly deserves. ❤️

Nessi needs a stable family who can offer her routine, love, and the chance to continue thriving.

Mira qué dulce es. Mira esos ojos. Mira cuánto amor tiene para dar.

Eicha sigue esperando detrás de los barrotes a que alguien vea en ella lo que nosotros vemos cada día: una perra cariñosa, divertida y llena de amor.

💛 PALERMO IS WAITING 💛

🇪🇸Hay perros que poco a poco se ganan un lugar en tu corazón… y Palermo es uno de ellos.

Este precioso chico de 2 años llegó a la perrera en unas condiciones muy malas: estaba extremadamente delgado y cubierto de garrapatas y pulgas. Pero a pesar de todo lo que ha vivido, Palermo sigue siendo un perro dulce y cariñoso.

Le encanta estar con personas, disfruta de los mimos y es un chico amable que solo quiere compañía. También se lleva bien con otros perros. 🐾

En nuestro evento de adopción, Palermo fue increíble. Rodeado de personas, perros, niños, música y mucho movimiento, estuvo tranquilo, feliz y demostró el perro maravilloso que es.

Palermo merece descubrir la vida que hasta ahora no ha podido tener: un hogar seguro, amor, aventuras y una familia propia. 💛

Some dogs quietly steal your heart… and Palermo is one of them.

This beautiful 2-year-old boy arrived at the pound in a terrible condition — extremely thin and covered in ticks and fleas. But despite everything he has been through, Palermo has kept his gentle and loving nature.

He loves being around people, enjoys cuddles, and is a sweet boy who just wants companionship. He also gets along well with other dogs. 🐾

At our adoption event, Palermo was amazing. Surrounded by people, dogs, children, music, and lots of activity, he stayed calm, happy, and showed everyone what a wonderful dog he is.

Palermo deserves to discover the life he has been missing — a safe home, love, adventures, and a family of his own. 💛

🐾 Duna y Dado buscan un hogar ❤️
🐾 Duna & Dado are looking for a home ❤️

🇪🇸Duna y Dado llegaron juntos a la perrera en junio de 2026 después de que su dueño los entregara junto con otro perro, Dash. No sabemos qué ocurrió para que terminaran aquí, pero sí sabemos que su vida cambió de un día para otro.

Pasaron de tener un hogar a encontrarse en un lugar completamente desconocido, rodeados de ladridos, ruidos nuevos y muchas caras desconocidas.

A pesar de todo, estos dos son unos perros maravillosos. Duna (5 años aprox.) y Dado (3 años y medio aprox.) comparten jaula y son muy buenos juntos. Ambos son muy cariñosos con las personas y disfrutan mucho de la atención. ❤️

Dado puede ser un poquito intenso cuando recibe mimos — tiene muchas ganas de cariño y a veces se emociona tanto que hasta llora cuando lo acarician.

Esperamos de corazón que su estancia en la perrera sea corta y que pronto encuentren una familia que les dé el amor, la seguridad y la vida que merecen. Porque ningún perro debería pasar sus días en una jaula.

🇬🇧Duna & Dado are looking for a home ❤️
Duna and Dado arrived at the pound together in June 2026 after their owner surrendered them along with another dog, Dash. We don’t know what happened for them to end up here, but we do know that their world changed from one day to the next.

They went from having a home to finding themselves in a completely unfamiliar place, surrounded by barking dogs, strange noises, and new faces.

Despite everything, these two are wonderful dogs. Duna (around 5 years old) and Dado (around 3.5 years old) share a cage and are both really good dogs. They are very friendly with people and love receiving attention. ❤️

We truly hope their stay at the pound will be a short one and that they will soon find a family who gives them the love, safety, and happy life they deserve. Because no dog should spend their days in a cage.

🇪🇸Nao llegó a la perrera en mayo de 2026 y se estimó que tenía alrededor de un año y medio en el momento de su llegada. 💛

Este joven tan guapo todavía se está adaptando a su nuevo entorno, pero hasta ahora nos ha mostrado qué perro tan maravilloso es. Se ha integrado bien con otra perra grande y parece disfrutar de su compañía.

Nao también parece estar cómodo con las personas y le gusta pasar tiempo con ellas.

Ya hay muchos pastores belgas esperando un hogar, lo que hace que sea aún más difícil que perros como Nao sean vistos. Pero esperamos que alguien descubra lo especial que es este chico y le dé el futuro seguro y lleno de cariño que merece. 🐾

🇬🇧Nao arrived at the pound in May 2026 and was estimated to be around one and a half years old on arrival. 💛

This handsome young boy is still settling into his new surroundings, but so far he has shown us what a wonderful dog he is. He has integrated well with another large female dog and seems to enjoy her company.

Nao also seems comfortable around people and is happy to spend time with them.

There are already so many Belgian Shepherds waiting for homes, which makes it even harder for dogs like Nao to be noticed. But we hope someone will see just how special this boy is and give him the safe and loving future he deserves. 🐾

🇪🇸Mira a este chico guapo 😍 Marlon es un joven Malinois de alrededor de 1 año y 8 meses, lleno de vida, cariño y ganas de conectar con las personas.

Le encanta recibir mimos, estar cerca de humanos y demostrar lo listo que es. En este vídeo puedes verlo disfrutando de un rato especial fuera de su jaula, recibiendo caricias, abrazos y enseñando algunos de sus trucos. 🐾

Marlon llegó a la perrera cuando tenía alrededor de un año y, aunque ya ha vivido una adopción que no salió bien, sigue siendo un perro dulce, cariñoso y con muchas ganas de aprender.

Es un chico inteligente que necesita una familia activa que pueda ofrecerle ejercicio, guía, enriquecimiento y la vida que un joven Malinois merece.

Pasar la mayor parte del día en una jaula es muy difícil para él… Marlon necesita un hogar donde pueda respirar, crecer y ser feliz. 💙

🇪🇸Mira a Ricotta… jugando, disfrutando de su pelota y compartiendo un momento feliz con sus amigos de cuatro patas. 🐾

Es difícil imaginar que esta preciosa chica lleva más de un año esperando en la perrera.

Ricotta llegó siendo solo una cachorra de unos 6 meses. Desde el principio demostró ser una perrita dulce, sociable y con muchas ganas de disfrutar de la vida. Se adapta muy bien, le encanta jugar, recibir mimos y estar cerca de las personas.

Ha vivido momentos fuera de la perrera y siempre ha demostrado lo maravillosa que es: cariñosa, inteligente, adaptable y lista para formar parte de una familia.

Durante este tiempo, muchos de sus compañeros de jaula y amigos han encontrado sus hogares… pero Ricotta sigue esperando.

Mientras tanto, ella sigue viendo pasar los días desde una jaula, sin perder su alegría ni sus ganas de jugar.

Ricotta merece mucho más. Merece una familia que vea la perra increíble que es y que le dé por fin la oportunidad de crecer, explorar y ser feliz. 🤎

It’s hard to believe that this beautiful girl has been waiting at the pound for more than a year.

Ricotta arrived when she was just a 6-month-old puppy. From the beginning, she showed what a sweet, social girl she is, with a love for life. She adapts well, loves to play, enjoys cuddles, and simply wants to be close to people.

She has had opportunities outside the pound and has always shown what a wonderful dog she is: affectionate, intelligent, adaptable, and ready to be part of a family.

During this time, many of her cage mates and friends have found their homes… but Ricotta is still waiting.

Meanwhile, she continues watching the days go by from a cage, without losing her happiness or her love for play.

Ricotta deserves so much more. She deserves a family who sees the amazing dog she is and finally gives her the chance to grow, explore, and be happy. 🤎

💙 ¡Necesitamos paseadores de perros voluntarios! 💙

En este vídeo, dos de nuestros maravillosos voluntarios, Lucía y Alejandro, están regresando con Ricotta y Enzo después de su paseo. Nos cuentan que vienen todos los domingos con su familia porque les encanta ayudar a los perros. De hecho, ya tienen los domingos reservados para venir a la perrera. ❤️

Verlos con los perros nos recuerda algo muy importante: ser voluntario no significa dedicar todo el día. Incluso un par de horas pueden significar muchísimo para un perro que pasa la mayor parte de su vida en una jaula.

Ricotta volvió cansada y feliz después de su paseo, mientras que Enzo disfrutó de cada minuto de atención y cariño. Para perros como ellos, estas salidas suelen ser uno de los mejores momentos de la semana. 🐕💙

¿Podrías dedicar una o dos horas a los perros?

Siempre estamos buscando más paseadores voluntarios, especialmente entre semana. Cada paseo le da a un perro un descanso de su jaula, ejercicio, estimulación mental y una valiosa atención individual.

👉 Fines de semana: 09:00 – 12:30

💙 We need volunteer dog walkers! 💙

In this video, two of our wonderful volunteers, Lucía and Alejandro, are returning Ricotta and Enzo after their walk. They tell us that they come every Sunday with their family because they love helping the dogs. In fact, they have already reserved their Sundays for the pound. ❤️

Watching them with the dogs is a lovely reminder that volunteering doesn’t have to mean giving up your whole day. Even a couple of hours can mean the world to a dog who spends most of its life in a cage.

Ricotta came back tired and happy after her walk, while Enzo enjoyed every minute of the attention and affection. For dogs like them, these outings are often the highlight of their week. 🐕💙

Could you spare an hour or two for the dogs?

We are always looking for more volunteer dog walkers, especially during weekdays. Every walk gives a dog a break from its cage, exercise, mental stimulation, and valuable one-on-one attention.
